  • That's quite cute but my gerbils are nothing like that. When I tried to stroke one it held my finger and chewed it until it bled

  • ive got gerbils too

  • YEAH MMM STOKE THAT GERBIL

  • BUT WILL IT BLEND?

  • cute creature! these plastic-tubes should be removed - cardboard is better for them.

  • pretty much exactly like my gerbils they could be twins!

  • @MyALOVE01 denada!!!

  • Awww

  • Not true, i hold my gerbil alot, she'll just sit on my hand and ill pet her sides, then she just lays there and lets me pet her.

  • LOL I wish my gerbil was as patient. She won't let me touch her unless I stick my hand in the cage and stay perfectly still, in which case she'll nudge my fingers and use them as monkey bars. :-P

  • @MahBoi22 mine are the same way!

  • Were did u get ur tubes from my gerbils chew on the tubes Sooo MUCH

  • they are very cute animals i have 2

  • Yes, there cute, but the tubes aren't good for them, because there can't breathe. But very cute <3

  • @MissKora23

They have little air holes in the tubes.

  • @MissKora23 there are holes in them so they could breath and its good for them because they like to excersize

  • I want a gerbil.... I haven't had one since I was younger, mine even had babies....

  • Whats so great about gerbils is that they are SOOO!!!! unpredictable on what they do or what they will do next!!! I have a albino (chewy) and brown/black (blaze)

If your gonna buy one do you research! I wanted a gerbil in June, did research from July to September '10 and I'm really glad I did!

  • too cute for words

  • 0:17

you see one gerbil, and then he shows the other it looks like its the first one teleported

  • I only clicked this because I thought you meant something else by stroking gerbil.

  • Once, my dog killed my gerbil...

  • How do you give a gerbil a sand bath

  • @huneyjew You get a bowl large enough for them to roll in and fill it half with sand (chinchilla sand is pretty good for it). Gerbils will jump in and roll about, and it makes their coats look glossier and cleaner pretty much instantly. I'd be prepared to hoover afterwards though because if your gerbils are anything like mine the sand will get everywhere!

  • omg they are so close to the camera

  • lol.. when i had a gerbil i would always feed it human food. like grapes, string cheese, wheat thins, and pretzels sometimes. but then he got really fat :( lol still cute though

  • @rockerxxchick307 it's fine to feed them such things! Gerbils enjoy a variety of foods, as long as there aren't too many preservatives, they'd be fine. Most likely the gerbil became overweight because he didn't have a wheel? Most gerbils will use them, if not buy a small pen to let it have a run about, just to burn off some calories. Also don't feed them too many goodies, they'll refuse to eat their gerbil mix! [:

  • i have a gerbil that looks like that, an algerian fox and a burmese apparently

  • first i thought that you were gonna kill them lol

  • he appears to be lagging. tell your gerbil he needs a new processor.

  • @Adun4184 lol i noticed the lag too :P

  • my gerbil used to let me stroke without it eating :/

  • ive got a chinese dwarf called daisy lol shes soooo cute but dont gerbils bite

  • @CrazzyGirl105 nope :) Gerbils are known for their friendliness! Mine never bite... they just sit and groom my fingers... They do nip when they're young, because that's how they learn, but if you don't teach em it's not acceptable, then they'll continue the biting. If they bite, blow a gentle puff of air at them and say "NO!" in a firm but non-scary voice, and they'll learn in no time! :)

  • The first time I read the title I thought it said smoking a gerbil, I was like wtf??!

  • thats EXACTLY the same as my gerbils! they only let me when they're eating a treat

  • OMG... MY LIFE IS FULFILLED NOW!!! I can die in peace...

  • "I don't want that bit... or that bit... or that bit.." Lol. My Degu does this. Then throws the actual food part across the room >_>

  • Gerbs are awesome, obviously. No maintenance, super cheap, and they never smell. Also super cute

  • Im mabye going to bye a gerbil.... it is just like a hamster right? eat the same stuff and so..... ?

  • @loddanyfiken1 gerbils are alot like hamsters, but they are easier to care for. if your ten or over, a gerbil OR hamster is a good choice. they both like the same cages, but gerbs like sunflower seeds are very VERY active. hope i helped! :)

  • @shacklefordfamily0 thanks! do I haft to bye 2 gerbils? :)

  • @loddanyfiken1 gerbils are much happier and live longer when they live in pairs :) Plus, it makes the stress of a new home a lot easier to deal with if ya got two. It's just like caring for one gerbil, except mroe fun :D

  • @loddanyfiken1 you dont have to buy 2 gerbils.

