  • Simple Minds: Great performance

    Steve: Shut up!

  • only thing this performance needs is more McNeil shots

  • Gary Oldman look like Jim Kerr during his New Gold Dream days.

  • How can ANYONE dislike this? It is gorgeous. I feel like it could play for ever and ever and I would never tire of it.

  • love this forgot how good this band where memories good times

  • You wont believe what brought me here. I was coming home from Silloth beerfest, (which is great by the way). My maye had a torch in the glove compartment which I swotched on and directed it to him. Then we tried to remember songs that had "shine a light on me" in them. This is the best. Can anyone guess the other songs?

  • perfect real music, back in the day where hits had nothing to do with shit :)

I will never ever tire of this one. And of so many others from that era (80-85)

we need artists in 2010, real music, fuck the corporate industry!

  • Derek Forbes...12/10 as Bass Player...where are you now?

  • >>>>>>>>ON AIR

  • brilliant! what great bass lines in this song, and can't beat the chiming guitar sound.

  • yeah right!!!

  • Simple minds forever.

  • is it me or does Jim Kerr look like Gary Oldman in the film 5th element?

  • @mordig HA!

  • @mordig he totally does

  • @mordig

Brilliant! Yes, I'd never have thought of it but he does look like Oldman in The Fifth Element.

  • Perfect!

  • a jewel.

  • You punched a monkey??

  • "Whether it's a potato or a nut, it's a foodage.

  • Immanuel KANT!!

  • I was sent by fucking shaved monkeyman with head like orange. Loved cemetery junction Ricky boy - you are the best!

  • Simple Minds. Karl Pilkington. Head like a fucking, glittering orange!

  • Do you want to be Bubble, or the bloke with a milk bottle on his head?

  • @tonybeir Nirvana fucked the nineties up.

50-80's is the best. After that true music died.

  • I like the song very much, and it's always funny to see jim kerr's ballet on the stage ;)

  • I love this song!

  • I think the funniest fact about this edition of TOTP is that amidst all this futuristic pop, Jimmy Savile was still hosting!

  • a true classic, one of the Minds best ever.

  • ASkywalker1,

    Can your opinion be changed?

    Not one of SM best.

In my humble opinion their earlier stuff totally out shines this.

Try "I travel" or "Love song", they will blow your socks off.

Please let me know how you get on!

  • @tonskiwood I"ve heard I Travel and Love Song, but as I grew up listening to Glittering Prize and beyond, it would be hard to change my opinion, although they are great songs you mentioned, still don't do it for me like this one. Appreciate what you're saying though.

  • Classic from the 80's

    Happy days

  • What a classic

  • from one of the best albums ever

  • An Erotic tune!

  • After getting the early stuff I thought, at the time, recycled come down.

    Okay, I was wrong.

  • What a song!!! I have never head this song prior to this and now I must have this song for my collection. Thank you for posting this song for us all to enjoy!

  • What a song....classic track from a band at the peak of their creative powers....and the look and image of the band was great too.

  • ab fab

  • It's a US version, but Prize is supposed to be on there. I looked it up and cannot find a version without it. This must be an incomplete album from the fast and loose entity that used to be Napster in the early 2Ks.

  • This song is so fucking awesome. The cruel irony is it was left off the 1993 Best Of album called Glittering Prize. I blame the Americans.

  • my version of that album has prize on it is youres a us version or uk

  • Fabulous song

  • Far from my favourite SM but then that's still better than most - stunning

  • fanfuckingtastic!

  • i think it's playback

  • I think was Mike Ogletree

  • Was me in fact., Mike Ogletree, and I'm working on a new version of this as it is one of the best lyrics and melodies ever written by Mr Kerr. Watch my space.

  • wow... it's really you?

I am very happy and proud to directly receive an answer from you!

I also think that this song and the whole album both the best among those writings.Jim.

I would be really happy to listen to a new version of this song...

I will try to follow you on MySpace...
