  • those people that are laughing layed down a challeng lucky it wasnt the old days they would of been laughing with there heads on a stick no offence nek minit

  • You should not laugh in front of a guy with a spear

  • people should not laugh if they dont know what they are looking at

  • I love the Haka.

  • They should at least read a bit about other cultures, ignorants.

  • anyone hear that new Zealand was visited by the celts?

  • I believe people react to it as a play in a theater. In a relaxed setting, very expected.

  • They wont jus asians all those fukin white cunts were laughing to the one tht picked the feather wattr fagget shoulda game em all a wack wit the bros taiaha haha.

  • These palangi's need to stop laughing.

  • Fucking IDIOTS... laughing at this... wish one of them took that fuckin taiaha upsite one of their faces...

  • laughing is a natural reaction to fear.

  • @annelynd - Very true so please to all the polynesians on here saying they are being disrespectful they are not, its just one of those reactions that comes out when you are uncomfortable or scared. Please please do not be so harsh this coming from a polynesian sista..

  • Is that what Maori canoes look like in the 20th century? :o)

  • @HxMxOx Yep! :-)

  • ignorant ppl are laughingX(

  • @shaveyourfingers Nope. It was meant to be a surprise. Hence the arrival by jet boat.....

  • @linuxluver oh ok...mean welcome though. chur bro

  • I don't know about Asians, but when I encounter a strange culture, I don't laugh -nervously or otherwise! I can see that this man is serious about either trying to introduce us to his culture or... ready to kill the invaders. Neither is a matter made better by laughing at it.

  • I can understand people's reaction by nervous laughter, but seriously, this scared the shit out of me. Unbelievable

  • I don't get why these people are laughing. What a bunch of moronic idiots.

  • Stupid white people need to respect other people's culture more!

    I'm so ashamed.

  • @bakaheibaka Did you read the description? The people there were from many places, from Pakistan to Japan to the US and Europe. Most were from Asia. Anyone laughing was doing so because to them this behaviour seemed strange. They had not been told this was going to happen.

  • @bakaheibaka Respect and understanding is a two way thing. Most toursist have never experienced Maori culture and if they have it would only be a bit of Rotorua's commercialisation of maori culture. Never hear anyone bitching about the commercialisation of the kapa haka or maori culture. Easy sit there and take offense. I wonder if you have respect for anything or anyone. May we always fight ignorance and to keep our culture intact without alienating others. This is how it will survive.

  • @Spiritoflove1 Well said. :-)

  • Comment removed

  • @bakaheibaka you sound like an idiot; people are people and your skin is not responsible for your actions. maybe if experienced more cultures you'd realize that.

  • @bakaheibaka Read the description bigot; most of the people there were Asian.

  • @bakaheibaka When ancient Maori warriors stuck their tongue out, it meant after they kill you, they were gonna eat you to steal your spiritual energy. u think their Still laughing??

  • hehe i tink it has down syndrome

  • looks like the woman misunderstand the moving tounge.

  • @DerMessermann LOL!

  • OMG!!! This is awesome!!! I wish I could be there to enjoy it in person!!

  • I'm Aussie and i remember a rugby game between us and the all blacks that took place quite some time back. 1 of our player's laughed during the haka and ended up being axed during the game. Since then i learned to respect the haka.

  • @MrPwnstar007 What do you mean by "being axed"? Like physically assaulted with an axe..or is "being axed" like a common but really rough rugby move?.I'm just asking since I have no idea bout rugby...but I've been to NZ and when our group went to than Maori village Rotorua we had been asked/told not to laugh since that was an offense...

  • @Randomnameezz As in he got smashed. The Maori bloke tackled him and half killed him.

  • The Asians have a different culture. Smiling and laughing mean compliments and appreciation, just like clapping and cheering in the West. It is just a matter of different culture. For us Asians, a mother breast-feeding her baby in the church or in the market is acceptable because it is considered natural to feed the baby. And we do not wear shoes or footwears in any house becuase footwears are considered to be for outdoor only. Our thoughts are logical and practical.

