  • This is 'the Worlds', i think the confusion comes from the second issue of this record which has a black transmat label which was issued with the labels on the opposite sides...

  • thumbs up if ur listen to this in 2011

  • @DroiidLife i listen this every year..

  • Have this 12" - wasn't until recently that I was able to stop thinking this track was called "The Worlds" as the labels were the wrong way around on the vinyl. When all around you were listening to GTO, D-Shake and *gulp" Guru Josh and calling themselves Ravers, you were listening to this beast along with early UR and thinking that Detroit was the centre of the universe.

  • Multi,Mazzo,Parkzicht,Roxy,Zoo,Melkweg,Highschool,Graansilo,Beat Club ect. ect....GOOD old times....PEACE ;)

  • This is one for my funural.. Spice it up a bit. This track that pulled me from metal to techno in 1990.

  • ZTT did other things. Look, the 'The Worlds' track was on R&S :-) Which is actually the b-side of this one... :-) My copy got nicked....

  • Thumbs up if you're under 20 and would like to be born 10 years forward

  • I remember talking to Neil Rushton at Network when I was looking for SK's The Groove. They had cut out the middles and were literally using them as coasters coz they could not give the toon away let alone sell it. Now here we are 20ish years later and this track has 53k hits. Funny old world this.

  • They would've been great for the ZTT label.

  • One of my all time techno favourites, and the title of a book by Carlos Castaneda.

  • James Pennington classic!!!

  • Yes mate, 6am, a warehouse, smoke machine, strobe and this tune!! - job done.

  • The sound of death making its way to your last destination....or just a groovy techno tune.

  • This is THE sound of my Friday nights as a 16 year old in Sheffield. Underground as fuc|< Very dark, heavy bass and bleep attitude dancing 8)

  • Hot house beat from back in the day....

  • Hot house track from back in the day.

  • strictly for da underground

  • hardcore detroit shit

  • Play this LOUD, turn the lights off and get taken away.

  • It was always a little bit hard to listen to, this track - to be honest.

  • AHHH YEAH

Everyone used to drop this, for years!

  • suburban knight(the worlds)

  • PCP - The Mover stole the whole song more or less. "Of suns and moons" check out. Great shit anyway.

  • Don't recognise this version. Holy crap this is fuckin' sick!!

  • It's The Worlds not Stalking

  • Ah no wonder lol.

  • @cajjer its the art of stalking.i bet you a million squidz.ive got the vinyl on 12".

  • Yeah mate, they were all labelled wrong

This isn't the song credited as Art... on the Relics album

  • Actually I owe you a million squidz, as I've come round to your way of thinking :)

    That bloody relics album...

  • ive put the worlds tune up now, enjoy.its got a black cover, and silver writing.peace out.

  • Peace and a good Christmas :)

  • wat up jit!!!

  • like i said before this is the shit! timeless

  • Hell yeah, what a tune. Can't believe it's nearly 20 years old.

  • Detroit darkness!!

I have this vinyl wrapped in silk cloth!!

  • wow, that´s excellent !

  • Uploaded "Art of Stalking" the correct version as a Video response.....

  • one of Theeee greatest tracks ever and ever made!!!!

    my brotha JITTTTTTT

  • Hey statenhal, impeccable taste as usual. 90s Detroit underground sounds as good today as it did then. Hi-Tech Jazz indeed. Thanks, cool post. The label confusion has me in stitches. That sort of thing helped make this music so cool by adding mystique and genuine attitude. That the people making this stuff were sometimes reluctant to be known, preferring anonymity to acclaim, was a big political & cultural statement. There was a lot more freedom in music then I reckon, golden days!

  • This is The Worlds

  • A bit like art of shredding by alien christ

  • Marc Acardipane was heavily influenced by Detroit stuff and especially Transmat and Suburban Knight. More Or lesss all of the Alien Christ releases are re-recordings of this song.

  • Ta, Interesting

  • that was a copy of this

  • I no

  • It is The Art Of Stalking and nothing else. I have the original Transmat release here and the Remixes on FNAC.

  • This is NOT "The Art of Stalking." It's the b-side track, entitled "The Worlds."

  • TUNE!

  • my my my pure evil...love it

  • I'm thinking of a mix brining back the old flavours with the classics re-created but not ruined with a newer style mix. I would do this but using the original techno and house flavours of the 90's and late 80's. Any Feedback welcome.

