Spending millions of pesos from their government funds just to send contingents for a showdown of festivals. 6.2 MILLION should have been a great help for a mid-sized city with a so so income. Still the amount is not enough to win the CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE OF ALIWAN. i know its so frustrating, dats why i understand the bitterness and pain our ilonggo brothers has been suffering for 4 years. Who cares... the thing is, Lumad will not have the chance to compete in the Int'l Street Theater Festival in 2011 because it is not legible to join Aliwan anymore.
It was Aliwan who inducted Lumad to Hall of Fame, ergo it was Aliwan too who prevented Lumad to get the chance to perform in the Intl Street Theater Festival. CONGRATULATIONS FOR THE HALL OF FAME AWARD.
Lumad is not the only tribe in CEBU we can send all 40 contingents if we like. But our government is not prioritizing to promote our festival internationaly, coz its already internationaly renowed. no more advertisemnts needed. infact 5 million spectators come to watch SINULOG dis year & the crowd is just getting bigger & bigger every year. nerkami nag sabi na pangit ang ibang festival maliban sa sinulog... dahil sila ang nag unang mang sira sa dinagyang naka champion lng sila ang baba na ang tingin nila sa ibang festival.simula aliwan 2003 hanggang 2005 ang tahimik dito nag simula lng ng nag champion ang sinulog.. nanira kaagad mga pasaway haha sabagay malalaki ang ulo^^ di mo pa kasi kilala ang mgha ilonggo.. kilalanin mo muna bago ka mag ataki!. ^^ payung kaibigan lng ^^

Dinagyang started last 1970 to honor Sto. Nino, Sinulog followed in 1981.
Iloilo was the original Queen City of the South, Cebu grabbed it.
Ilonggo Festivals became famous after the ALiwan exposure, Sinulog wanted the same, they also sent contingents.
Lakbayaw Festival copied Dinagyang routines to the last detail.

ILOILO still has not proven anything in ALIWAN. Spending millions of pesos from their government funds just to send contingents for a showdown of festivals. 6.2 MILLION should have been a great help for a mid-sized city with a so so income. Still the amount is not enough to win the CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE OF ALIWAN. i know its so frustrating, dats why i understand the bitterness and pain our ilonggo brothers has been suffering for 4 years. I can understand their thirst of winning coz we've been there

Ows. FYI, since nag start yung aliwan, Iloilo has been consistent in top 3s. And anu ang nangyari last year after aliwan? They were invited to makati's grand parade. Yung Lumad? Saan? Wala nman. Kahit natalo ang dinagyang last year sila pa rin ang in demand.

ANG NAGING KAPALARAN NG CEBU FESTIVAL NGAYONG 2009:
1) Napahiya sa Sinulog, sarili nilang mga contingents tinalo pa ng Sinanduloy from Misamis & Buyogan from Leyte.
2) Lumad & Carmen, 2 of their great contingents in Aliwan 2008 were not declared winners because of recycled routines.
3) Conflicts between Osmena & Carmen, Alcoy was sen to Aliwan despite the so-so performance
4) Lumad inducted in the Aliwan Hall of Fame, cant perform in Aliwan & in the Int'l Street Theater Festival

5) Conflicts within Sinulog resulted to a less funding & support for the contigents, only one contingent was sent.
6) No float represented Cebu.
7) Cebu had the grandest entries in Aliwan 2008, what happened to 2009? 10th place!
--> a good consolation came when Miss Sinulog won as Aliwan Fiesta Queen 2009!
Consistently placing in the top three is better than winning three times in a row then followed by a 10th place.

Who cares... the thing is, Lumad will not have the chance to compete in the Int'l Street Theater Festival in 2011 because it is not legible to join Aliwan anymore.
It was Aliwan who inducted Lumad to Hall of Fame, ergo it was Aliwan too who prevented Lumad to get the chance to perform in the Intl Street Theater Festival. CONGRATULATIONS FOR THE HALL OF FAME AWARD.

Lumad is not the only tribe in CEBU we can send all 40 contingents if we like. But our government is not prioritizing to promote our festival internationaly, coz its already internationaly renowed. no more advertisemnts needed. infact 5 million spectators come to watch SINULOG dis year & the crowd is just getting bigger & bigger every year. We prioritize dvelopment & progress here, hindi lang kasi festival ang alam namin. Infact we cebuanos excel in many fields both localy and internationally

The measure of how many people come into a festival doesn't necessarily mean that you have the best festival in the country. And your festival is not the only one that holds millions of spectators. well thats the point my friend more people came here to watch sinulog. Many tourist both locally and internationally come here just to witness the event. BEST TOURISM EVEN is just a title given by a few people what matters for us is the overwhelming influx of domestic tourist and International toursits from diff parts of the world and from all walks off life. Everyone cant just seem to get enough about SINULOG.

All I can say FestivalQueen, SO DOES DINAGYANG!! Many tourist both locally and internationally come here just to witness the event. BEST TOURISM EVENT is a VERY GREAT TITLE given to the one who deserves it. Again. It is not only your festival that attracts people both locally and internationally. SO DOES DINAGYANG & evry other festivals. Combined of having the title of BEST TOURISM TITLE which to you is nothing but to us is everything and still is well known to most cebuanos like you.