(obviously dont buy male and female) but usually 2 females are good together. dont get 2 males, cuz they will fight.

sry ti took a month to respond :)

  • Wrong, I'm afraid.

Female gerbils are more aggressive than males. You can only keep 2 together and one will dominate the other.

Male gerbils are best kept in pairs. They can be kept in threes or even fours, whereas females cannot.

  • @shacklefordfamily0 Yes, you do have to buy 2 gerbils. Also, female gerbils are the aggresive ones, NOT males. males are usually more calm.

    Experiance:

    4 gerbils and counting

  • if i put both of my gerbils out on seperate roofs of their cage, they'd have escaped by the time i could give one of them a treat. :O

  • for some reason I thought this was going to be funny.

  • If a gerbil ("GIRL") mate with her brother / father

    * it will affect them with something?

    * or is it normal for gerbils?

    - it is financially difficult to buy a new desert rat "boy" for whenever there are new girls .. and I will not separate them from their families ..

  • soo cute... your gerbil (the one who is fed) looks pretty much like one of mine...

  • I was promised Gerbilling action, AND I WANT IT NOW!

  • My gerbil isn't like that at all. I can pick him up and kiss him, even touch noses with him and he is totally content with it.....?

  • Thumbs up if gerbils are wicked!!! :)

  • @PIzzavideos11 Wicked but cute ;)

  • @PIzzavideos11 Gerbil 1: La la la la la,oooh a seed!omnomnomnomnom,yummeh,I love teh seeds!

Gerbil 2:Doo bee doo bee doo,:O a seed,OMG!I love seeds ! omnomnomnom tasteh seeds!

    Both:MMMMOOOORRRREEEE!!!!

  • My first pet from 4- 7 was a gerbil. He was all black white a pink nose. And he was so friendly, named him hammy. No gerbil could ever replace him.

  • Cute...!

They do remind me of squirels....very much. lol

  • @InkRoze i was hoding a gerbil and it flew out of my hands like a squirell.....lol

  • @EmmaGirl808

    lol ~!

  • After a whole lot of handling, they chill out somewhat, and you can just pet them normally.

    Esp. with the males.

  • Dont thinks so, i had 2 golden gerbils one lived 2 and a halve year, other one 3 years. Now i've got a black and white one, so i'll see.

  • My Mongolian Gerbils love their play wheel and their food. They are cute too.

  • where do you get your gerbils?

  • my gerbil likes to sit in my hand while i stroke her to sleep X3

  • Gerbils are my best friends !

  • They're SO cute! Plus, Gerbil says- "OOH NOMS! *Eats* Hey no touching me or my seed *Finishes. Puts nose to finger* Got anymore???"

  • the same my gerbil :S

  • are gerbils night animals?

can anyone tell me i want to buy one^^

  • @kwiekje hay, gerbils sleeps are short, they going to sleep all 3 hours.

(sorry for my bad english) that means they active at night and day :)

but you must boy 2 of them! never one gerbil alone ;)

  • @Rubyfiction ok thanks for the advice

  • @kwiekje They are both. They sleep four hours, are awake for about four hours, sleep four.. and so on.

  • Eu fico totalmente impressionada com tanta curiosidade em um bichinho desses!

  • Gerbils are so hard to pet. :P

They're so high strung and full of energy..

  • Lol when gerbils are eating you can do everything with them and they won't care.

  • @LionelMessi1337 You disgust me e_e

  • I had a gerbil named Willie when I was a kid. Vicious little bastard. He would sink his teeth into my fingers at every opportunity. He was very tame and liked being handled, but would suddenly bite for no reason.

  • CuTe! i JUST STARTED MAKING VIDS OF MY GERBILS WILL U GUYZ PLEASE CHEK THEM OUT? THNX! :D

  • Comment removed

  • what is it that you have on top of the cage, the black hatch? which the gerbils are placed on. I've got a aquarium for my gerbils, but no hatch yet, need to get something...just in case, i don't want they to escape.

  • @aziL87 a mesh aquarium topper will do. Any place that sells aquariums, especially reptiles, should have them. Just make sure you also get good aquarium topper clamps-they love to escape!

