I went to the zoo. There was no signs of neglect, the animals had plenty of space and social interaction (if applicable). If anything, zoos are a safe haven, where animals don't have to be constantly fighting to survive and be in fear of getting eaten on a daily basis.
Stop basing your ideas off Disney movies and realize that animals aren't the same as us, they don't desire the same things...

@mariahisfire I'm against inadequate spacing, but have you ever been to a zoo? They have large areas for monkeys, tigers, elephants, etc. and don't cram them into cages like they did in the early 1900s.

I do not agree you put all zoos under one badge, Just as there are very good dog owners and cruel dog owners there are very good zoos, who have large natural exhibits and give their animals the best care and food and zoos with small exhibits, poor care etc. I do not think you can judge all as one

this video is way to general. without zoo's hundreds of animal species would be extinct due to poaching. Zoo's are essential to the survival of many species such as big cats, rhinos, primates and everything in between. There are 100's of amazing zoo's across the world and only a minority are bad. I have worked in a zoo and the love, compassion and understanding the zoo had for its animals was amazing. All the animals had a full filling life and the breeding programs were brilliant. Just think.
okay well i like what you are doing and all but zoo's are not the worse and actually yes breeding programs do cause deformities but that happens with every animal. it isn't so much the breeding program just the genes and if they add any medications or other non natural things to a pregnant animals diet. the real deformities come from dog and cat breeding. those are from over breeding. the zoos also breed to repopulate some animals because we have caused so many to come close to extinction

All zoos should be shut down , and animals go free.But the problem is that they can't hunt for themselfs and will starve to death.Some zoos are so terrible (Ukraine, Russia) that I could stop crying while on zoo tour.Greedy bas...rds don't care about animals, they treated porly, very poor veterinary service(I worked as a vet in Ukraine zoo) because not enouth money to buy medicaments and treat them.Very sad!
Do not generalize! Many zoo follow the conservation programs of endangered species would not survive in nature because of the small number of individuals and then problems of inbreeding!

I have mix emotions. You are categorizing all zoo's and leading people astray. People should do research on their zoo before saying "I am never going to one again!" because some zoo's promote and teach about the importance of animal conservation.
The San Diego Zoo does a wonderful job with conservation learning and putting the money where it is needed.
Meanwhile, the Tiger Temple keeps no record of their tigers and sedate them so people can take picture with them.
What is worse are people who keep exotic animals as "pets" and shove large animals, such as lions, in tiny backyard cages. It should be illigal in all states for private individuals to keep exotics, especially big cats, poisonous snakes & lizards, etc.
Some of the pictures you showed had nothing to do with the zoo (two headed snake). Some deformities are common, even in the wild. Survival of the fittest would show they die early, however. Zoos give them a chance, just like people give people with mental/physical disabilities a chance.

People who work there love animals, and most of the animals they take in have been abandoned and would not survive on their own in the wild. Most zoos aim at convenience and happiness of the pet. If there is cruelty in zoos its minor and needs to be straightened, but zoos are those animals last chance. Support your zoo instead of bashing it, donate to help the animals.

It's horrible but you have to look how many animals are treated with respect, there are many Nature reserves where they cannot be touched by humans, and look at all the people that look their pets like a member of family like me, humans can treat animals with respect, but its just sad that allot of people don't see how horrible what they are doing is.
I think you might need to look around more often. what cages it mostly shows are the inner rooms of the animals real living space. outside there is more space. more then the inner rooms.
and basically if you dont have real proof of animla breeding in zoos cause deformations, then dont put that in dear. the camel is simply chewing, the tiger is photoshopped etc.

yesturday,i was at the grocery store with my mom,and we seen 2 dogs in a car,with no air and the windows were open just like an inch,we seen them when we walked in and when we walked out,we were there for a half hour.When the lady came back,my mom said"That is neglect!" the lady flipped my mom off and drove away.Now she's just gonna go do it again! That made me sick!(BTW,it's like was like 105 degrees outside! So it was like 120 degrees in there)

In the US, the top five zoos are all for conservation. Breeding of endangered animals and more natural exibites are a few of them. For example, my zoo was fined 5,000 dollars for the bear exibits being to small. As a resault, there going into a 10,000 dollar, 15 year remodling program to redo there bear and seal lion exibits. There hoping to do the bird and monkey houses later, once they get the money after that. I dont know what to say about the others. In case your wondering, my zoo ranks 7th.

