I'm not really worried about power, honestly. But I do have money to spend, and I did drop $400 on it, and yes spending money on customizing cars in general is frivolous and maybe even irresponsible, but if it makes you happy and you can afford it, then do it. Right? And, of course, you should do it the right way if you can. So I got a real Mugen piece, instead of getting something that will sound different in 9 months. But if you can't afford it then yeah, buy a replica. Do what you gotta do.
@MrDillon10 It's a real twin loop but it says right on the title that it's a replica. It's got fiberglass packing that will burn out over time because of the lack of steel fiber insulation.
did you look inside the muffler? cause it might not even really be a twin loop design. lol. could just look like it but really its a single pipt straight through
@crazy4bb20 dude read his comment first first sentence he doesnt worried about power and he want i real mugen so it doesnt sound different in 9 months and he got money to spend so let him maybe he want to keep the car for a while i got a srs twinloop mugen replica look on my chanel but if its gonna change soon i really hope not because i like it right now till 4000 rpm its sound nice and sick and police polite hahahah but after that its great low deep sound not rice at all beter then megan sound
no... going over a certain mph does NOT engage vtec. vtec engages when your ecu reads that there is load on the transmission. ie 1st-5th gear. has nothing at all to do with mph
Actually there is a sensor that reads how fast you are going. And vtec wont engage unless you are going above a certain mph. So no, vtec will not engage while sitting there.
I know it goes by rpm. But there is a sensor that makes sure you are over a certain MPH before vtec will kick in when in first gear. Thats why you cant engage vtec while just sitting there.
happa13 - what exactly is this 'V-TAK' you speak of? The reason for the raspy sound, there is a loop created inside and around the backbox... when the exhaust gases reach the internal loop they are in a matter of speaking swirling untill they exit the backbox.
Oh and the v-tec solenoid works on rev limits, the car can be standing still to engage v-tec!
That's only 'alright.' Stock internals, eh? GSR? I can hear the V-TEC switch in and out, but jesus man. Do some more work to it. You're getting that ricey civic sound once you hit V-TEC.
You're joking right? v-tec will not engage unless the car is in motion. You can rev it all you want but if the car is standing still it will not switch on. If anything you MIGHT be hearing the gsr's dual stage intake runners... but thats it.
In any case, i have the same muffler and it doesn't sound like that. It could have to do with your piping. If you do not have a resonator, or you have crush bent piping instead of mandrel bent it can have an affect on the sound.
calling me a fruit? i never said it was a real mugen muffler, i had the exact same muffler as him. i know how good this muffler can sound if the rest of the system is built right. V-TAK will NOT engage if the car is standing still, the raspy sound comes from exhaust pulses either leaking from the piping, being squeezed through bends with crush bent piping or reduced piping diameter.
must be from ebay :D

yeah you're right
michaelcromley 4 years ago
@jaknichols85 no. vtec wont kick in while in place because the motor has to be under a load.. it doesnt matter how fast your going.