  • I have 33 gerbils at the moment, I used to have more :D x

  • iv heard that u need 2 girbils cuz they will get lonely by them selfs is this true

  • @fuckshitupcr3w Gerbils are very social. They either need a playmate, or they tend to be more depressed and timid. If you get just one (or something happens to its playmate and it is alone) you need to give the little guy plenty of attention.

  • @fuckshitupcr3w

i have 2 and if you seperate them at all they go crazy xD

  • that gerbil lokks just like my gerbil fudge

    ps: love u coco, fudge+pop

  • what were you feeding your gerbil?

  • ur gerbil is soooooooooooooo cute!

  • @likeaG97 I hope that you have more than ONE...

  • my gerbil gnaws the iron cage , is that bad ?

  • @octa1223 he does it to wear down his teeth, as they will grow too big if he does not. id suggest getting him a wood block to chew on from the pet store ( just make sure it isnt pine wood, it is poisonous for them) hope that helps :)

  • i have a questin. how long do gerbils live?

  • @topgunXXXI about 3 years

  • @topgunXXXI i think the average is just a few years, though the ones i have had have lived 4-5 years :)

  • @topgunXXXI - gerbils live for 2-4 years but some live longer like 5-6

  • aww he cant sit still :D

  • I have a question, I got my gerbil in november 2009, she lets me pet her but she wont let me pick her up and she bites. Any suggestions?

  • @ChippetezAGluver - u just have to give her some time to get use to u try by sitting your hand in the cage for a while with a treat and see if she takes it and keep it there so she can smell your hand sent............ then sit your hand there untill she cralls in it (it will take a long while) if she climes in your hand try to pick her up..if she lets u pick her up try this for a few minutes every day till she can really trust u to pick her up ok......hope this helps.......=)

  • gerbils creep me out. i think its scary how fast they move lol :D

  • @xEllieSpx lol

  • My gerbil has more fur and is a lil more chunkier XD

  • Thats because you need to tame it. The gerbils do not look as if they are tamed.

  • You have such tame gerbils! Unlike mine -_- lol

  • not even, i could pet my gerbils all the time, even when they werent eating. they lavved me. lulz.

  • aww! they look just like my little Gerbil Snickers (^3^)

  • gerbils are banned in california

  • Yup. The fear is that gerbils would get loose and displace similar creatures in the wild.

  • will they jump off a high object or can u let them stand on like a counter ad they wont jump

  • I used to have too many to count, I even had some mostly white and all black ones. They were a blast.

  • mine do the same thing

  • looks like dinners ready!!

  • soooo cutee! <3

  • aww! gerbils usually dont care that u pet them if they are eating sunflower seeds! just like my baby boy Onyx! <3 he is so sweet!

  • ONE of my roborovski hamsters lets me do that, the other one runs away

  • your lucky in australia you arn't allowed hamsters as pets. anyways does any one know if your allowed to have gerbils as pets in weatern australia? plz reply soon

  • I DO NOT know, roborovski hamsters aren't from australia, they are from the asian deserts.

  • Cheating! You can actually stroke them without giving them food if you pet their flanks instead, with the inside of your finger. We don't have enough control of our hands to pet them on top, we just end up pushing them around ^^

  • i have two gerbils

  • mine let me stroke them even when there not eating, but they wont let you catche them unless your quick haha

  • It's cute the way a gerbil opens the husk of a seed, and just stands perched on it's back feet, staring into space.

  • I have the same bread of gebil.

  • Haha sweet! Our gerbil has cancer =( Dont think he has much time left.. He doenst have pain yet tho =)

  • I stroke my gerbil every night. I like it.

  • @MKShaggy1985 haha a sex joke?

  • it sure was, SHE said that

  • that's what SHE said

  • Aww cute! <3 My gerbils let me pet them whenever I want as long as I don't touch their heads, they hate that O_o;

  • ahh, gerbils are so adorable when they come up to the screen, or your face. Their whiskers always tickles me xD

  • my gerbils would just make a run for it :)

  • aw they r really cute my white baby gerbil buzz lets me rub her nose wen she is in a hole she builds herself she lets me stroke her nose till she falls asleep

  • that is not hard at all i can do it with out giving them food.

  • Gerbil here let us pet them.

