In Slim Ps2, the lid which you open to set a DVD, when closed, sends throught some sort of circuit, the message: Lid Closed, Start Running. However, if this tiny little circuit does not operate as should, games shall not run. Search for professional maintenance is required. In order to detect the problem which I'm speaking, try an simple test: Set an DVD game on PS2 Slim and then, hold the lid closed, if the game run normally, then, it is as I told, otherwise, may also be damage on mother plate.

My god! YouTube has some of the biggest dumbasses I've ever seen.

Yes, there isn't a game in the console, so it would go to the menu, but can you notice something strange? It's taking longer than usual to get to the menu. Usually, when there isn't anything in the console, the "blue cloud" makes it's sound and then goes to the menu after "Sony Computer Entertainment" disappears, but not here.

if your ps2 makes a clicking sound,lube the guide rails that the lazer runs along, it may b jamming up hence the clicking noise it happend to mine a few days ago,mine had been stood 4 some years i got it out 4 my little nephew,quick tlc and its fine.

the lens is dirty or something with the laser happened. try a clean disc first (discs with these brushes)

or open the ps2 and clean the lens. (CAREFULLY, you could destroy the lens)

ive done that i opend it and cleaned the lens it really clean but i just wont read the disk and the disk is perfect with no scratches. i even bought another game and tested it and it wont read it just clicks and clicks but it only plays certain games work fine its weird

the worst thing for a ps2 is dvds and dust i no this a i fix ps2 and i have 10 of them and most of them were cloged with dust and i cleaned them out and they work fine and dvd kill the laser faster and standed the ps2 up right too kill the laser

Try opening it and cleaning off the lens, the little lazer thing that reads the disks, with alcohol. It works, and try dusting off the fan.