  • @starsnoopy00 its not logical nor practical to go on a trip and not know anything about culture there. The licking gesture means his mouth is watering for your flesh, not something to laugh about if you ask me. Im dutch (we clap our hands) and i wouldnt clap my hands if a maori would lick towards me. Its asian culture to go on a trip just to go there. The moment asian people realise they have been in a magnificent country is when they show their thousands of picturesto their family back home.

  • @starsnoopy00 "oooh nice, if we dont pick up this present, these men would literaly rip the flesh from our bones with their bare teeth... Hahahaha, compliments and appreciation" *takes dozens of pictures*

  • They are laughing because it seemed funny to them, especially some of the postures and tongue flicks. Maybe some of them thought it was a 'game' or something staged to make them laugh, I don't know. There is, however, NO EXCUSE for them to laugh, because a people calling themselves 'civilized' should be able to understand that these are the customs of other cultures, and therefore should be respected. They should have KEPT THEIR MOUTHS SHUT despite what they thought inside themselves.

  • givee those asian bastards a wack wit ma taiaha

  • I would stand there in complete AWE.. I love this culture, and I hope to see it before my eyes someday

  • hi linuxluver,

the only bearable excuse for the laughter is given by you comment. Thank you for that. I'm willing to accept the explanation, though not because they're tourists, not because it was an unexpected welcome..and certainly not because of their lack of knowledge! Im against ignorance in any form. I believe, if your're a tourist, you're also a guest. They could have cheered, clapped etc.! But i heared in Asia its a wide-spread conduct that laughter is also a signal for intimidation. Bye

  • Wow they seem aggressive.. I really want to study their Culture... Hope I can see New Zealand..

  • Moari's are like the Australian mexicans...only they cant grass as good. arrogant peices of shit...

  • los estupidos que se estan riendo es por que son son imbeciles o que?

  • coming from asia myself, ive been to New zealand for training and laughing is not a small matter. it is a very serious event and i have the utmost respect for the culture. Also, knowing the New zealand soldiers was an honour as they treat you with respect and they are a really tough bunch! =) made alot of good brothers over there and i will never forget the experience :)

  • Stupid tourists...

  • totally agree... i know they meant no disrespect to the culture but i must say that it was kind of offensive to hear them laugh. just being honest and just saying!

  • I dnt think they realise hw rude theyre being by laughing.... Bloody fools

  • Dude. I wouldn't be laughing. He's look scary and intimidating to me. lol

  • They wouldnt laugh if they got a taiaha to the mouth..... Remember that next time kids.... Tiaha to the mouth.

  • i wished that maori guy stabbed that fat guy

  • KIA ORA!! I need you help to identify a song for me. It's in Maori but I don't know what it's called. I love the song so your help would be appreciated.

Go to my channel to view,

    Thanks

  • I think the tourist guide should have briefed the tourist on the culture and explained to them about what was about to happened so they would have not been so disrespectful. Frankly the first time i saw something like this i was a bit freaked out but amazed at there culture. Now i'm trying to learn the language just because i like the culture. ^__^

  • disrespestful tourist

  • I would be scared shitless

  • i know the tourist were not intending any offence but i dont know why i feel so mad about them laughing

  • @sdurgefafd Interesting comment. Most others who have commented saying they were angry at the laughing didn't examine their reaction as you appear to have. I do recall as I was filming the actual event that the laughing seemed inappropriate, but I wasn't angry about it. I sensed it was the strangeness of what they were seeing, from their point of view, that made some laugh. It may not be obvious in the video, but not everyone was laughing.

  • @sdurgefafd i agree fully, the comment says they're from east asia, im sure if i walked inside their dojo's with my shoes on and pissed in the corner theyd be more than obliging....... its not only the laughing but the stupid comments in the background too. In these instances the warrior should give the disrespectful people a 'tap' with the taiaha, just enough to say STFU now.

  • @sdurgefafd me too i'd like to see how much they laugh when he takes that taiaha to their heads!

  • @sdurgefafd i know what you mean i mean i work at the aiport here in Hawaii and me and my cousins who all work there too we do the Haka sometimes for =groups of tourists. when we do it some just laugh at us and it just sayd disrespect all over. but we just go on because we love what we do and that is sharing our Polynesian culture with the mainlands.