My zoo recognizes and cares about this matter. Every animal has a big, nice shelter to roam around in, they don't abuse them (other than putting them in large garage like things with food, water, and members of their exhibit when it is winter, which isn't abuse,it's care. They would freeze out there.). And it literally says somewhere on a sign that they made a pledge to be animal-friendly and non-abusers.

This video actually made me cry. I feel soo bad for these animals. I can't speak for other zoos but our local zoo the Cleveland Metroparks zoo takes wonderful care of their animals. They have alot of room to run around and sleep and whatever else they enjoy doing in the wild. Their wolf exibit is awsome they actually have you in an inclosed building while the wolves run around outside. But please pay attention if you think someone is abusing animals then call the police no matter where your at!

Those two Zoos are in Ontario, Canada. Both horrible places. I went there expecting an amazing animal adventure, but came out with the very least. The Elmvale was much, much better, but not perfect as well. A petting zoo and all, but still had a few signs of neglect. They also had many more interesting animals, like White Tigers, and many I forget, but are amazing to see. I am not sponsering them, but they r bad...

The Piglets needed their mother, and had to eat crackers and slop, and even would fight (at 2 weeks old!) over the animal food people could buy and feed to the animals. Also at this zoo, there were 2 snakes, one an Anoconda, and it was in a cage about the size of 1m by 1m. It was cramped in there, just piling on itself!
Sadly, many Monkeys, Giraffes, Elephants, Camels, Birds like flamingos, & other animals suffered too....
Again, The Toronto Zoo is horrible, and I suggest no one goes to it. My family bought a season pass, and we only went once! They decide which animals to get rid of so they can get cooler ones. For example, one was: Get rid of the Beavers for Pandas? Also, the Elmvale Zoo. They had 5 Pot Bellied Piglets, only 2 weeks old, and suposetly, sold their mother, even though it is a 99% chance she was sent away to slaughter. The Piglets were 2 weeks, and stick thin...
At the Toronto Zoo, there is a bald eagle, and its cage is about the size of a small closet, wings clipped and everything. In Toronto there are also Cheetas with cages the size of a bedroom, and Polar bears, passed out and depressed on what they call, "Ice burgs". There are also Parrots, forced to live on a branch, hovering over a water fall and pool of water, again, with their wings clipped, and nothing to do but sit and look pretty. (SEE MY OTHER COMMENTS THAT CONTINUE ABOUT TORONTO ZOO)
@Melchildd i agree animals should be in an area that resembles their natural environment and that they also should have adequate space to move around. however, i do understand why birds wings are clipped especially in a zoo, they are clipped so they cant fly away. the animals were bought and paid for and itd be kind of useless to buy a bird just to have it fly away on you. im pretty sure if you bought a parrot from a pet store you would want to clip its wings so it doesnt fly away, but good vid
A bunch of lions were rescued from cramped conditions like those at 1;52 from a very poor zoo, not sure where. They were all over the news here in england, and now they are safe in a huge enclosure with a waterfall and everything in a zoo in Doncaster. :)

The baby elephant photos and many are from circuses... There are crack-pot zoos and stuff out there... But some, like the San Diego zoo and such try. I goto the Phoenix Zoo, which is privately owned, not city owned... They do a great job IMO for what land they are limited too... but at times, its all we have

this video is way to general. without zoo's hundreds of animal species would be extinct due to poaching. Zoo's are essential to the survival of many species such as big cats, rhinos, primates and everything in between. There are 100's of amazing zoo's across the world and only a minority are bad. I have worked in a zoo and the love, compassion and understanding the zoo had for its animals was amazing. All the animals had a full filling life and the breeding programs were brilliant. Just think.

okay well i like what you are doing and all but zoo's are not the worse and actually yes breeding programs do cause deformities but that happens with every animal. it isn't so much the breeding program just the genes and if they add any medications or other non natural things to a pregnant animals diet. the real deformities come from dog and cat breeding. those are from over breeding. the zoos also breed to repopulate some animals because we have caused so many to come close to extinction

Do not generalize! Many zoo follow the conservation programs of endangered species would not survive in nature because of the small number of individuals and then problems of inbreeding!
Then there are also species not at risk that help to increase visitors because without money nothing is done, unfortunately!

I have mix emotions. You are categorizing all zoo's and leading people astray. People should do research on their zoo before saying "I am never going to one again!" because some zoo's promote and teach about the importance of animal conservation.
The San Diego Zoo does a wonderful job with conservation learning and putting the money where it is needed.
Meanwhile, the Tiger Temple keeps no record of their tigers and sedate them so people can take picture with them.

Some of the pictures you showed had nothing to do with the zoo (two headed snake). Some deformities are common, even in the wild. Survival of the fittest would show they die early, however. Zoos give them a chance, just like people give people with mental/physical disabilities a chance.

