those exhaust headers are made by cmi they are fully waterjacketed before the collector. hence why they stay so cool.

Even with just plain Merc 525's, that cat is set for a solid 110 M.P.H. easily. Remember it's catamaran, they weigh well less than v-bottom's of the same size. Less weight, more speed with less horsepower.

@Lynchfan88 The main reason cats are faster than Vs is less hull in the water due to air in the center tunnel forcing the hulls up. All things(weight, motors, drives, props)being equal, cats are 12-15mph faster than Vs. As an example, the 42' Fountain V "Catkiller" ran 177 with Sterling 1500s and #6 drives. The 42' Mercedes MTI cat ran 193 with the same engines and drives. And I bet they are within 500lbs being the same weight. I give Fountain all respect for that speed but still slo

its only got twin 525s? thats only 1200 horses.. yea thats alot but ive seen 45 fters with trip 700s that kick out around 2100 horses i expected a whole lot more from a racing boat

@ilikebigpie You must not have got to 4th grade math. Those motors make 525hp at the crank and 500hp at the prop. 525x2=1050 not 1200.

@ilikebigpie Nah dude, Merc 525's are 525 cubic inches each, only around 500 H.P. Merc 500 EFI's are 500 cubic inches and around 485 horsepower.

Hope everyone knows that there are more than one boat in this video there not the same look at the exhaust placement and one is dry exhaust and one is wet so prob differant motor set ups