  • @sdurgefafd hahaha same here

  • @sdurgefafd The laughter is the consequence of the scary impression the warriors make. They are impressed.

  • @sdurgefafd because by law they cant be hurt? but in reality, tourists are the biggest pussies ever

  • I think that Maori is so amazing. I love it.

  • I'm Aboriginal from North America, and I respect and love the Maori culture so much. I can't wait till the day I actually get to visit New Zealand.

  • I am wondering of they will still laugh when they understand that what he holds is a weapon and that the type of the dance may change into a lethal form. :) Traditions are above everything as you are a quest in a certain country.

  • I cannot believe people were actually laughing... So disrespectful

  • Where I'm from, if you laugh at our traditions you get speared where you stand. Respect is of high demand. But I do understand that these were tourists and not actual other tribespeople. I know they would show respect.

  • @davidkilo32 I've posted 7 videos from this occasion. Each is a response to the previous one. They should be in the order in which they occurred. I think it becomes clear everyone is having a good time and no disrespect was intended.

  • Odio a los turistas estúpidos e ignorantes que se ríen de las danzas tradicionales (en cualquier parte del mundo). Ojalá los maoríes los hubieran asesinado.

  • @TheShuffleNinja send me a ticket... don't forget to book me a 5 star hotel and I will I swear come and say it on national TV....

  • @stealthmummy LOL! That attitude would explain why the prison populations in NZ are 50% Maori despite their share of the general population being 15% - at most. Better to educate people than attack them.

  • @linuxluver ~ Oh good grief!! People and their fucking statistics. I am not Maori, in fact I havent even steped foot in New Zealand (though I would love to, it is beautiful there) but I am having difficulty believing that "50 percent" of the population in prison are of Maori background in a nation where the entire populace of such is compromised of only 15 percent. If that were true, what does that say about you ACTIVELY IGNORING that the other 50 percent of the prison population ARE NOT Maori??

  • @SeekThePaleSeptember I agree it seems hard to believe....but it's the simple truth. The long term effects of colonisation on indigenous peoples echo on through the generations. The stats for North American indians aren't much different. Though a tiny portion of the population (now), they punch well above their weight in their share of people in jail. Go look it up. Yes, it is shocking. But it's happened everywhere the white folks moved in, stole the land and killed anyone who opposed them.

  • @linuxluver .... That's alright. The prison systems in america have more white men and women than all of the population in Aotearoa combined, Hahahahahaha.

  • @Eruera96 It's worth remembering that many of the prisons in the US are private prisons. So they make money by putting people in jail. It is no accident the "longer sentence" lobby is most active where prisons are (or may soon be) privately run. It's locking people up for profit....they don't care what happens to them or why they're there. In Pennsylvania recently a judge was found to be taking kick-backs from a prison if he locked people up. Innocent kids were being locked up for years.

  • @Eruera96 Reading your comment again....I see you were laughing at bit of rough justice on the white folks. Got it. Sorry i was slow the first time around. :-)

  • @Borogoroeaesum o rly

too bad brutha, everyone hate americans too :)

  • @Borogoroeaesum You just told us a whole lot about yourself....whether you realise it or not. :-)

  • @linuxluver ohhh i see.. so now there are bunch of you damb asses?? did I get that right??

  • I wish I could do this to the people my daughter brings home...

    Respect to the Maori.

  • And all these fuckers are laughing >_<

    shit man they lucky...

id be fucking shitting myself and IM A FRIGGEN MAORI :P

  • @Mehte101 The always laugh, it's a defence mechanism, cause we forgot how to be scary.

  • Hes trying to seek to me I know it!!!!!!

  • That'd be pretty cool to see in person.

  • WHAT KING OF WELCOMING IS THAT??????? IT LOOKS LIKE THE MAORI IS TRYING TO SCARE HIM, AND TRYING TO TAKE A SHIT AT THE SAME TIME. IF ITS A WELCOME HE SHOULD JUST SHAKE HIS HAND AND SAY ''WELCOME'' NOT ALL THAT AGGRESSIVE YELLING BULL SHIT. FUCKING MAORI

  • @SuperStagg1 Are you stupid? "Hand shaking" is a Western ritual, not a Maori one. You believe your customs are so superior that you think everyone has to bow down to your ways. You live in New Zealand, so you should obviously know the Maori culture. Instead, you just sound like a racist and a retard both at the same time. If you don't like NZ (which is the home of the Maori), then leave the country because you don't deserve to call it home.

