@olive1913 Did you know it's being remade? Same voice acting, same story, new and improved visuals! Google it or something, "Dear Esther Remake", it's bloody brilliant. And by the creators of Dear Esther, Korsakovia. Ever played that one? It's quite different, incredibely frightening, but also very very good.
That was totally unexpected. I liked the way the opening monologue about decibels tied into the torture survivor's story. His description was pretty horrific. I didn't get some of the imagery with the speakers and whatnot getting moved by sound waves, but they were cool as hell. Like the milk dancing on the speaker at the end; I didn't get that, but it was as thought provoking and evocative as the other sound related visuals.
I did listen to heligoland, and I enjoyed it. I read some lukewarm reviews, and I started to wonder if it was that amazing of an album. But after watching this, I can see a whole dimension to the music that helps me enjoy the music so much more, reminiscent of Lateralus by Tool, and their mathematical secret. Thank you futureshorts for providing quality content, thank you Ruhal Ahmed for being involven, and thank you most of all, Massive Attack, for making amazing music for decades.
OMG! heavy metal???? i mean for the creator, so i imagine also lover and artist, of this music is has to be a reconsideration of his taste. OR, if because music taste and human mind are so flexible and subjective and the interrogated subjet by coincidence likes this music style, would he then be inmune against this torture? then this would be a clearl justification of this music lover`s choice.
To raise awareness about the use of music as a form of torture? And the effect of that loud music on the human body? It was so obvious to me, I don't know how you didn't understand. lol
And its a shit, like in Stanley Kubrick's movie `A clock work orange`, to be forced to something with a kind of music you will never like again.
When i listen enough times to certain music in the same environment i finaly associate the feeling to it, and forget about my taste of considering it nice or crap at the beginning.
i dont care what ur thoughts on torture are. nor ur political affiliations or w/e. but music they very thing that should be seen as beautiful and a release of emotions and thought of the human mind, should NEVER be used for torture. i would imagine that that artists who were played for the sake of torture would stand up, i certainly hope they do, cuz htere is nothing worse than having ur art used to make people break down.
@skycaptain301 Such is the thinking that dictatorships are founded upon. A great many of the people in, and who have been in Guantanamo, are innocent. You seem to be making the distinction that such people are somehow different to yourself; but if this claim of yours were true, then you would have to be able to go through the same inhumane treatment, come out the other side, and then tell the outside world it is justified once you're released.
@anarchisttomato I agree with you inhumane is inhumane but mass murder is worse. I under stand alot of people in there are innocent but alot of people in there arn't. we have so much more info then we did because of it. I feel sorry i really do and if i did go throught that of cource i will be against it but i didnt O and the enamy does alot more damage to our guys when they are captured. and some time they dont give back the innocent ones
@skycaptain301 Understandable, but this viewpoint runs in direct contradiction to the very principles that the US forefathers established (I'm not from the US btw). This approach may seem justified under such circumstances, but it also undoes the ideals of the very system it claims to be protecting. Ultimately this approach is incompatible with the ideals that the US has at least *claimed* to follow and continues to preach. If the US is to stay this way, it has to be aware it is switching sides.
I have thought this for a while. Please take nots of the plagues of Egypt. they match a volcanic eruption well also. river contaminated, live stock killed, frigs driven out of the water, flies thrive on the corpses, spread animals disease and boils that eventual turn lethal.
@superchimp you know what.. I tried what you suggested, just to see what would change, so I jacked up the volume at the sections of the interview by just a couple of percent so I would would sound it was level all thru. To my surprise I found it almost an bombardment of sound. I noticed I wasn't focusing anymore, the intense sounds the sound-engineer was talking about were not as intense anymore.
The sick thing is that the US gov. actually thought that this would help the war on terror! DUDES.. you just made a lot of (now) mentally disturbed enemies for life. Applying these methods of "interrogation" (torture) never helps. Studies have shown that torture is a not a favorable interrogation method that often results in completely wrong or misleading information. Not only is it cruel and inhuman - It's also counterproductive and simply does not work! Only Bush is stupid enough..
well the film is brilliant I'll agree to that but I don't see the point of putting Saturday Come Slow in there...I mean Splitting The Atom would have been a better choice for the subject at hand

My only complaint would be that if I were watching this expecting a typical music video, I'd get impatient with all the breaks in the music.