  • Memories of the orbit morley (leeds)

  • this is The World's

  • hmm... i just double checked my copy... eventhough the record says it's The World's, it seems that the labels were printed incorrectly. Very confusing. At the time it came out I used to call it The Art Of Stalking... so maybe I knew something then that I've forgotten now! lol.

  • aah,, but i've just dug out my copy of the RELICS album which has The Art Of Stalking on it, and it's not this track posted in the video.... so i guess the track in the video above is indeed The World's and The Art Of Stalking is the flipside. Sorry to have added to the confusion!

  • It's very better than the shits that we could heard on the radio actually ...

  • Masterpiece !

  • Underground as it should be !!

They don't make em like this anymore sadly enough :(

  • Thankfully

    Techno needs to evolve

  • His Dark Energy LP on submerge is simply amazing. Really dark off beat techno with a very paranoid feel, cant believe the albim was made almost 12 years ago!!

  • I opened the door for the first time of the 'Club 55' (Kuurne, Belgium)and this song was playing.. And there was a new world for me. Things will be never the same again.

  • You lucky guy, never hear this on a huge sound system:( but i agree this track on a huge sound system things will never be the same :)

  • Ahhh, good times. Feeling like a wannabe as I try to act casual inside UR store. Thanks Mad Mike, thanks James. I wish I would have bought every UR record available...

  • original darkness

  • can't believe this was made in 1990! I don't own the vinyl, but if you pitch it up a tad it would sound wicked with a lot of the Basement Records stuff from 92 and the new stuff on J-Tek records. Gonna have to listen to this one again!

  • wicked tune from the underground resistence guys

  • jesus.... Suburban Knight.. didnt get any more serious than this for a while.. when it came out.. Notice the label is actually a re-issue.. probably 4th or 5th run.. they started introducing colour and images on the label.

  • Good!!!!!

  • all you need is a strobo.. en maar juh..

  • this is THE tune that kicked it all off for me

    propa class

  • someone put the lights on please.

  • yes bad boy track for the techno heads.my bro couldnt understand it all

  • This was made by James Pennington (Aka the suburban knight) Not Derrick May.

  • This is so fucking dark I have to keep the lights on when I play it. Devilishly good!

  • treu but i dont think he made this tune tho

  • @statenhal True, it's 'James Pennington'

  • @respec34 this is James Pennington

  • @respec34 James Pennington - is Suburban knight - Derrick May was genuis but this was a one off flash of pennington genus

  • @RadiumAudioLtd check out his UR stuff still producing top shit...mayday aint

  • @respec34 This is a classic track by James Pennington. A few years ago he released some excellent EP's on a small Belgian label.

  • @respec34 this is not Derrick May...This is James Pennington.

  • @respec34 James Pennington made this tune.

  • @respec34 Suburban Knight

    Real Name:

    James Pennington

  • Fuck yeah

  • This is in a different place this track, incredible. loose it properly to this. UR Brilliant ; )

  • Together with Joey Beltram's Energy Flash one of my favorite classic tunes Good old days !

  • i dont like it....i love it 'just joking' i really dont like too repetitive,boring not detroit's best. great and beautiful examples of detroit techno are... flashflood,surkit,drama,salsalife,the beginning, the replica ep[keith tucker],infoworld,a relic,icon,kaotic harmony,funky funk funk,unity,electro files ep,techno music,nightdrive,the chase,the passage,vessels in distress,thought process,walking on water,194,the flow,impulse,milkyway,track ten,un deux trois,sequence 10,feels surreal... etc

  • dont care wot version it is lol .its still a bad tune

  • This is,confusingly, The Worlds, not the Art of Stalking.

  • wrong!it is the art of stalking-stalker mix..check your classics before comment i would say;)

  • You check your facts , smart arse. There was huge confusion at the time of release due to the mislabelling.I wonder why the "relics" compilation has a track on it listed as the "Art of Stalking", and that track is NOT the one playing above ,its the flipside to this....

  • This is one of my all time favs. So dark so simple. Moshing around to this back in the early 90's. Been looking for this on here for ages.

  • very hot !!!

  • Detroit again!

  • James - a guy with a heart

in 1998 he gave my 20 records of his collection

i gave him 20 records back

  • An absolute beauty. Love the way it repeats and i love the way it repeats. Off beat rythym. Oh i could go on all night.....like "loud and nasty"

  • absolute f*ckin classic, cheers for sharing this.

  • Nice version of this on the Transmat 'Relics' LP.

  • post pennington the warning. that is teh ill jammy jam!! man when teh warning comes on i get teh chills man.