  • @SuperStagg1 Shit this is the second video i've seen you comment on negatively about Maori's, whats wrong with you boy? You get the shit kicked outta you in high school by a Maori? Fuckin probably! Toughen the fuck up, pull ya head outta ya arse and leave the fuckin Maori's alone you dense fuck!

  • @InformationMinister Good On You!!!!

  • Fucking haolez

  • yea whatever dude no one gives a shit whether they r red asians or blue asians.. ppl who laugh at other ppl r only laughing at themselves. when u go to any country there s a level of humbleness and respect that u have to show. imagine if u had a guest come at your house and starts laughing at the way you live, your whole identity. eventho they just thought it s funny, it s still annoying.

  • in the past if the stranger was not able to keep eye contact when picking up the dagger his head will get cut off...

  • you know what? If people get whacked then those arses should get done for assault. Going on about respect for the culture is just dumb if you haven't at the least explained to the tourists what's going on. It's bit shithouse to have people around to your place so yo can make money off them and you whack the crap out of them. It's simple. Explain everything before they arrive no drama! It's the 21st century ffs!

  • No respect these fellas - they should of knocked them over head for giggling lol

  • I love it, great warriors.

  • silly monkeys, give them thumbs, they make a club and beat their brother down.

How they survive so unguided is a mystery.

  • So is the boat paddle the first maori is holding actually a boat paddle, or a weapon? I'm sure if you put anything in that guy's hands its a weapon, but you know what I mean.

  • @BakaYaru13 that is a weapon and if the one picking up the dagger wasnt able to keep eye contact they will cut his head off.

  • why so much giggling?!?!

  • With all due respect, the man that picked up their offering did not know this maori man was serious, He was welcoming them, but this tribe member(witht he tattoos all over his face) was blessing him.I am a Maori, i speak Maori, I know.

  • @theVcam uh cool

  • I dont care what people say. You have got to HAVE NO kind of COMMON sense if your going to laugh at that. so disrespectful

  • TOA

  • I don't care what anyone says, big dudes with facial tattoos shouting like that would frighten me. That shit is intimidating.

  • Didn't they do Hakas a thousand years ago when trying to take over an island? If the opposers got scared they left. If both sides stayed they fought to the death.

  • adoro essa dança ai mt boa!

  • @willrjtv Fico feliz que tenha gostado do vídeo. :-)

  • Asians laugh at anything that they don't understand. Even if you ask them a question that they don't understand and don't know how to answer, their reply is 'Yes', 'Yes', 'Yes'!

  • I've blocked komo from commenting further. I've never done that before in 5 years on YouTube. I've held that people are free to say what they like - swear or whatever as much as they like - on my videos as long they show some respect to others who also make comments.

Komo wasn't able to show respect or consideration to others, even when asked. People like that aren't welcome here.....or, I hope, anywhere.

  • @linuxluver its to bad there are so many dumbasses who cant respect other culturs or or beleifs the haka is there versoin of what the shumka dances is for me, its part of the past and if you dont respect and remeber the past you will pay for it dearly. sorry if my grammers bad or spelling is horible .

  • @linuxluver , this is so cool, One can see that Maori people are very proud and capable to defend them selves, one of the reasons they weren't occupied and pulled apart from it's origin by English like Australian Aborigines.

  • I find this insulting for people to laugh at this. I wish for people with this narrow mind to be strike down.

    U never disrespect this.

  • @k0mo bananehangmat was making the point that while you appear to expect respect you failed completely to show any. You responded with more of the same disrespect. What goes around comes around. There are 6+ billion people in the world and one thing is certain: all but a handful don't even know you or I exist. If you pick fights with the world, you will lose. This is why respect is essential. Without it each of us is vastly outnumbered.

