The Tau were the first army i wanted to do but i was given about 500 points of codex marines before i got any money together, so i did marines, but when the new codex comes out ill probably start tau. Its like my wood elves, cant really do anything until new codex/ army book, and the GW prices are going to rise again because of the LoTR release went badly because people are not so interested in LoTR as 40k or Fantasy, they destroyed our vets night as well. :(
I was just wondering, are you possibly going to start making videos again once the new armybook for Tau comes out later this year? I would deffinatly enjoy having a youtube-channel to follow while working my way back in to playing with the Tau :)
@RiseAgainstRcoks One can only hope! I have a kid now, so my video making career is at a stand-still. Here's to hoping that a new codex comes out soon!
@WoWVerify Think of it like a base of operation. Tau work effectively huddled "close" to one another, it is easier for them to draw the enemy towards them and defend themselves.
Fire Warriors have excellent guns, range and accuracy. Problem is they are slow to reload and it takes time to set up your troops. They also lack strong close range combat weaponry.
The Kroot make up for this, but they can be beaten if your opponent uses range or heavy attack.
While they are a young race the Tau withstood the might of the Imperium during the Damocles Gulf Crusade. Detachments of 19 different Marine Chapters and over 30 IG regiments went in and ended in a bloody stalemate.
@NicholasGeschke And then they went on and faced them again on Taros and made a mockery of the Imperial Guard, almost completely destroying a complete Company of Space Marines, scaring off Titans, and scoring a good planet for raw material.
Very nice. << tau player. Need some help vs space marine armies that spam assault squads and use laser/plasma weapons? i seem to get slaughtered since its very little mech im playing against, and the range and power from the assault squads/tactical squads ( im a tau player not a SM player =) ) is limiting my movement options and i just end up getting smashed, since laser/plasma weapons are good vs mech as well.
I dont know if you even check this anymore, but i think me (and a lot of other people), would really appreciate a video showing how to start a tau army etc.
I use a similar tactic to the second. I use a single firebase to draw the enemy into the corner, and then disperse forcing my opponent to split his army into more sizable chunks. Broadsides seem to be working great for me if I am going to have
Two fire bases. I put them in one corner ( three with six gun drones) to act as a distraction while placing my other units in the other corner. I then get to either hit there side armor with the railguns or he goes for a unit only worth 210pts. Cheers fo
Heh, I see the Misfits skull on the lefty Predator rock solid tacktic I wanna play Tau cause everybody saying they are weak. If I can win tournament with Necrons, then I think I can do something with Tau. Now I wanna see battle report. :)
hells yea, i am glad u posted another vid. keep it up! your tips and advice are always really interesting and useful. i use them occasionally and they truly work.
@AutarchAndrew Yes, I will be there but I am volunteering so I think I'll be assigned to some mega game or painting tables or something. we could play the next day at the Bunker though!
i think the devilfish is greatly overlooked. you can give it smart missiles (and seeker missiles) and then you can keep 6 firewarriors in there whole game. you let the devilfish hit troops all day and you loadout your XV8 for antitank and send in XV88 and hammerheads or skyrays. you can have 3 devilfish 3 Xv88 2 hammerheads and 3 XV8 with fusionblasters and a Shas'o and honourguard all in a 1750 game.
you used a pincer tactic, and its totally valid. outflank and dstroy for the greater good.
thats helps, but my bro just started a deepstrike BA army, and he may not b a pro but he is a diabolical bastard, how would u recommend deploying against a CC deepstrike army

@RockStarAussie
use kroots against the assault squads and use hammerhead gunships to bombard the tactical marine units,
use crisis battle suits with twin-linked missile pods to destroy enemy vehicles, and use stealth suits to kill important enemy champions.
taumich97 8 months ago
@RockStarAussie my army got 3 hammerheads: 155pts each = 465pts
1 tau shas'o: ion blaster, stimu-injector, retrotrusters shield generator = 130pts (i think)
2 firewarrior squads: x12, pulse carbines = 240pts
1 Kroot squad: x20 , upgrade 1 to a shaper = 161pts
total: 465 + 130 + 240 + 161 = 996 pts

Very excellent video, OSH. I'm so glad you are seeing the awesomeness of the ion cannon. It's my anti-marine weapon of choice.
Thanks for the great tips on strategy. I've started using your method (Devilfish in reserve and Kroot outflanking) and it's proving itself!

Hi dude, Excellent video and advice. Not just for Tau, but for any army with similar configurations. Cheers!