  • one of my gerbils was eating a peanut on his second floor of their "manson" and dropped the peanut and it fell through the floor and he started chewing on it then i got the peanut and he learned to eat on the first floor haha

  • I have 2 white gerbils called phineas and pherb check out my vid:]

  • this reminds me of my lil buffy ;( she had a heart attack :( :'(€ im thinkin off gettin another 2 but i have mice at the mo, THEY STINK, only had them for a day, but my parents makin me get rid of them cause of the smell... :'( so i might get another gerbil, i relaly want female mice though

  • Smell? Uhh all you got to do is clean their cage. Geeeeez! lol! I have 2 gerbils right now I clean their cage every sunday. I've never had a problem with odor. I've had mice in the past and no problems then either.

  • i hate mice for less than 1 day, so the cage was clean! and they stank the house out so bad my parents made me get rid of em. i ave read online that male mice can be very smelly, one male mouse is as bad as 5 female mice! i have 2 new gerbils now instead, there awsome., and i know they dont smell as ive had them before

  • i had a mouse when i was little. he used to take the food and mix it with the water.

  • i tried that but when i gave her a piece of food she took it and ranaway XD

  • i think its so cute how gerbils open the seeds

  • I have one his name is Shadow

I love him sooo much <3

    but hes very old :(

  • i heard the golden gerbils live a short live .. is this true ?

  • no they live the same amount as regular gerbils

  • I don't think the color affects its age. it just depends on how you take care of them. my old gerbil, who was gold(the natural color of gerbils, actually called agouti) lived over 5 years.

  • @ZerakeCss94 : My one golden gerbil lived for almost 4 years ;)

But his brother only lived for 1 year :(

So I think some albinos live a little shorter than others.

  • @ZerakeCss94 4-5 years. if that's short to you then ya.

  • @ZerakeCss94 i think it's true because my golden gerbil died last year (my other one died last month! :'(''')

  • @ZerakeCss94 i dont think sooo

  • @ZerakeCss94 i'm not sure i had 3 gerbils and my golden one died from cancer at about mid age however the black and grey one died from old age :|

  • @ZerakeCss94

thats scary because 1 of my gerbils looks exactly like this 0_o

  • @ZerakeCss94 my golden gerbil outlived my dark one, got put down at the age of 3 years

  • @ZerakeCss94 2-3 years max.

  • @ZerakeCss94 I had a golden gerbil he died at 1 1/2 years...

  • @ZerakeCss94 3 to 5 years maybe even 6 if your lucky

  • @ZerakeCss94 i had a golden gerbil that lived for 7 years, only a few months off the world record actually (record at the time). hands down my gerbil was the best pet i've ever had, i loved that little guy.

  • aw cute! those 2 look like mine! check out my gerbil vid! :)

  • they look like my gerbil who just died tonight :(

  • my gerbil is calm and nice so i can pet her ears anytime :3

  • yes they can bite but they wont tend to draw blood

  • Do Gerbils bite? if so do they draw blood?

  • The gerbils I had never bit.

Only small furry animal I've had or seen others owned that bit and seems to love it was hamsters.

  • Ive had gerbils that have bit me out of frieght and yeah they drew blood

my current gerbil has never bit me though

  • not saying that this is a bad video or anything but how the hell 88,000+ views

  • can someone help me i just got a gerbil like two days ago nd its not a baby but i think its a young one because its not fully grown but its kinda jumpy especially when i try to pick it up and its a bit scared i think????

    any tips???

  • young gerbils usally are jumpy it is natural but if it happens to get loose put food around the house if it doesnt come out for the food put lease in areas and more in one part

  • just let it get used to you, put ur hand in the cage everyday untill it recognizes u

  • i do but put my hand in the cage sometimes it comes closer and investigates my hand by biting me and touching lol. and other times just runs away into the tubes when i put my hand in the cage.

  • hmm. how long have u had it? it could take about a week for it to get used to you, and have u ever tried holding a treat in your palm as well?

  • have had it for nearly a week now, and also i just bought another one yesterday its hes brother so he wont be lonely lol. but yeah there both getting used to me now but sometimes they get startled when i make sharp moves.lol

  • Well, you sound like a dedicated owner, so I'm sure with a bit more persitence you'll have them tamed in no time. Good luck!

  • it has to get used to you so you should tame it for a while. just put a cheerio, raisin, or sunflower in the palm of your hand and move your hand up to him slowly and he should take it. then you should be able to pick him up by putting one hand under his body and the other hand under his neck, but i think it's scared because he's all alone in the cage. didn't the pet store owner or whoever tell you you should buy more than one?

  • yes i have bought another one like a week ago and its hes brother so hes not alone anymore.but i have had some progress they are not as jumpy and shy as before so thanks 4 the help EVERYONE.