  • @k0mo First off, using the word fag in a negative way, is a sign of huge disresepct against gay culture. Secondly, telling people who obviously are just having a good time they are idiots, another sign of disrespect. Thirdly, going to remarks of violence to make your point is nothing more than a sign of weakness and pure stupidity.. Sorry kiddo, just take a look in the mirror, before blabbing so much bullshit.

  • I from Denmark, i wish we had a warrior culture like this... <3 maori :)

  • "If anything it was a little frightening"

No sh't. I get goose bumps just from watching *videos* of haka on youtube.

  • "If anything it was a little frightening"

No sh't. Imagine you meet a hobo armed with a knife and high as a kite on crack cocaine in a dark alley and he offers you a flower. D: Best to take it..

  • Dumb laughin tourists..................

  • Every culture does things differently, different people react to scary things differently. We are all different, this is a fact. I feel this is part of what makes us all human.

If I make the effort to try to walk a mile in another persons shoes ( see thing from their perspective) Then I feel I might learn something, and understand, rather than judge. ( which is something I tend to do )

  • oh great now we look like a bunch of screaming men, great show for new zealand

  • i second what k0mo said. Indigenous Power

  • They are just laughing cos they dont have a clue about traditional stuff......like we do......Love from Fiji..Great stuff....

  • @k0mo I know man yo I'm American...I'm a Micronesian but born and raised here I know that mess is completely disrespectful they're sharing culture and the tourist just want to laugh... I woulda had my dad make a Mwoakillese spear and personal jabbed them myself ahaha

  • this is nice i just hope those who were watching would shut a fuck up!

  • @k0mo in finland we respect the warriors wery deeply! some of us were vikings some of us were barbarians. i respect your people so much i even learned one haka! we dont laugh. we respect you!

  • That would scare me.

  • fuck those laughin fagz!!

  • fckin asians if anything they should be scared, blimin asians are the size of our legs

  • well at least they see some humor in it........

  • that was amazing, i would love to see that!

  • that was amazing, i would love to see that!

  • Being a Maori, it is not the fault of the visitors, but of the people who organised the Welcome, I was so outraged during such a ceremony I moved forward and yelled at the top of my voice if you people have no RESPECT I will teach you RESPECT one at a time or all at once.

  • When the visitors saw I was serious about the matter they were very sorry and apologised I also apologised when I calmed down, it was not their fault for not knowing all I know is I lost my cool big time none of the men came into the same room with me for the after function get together wonder why? I’m just glad I didn’t kill anyone

  • Fuck yesh if that was me doing the wero i would have gone up to them and smacked them rite on the head dum fuken ignorant balldheads, piss of back to your own country

  • @k0mo Hi. Read the description for more detail. :-)

  • How is that they don't ruin the prop ?

  • their Moko tatts are really detailed and are freaking awesome. the bitches laughing should have been beaten senseless for being disrespectful.

  • people need to take theis seriously it is how us newzealnders greet other people coming into our country it is no laughing matter....

  • Comment removed

  • Good thing you explained why the visitors were laughing, otherwise it would have been irritating. Did someone tell them about the protocol afterwards?

  • 何で笑ってるの??

    不思議。

  • @nemsun35 彼らはこの現象が発生するとは思わなかったので、彼らは笑っている。これは、彼らに不思議だ。それはこれが起こるとしていたそれらを言わなかった組織人。

  • @linuxluver Indeed,Thank you.

  • Comment removed

  • i'd be scared as hell to face them

  • @brock3175 The best of them take the Wero very seriously....as you can tell from many of the comments here from Maori. Yeah....fierce all right. :-)

  • @brock3175 Eh.. they wouldnt do nothing.. Maori are big teddy bears lol

  • @brock3175 believe me these pple are all crap, when i went to high school in new zealand ( i am a kiwi) they shove this shit down your throat, constantly, after the first powhiri you get so bored

  • Retard tourist laughing at Maori culture

same as u visit America and u laughing to Baseball or nascar

or u laughing at British drinking TEA !!!

so shut the fuckup respect to their culture

  • I wonder what the proper respectful response is when faced with the Maori challenge? and what did he put down for the other one to accept?

  • never mind about what he put down... just read about the fern or feather.....

  • LOL im sorry but thats fuckin hilarious
