Who the hell comes up with these methods? The box method just seems like someone made it up without any scientific basis, but later proved it worked. Then it caught on. It's just too odd.
You might want to rake over the tracks in the trap, after measuring and photographing them. Then check the trap after next the probe. Make more traps if you can determine the most likely approach. $.02 lol
Question: Realistically, what size hostile element do you think are most plausible in your area? Keep in mind the logistics required to feed, clothe, shelter, and arm that group.
Nice instructions. I usually try to practice on trails, but never could find out how many there were. By the way I think you were on some show I watched on Nat. Geographic. Keep up the good work.
Good video. To all who want to learn Tracking in fine detail, buy "The Science & Art of Tracking" by Tom Brown Jr. Build a 4'x8' sand box , fill with sand and have people walk, run, stop, turn, trot, jump, fall, stand and turn their head, torso, raise arms, aim a weapon ect. Have them do as many activities as you can think of, then look at tracks after each. It's important to learn to read Pressure Releases, of which there are over 5,000.Then start changing soil types. It takes years.
I wouldnt put my weapon on the ground.Better to find a stick or cut a branch, 550 cord or whatever.Never the rifle.Specially if hunting down bad guys.
@marlin187 That is a great point and I should have put out a instrutional tracking video and Iam planing on doing so. The tracker is not doing security at all their is a security element that is security and the trackers are just tracking this is a full time job and you have to keep your eyes on the ground so you dont miss things. Little things people that know they are being tracked or will be tracked can do things to confuse the trackers and its these little details that can help trackers.
@southernprepper1 Like you said if your by yourself or dont have a tracking team a string would probably work best. That way you can keep your hands on your weapon and dont have to carry a stick around. Thanks for pointing this out.
Nice info. Here is a tip for following tracks, human or any other animal. Put two rubber bands, or string, or some other such items on your walking stick. When you are following tracks, lie the stick down and place the bands on two of the tracks in order to measure the gap. Keep the bands there. If you lose the track, go to the last clear track you had and place down the stick. This should give you a half circle area to find the next footprint.
Just wanted to let you know I think your videos are great, very informative and learning a lot of information. I actually came across your video's through sootch. After watching some of your scenario videos, I though it would be cool instead of talking to camera "us" as a person, what about trying to almost use the camera as a video diary type setup in a post wrol situation. Just a thought maybe see how that works. Keep up the great work
What if you placed a game camera aimed at your track trap or any funnel point where the enemy has to go through to get at you? This is all new to me so please don't slam me too bad.
@badbrainprep Totally agree we would have to know if it was at the beginning of the crash or way into it. Closer to the start probably they have alot of ammo farther in more scrounging for ammo.
There will be no Wal-Mart to run and get ammo from, so in a WROL people will scrounge what ammo they can get. That may mean people loading out of more than one box of ammo.
Just a suggestion, but some grenades at the edge of the kill zone, or claymoors sited in to cover areas of the kill zone can do wonders on an attacking force let alone a probing recon.
@Hefferman1 From what I have heard, a grid down, or econ collapse, there will be 100 million dead in the first 6 months..the rest will be in the wilds, stripping everything as they go.... this is getting scary.
@southernprepper1 - GREAT VIDEO! I haven't seen some of the situations that you have posted on youtube by anyone else and I think they are definitely things that need to be covered. Thanks for taking the time.
I like the use of the scenario and the way you mention NV and food preps in there. I wanted to pick up some NVG's but finances wouldn't allow it! So my scenario would most likely be worse!
@BALJIT147 Because I saw my son walk thru there with his boots on . No just joking... by the print. i wore the boots like that for years. It leaves a print there might be a civilian print that looks the same but I havent seen one. But honestly I havent seen alot of prints from civilian boots. Just by studying what the military is using.
@southernprepper1 oh ok i was just wondering because i have (as a civilian) steel toe construction boots and i was wondering how to tell the difference
@SturmKorps Iam not a expert on dogs. Ive learned a few things to counter a dog and a tracker that I will share when I do my tracking white board class. But Iam not a expert on dogs. I have a friend that is on security dogs and he will probably assist me on a video he has some great dogs.
@bajnaj73 A sling for me gets in the way so a simple piece of 550 cord and thats it. This help when I go from left to right shoulder. Its just something Ive used in the military and its just how I do it. Iam actually looking at another system Iam going to upgrade I think. Its hard to teach a old dog and new trick but I think its time.
If I get time tonight I will put out the white board version on tracking. Just info to help you. Tracking is pretty hard to teach over the internet but I will give you some info to hopefully help you.
The intel tells me that two of the recon team were pros, and one was not. This would suggest they may be short handed. If they stopped firing after you did, then I would add that info to your intel in the trap and come to the conclusion that your target is too hard. They "may" move on to easier pickings. Stay alert none the less.
@STfrontiersman --Exactly!!! He could have been the sniper! Civilian shoes don't guarantee a untrained attacker, but ALL the evidence can point to a workable conclusion, otherwise why go on a recon to figure out what you're dealing with. Personally, I put my money on the idea that the civy shoe is a non military trained individual. I say that because the track looked like a tennis shoe pattern. That's a huge clue!
You mentioned 2 military footwear and one civy pair. You also mentioned 2 separate AR type weapons and one civy 30.06 weapon. One might surmise that the 2 AR's belonged to the 2 enemy wearing Military boots and the 30.06 belonged to the civy footwear. It's not an exact science, but great probability.
hey, keep it down up there
