You should create a minecart track that connects the Sea Cove, the lighthouse, and the original area in a triangle. Then you could use the original to be able to make "checkpoints", which are small but crappy houses that you can go to to store things, craft things, and have protection when you're no where nar the Sea Cove.

ps- the minecart track would work better underground. Hope you like the idea! :3

Idea for lighthouse: Tower of your choice of block (gravel, stone, wood, glass, etc.) topped with glowstone box. BUT not a completely sealed box. Leave five openings for glass and a hollow middle. Now put lava into the middle and what do you get? Glowstone lava box for the lighthouse's light thingy. PS: The glass should be on each side and top. Not the bottom.