I think you might need to look around more often. what cages it mostly shows are the inner rooms of the animals real living space. outside there is more space. more then the inner rooms.
and basically if you dont have real proof of animla breeding in zoos cause deformations, then dont put that in dear. the camel is simply chewing, the tiger is photoshopped etc.
(oh and the baby elephant wasnt harmed, just recived medical treatment.)

yesturday,i was at the grocery store with my mom,and we seen 2 dogs in a car,with no air and the windows were open just like an inch,we seen them when we walked in and when we walked out,we were there for a half hour.When the lady came back,my mom said"That is neglect!" the lady flipped my mom off and drove away.Now she's just gonna go do it again! That made me sick!(BTW,it's like was like 105 degrees outside! So it was like 120 degrees in there)

In the US, the top five zoos are all for conservation. Breeding of endangered animals and more natural exibites are a few of them. For example, my zoo was fined 5,000 dollars for the bear exibits being to small. As a resault, there going into a 10,000 dollar, 15 year remodling program to redo there bear and seal lion exibits. There hoping to do the bird and monkey houses later, once they get the money after that. I dont know what to say about the others. In case your wondering, my zoo ranks 7th.

My zoo recognizes and cares about this matter. Every animal has a big, nice shelter to roam around in, they don't abuse them (other than putting them in large garage like things with food, water, and members of their exhibit when it is winter, which isn't abuse,it's care. They would freeze out there.). And it literally says somewhere on a sign that they made a pledge to be animal-friendly and non-abusers.

I can't speak for other zoos but our local zoo the Cleveland Metroparks zoo takes wonderful care of their animals. They have alot of room to run around and sleep and whatever else they enjoy doing in the wild. Their wolf exibit is awsome they actually have you in an inclosed building while the wolves run around outside. But please pay attention if you think someone is abusing animals then call the police no matter where your at!

some animals are used to enclosed spaces and some are endangetred thats why they are in zoos for breeding projects foe example tha white rino. and mostare in the zoo for educatinal purpouses too.

Those two Zoos are in Ontario, Canada. Both horrible places. I went there expecting an amazing animal adventure, but came out with the very least. The Elmvale was much, much better, but not perfect as well. A petting zoo and all, but still had a few signs of neglect. They also had many more interesting animals, like White Tigers, and many I forget, but are amazing to see. I am not sponsering them, but they r bad...

The Piglets needed their mother, and had to eat crackers and slop, and even would fight (at 2 weeks old!) over the animal food people could buy and feed to the animals. Also at this zoo, there were 2 snakes, one an Anoconda, and it was in a cage about the size of 1m by 1m. It was cramped in there, just piling on itself!
Sadly, many Monkeys, Giraffes, Elephants, Camels, Birds like flamingos, & other animals suffered too....

Again, The Toronto Zoo is horrible, and I suggest no one goes to it. My family bought a season pass, and we only went once! They decide which animals to get rid of so they can get cooler ones. For example, one was: Get rid of the Beavers for Pandas? Also, the Elmvale Zoo. They had 5 Pot Bellied Piglets, only 2 weeks old, and suposetly, sold their mother, even though it is a 99% chance she was sent away to slaughter. The Piglets were 2 weeks, and stick thin...

At the Toronto Zoo, there is a bald eagle, and its cage is about the size of a small closet, wings clipped and everything. In Toronto there are also Cheetas with cages the size of a bedroom, and Polar bears, passed out and depressed on what they call, "Ice burgs". There are also Parrots, forced to live on a branch, hovering over a water fall and pool of water, again, with their wings clipped, and nothing to do but sit and look pretty. @Melchildd i agree animals should be in an area that resembles their natural environment and that they also should have adequate space to move around. however, i do understand why birds wings are clipped especially in a zoo, they are clipped so they cant fly away. the animals were bought and paid for and itd be kind of useless to buy a bird just to have it fly away on you. im pretty sure if you bought a parrot from a pet store you would want to clip its wings so it doesnt fly away, but good vid

A bunch of lions were rescued from cramped conditions like those at 1;52 from a very poor zoo, not sure where. They were all over the news here in england, and now they are safe in a huge enclosure with a waterfall and everything in a zoo in Doncaster. :)

The baby elephant photos and many are from circuses... There are crack-pot zoos and stuff out there... But some, like the San Diego zoo and such try. I goto the Phoenix Zoo, which is privately owned, not city owned... They do a great job IMO for what land they are limited too... but at times, its all we have
