a saw a video by surgical gown. He did not suture through one side of the skin, then the other. Instead, he just passed it through the whole opening. Why's that? ( simple interrupted )
@JoGenJG It's faster that way. You should do it only if you are experienced, in that case, a surgeon. If you're a student, you shouldn't, otherwise you'll screw up. Believe me, I know.
@JoGenJG As a medstudent I cannot say much, but I've seen some interns who tried to do that, they get a nasty suture that are obviously wrong. I mean, the distance from the injury edge to the spot where the suture goes in has to be the same on both sides; if not, you get more tension on one side and the skin wrinkles. When a surgeons make it, they do it rapidly, everything is symmetrical, they don't hesitate when placing suture, and looks good.
thank you very much. i've attended a skills in suturing seminar and everything was fast forward.. at least these videos and lectures in one helps me to understand suturing better.
i agree with you. he's good in tieing with fingers. hehe. i can't follow him in an instant, i have to repeat the video a lot more times to catch up.. hehe.. thanks for sharing.. :D

There is no 1'0 size of suture! The sizes come down lets say from 2 to 1 to 0 then straight to 2'0 (you better double check before you post here)

@afm74
0 is 1-0 (you don't need the 1 in front of the 0 since, with suture guage sizes smaller than 1, it is the number of zeroes. ex: 4-0 is actually 0000)

Very informative. Good video, although you'd need to pause or replay certain parts to catch all of what is said. Thanks for sharing this!
