We bankpole the Mississippi river and catch alot of 20 to 40 pound flatheads. We use 3/4 inch pvc seven feet long. Work out real well.

im heading to gar fishing country on the rio grande which is known to have 250 lb+ fish. I really do not want to buy a huge reel so do u think one of these will hold up if i put huge line on it with a 400 lb leader? thanks!

I have been fishing the illinois and vermillion rivers in illinois for 5+ years and barely broke the 20lb marker but twice. any tips for ideal areas to fish for these monsters would be greatly apreciated.

you ain't a kidding Dan. there are river hatters here in missouri as well. you gotta always watch your lines. i always carry my gun with me as well. someone who messes with my line will be shot. i got a 40 pound flathead yesterday on a bank line but didn't get him in. dang it. i used carp minnows. have you ever used carp minnows Dan? works well for flatheads.
