@tkidd61245 straight up you do your shit right youll bang 2600 rms all day most dont know you need a good alternator to keep it at 14.4 to get that 2600 flowing most just have stock and say oh no not rated rms but dont know they need more than a amp and subs
@tkidd61245 when im even banging 1200 rms it goes below 14.4 volts , probably right at 14 v so its going low, now if i had 2600 rms itll be even worse
the reson the amp blew was if the battery life go low and the amp was straing and 2 if your going to have the amp coverd up go to radio shack and buy the small computer fans and try to put it close to the amp to release the heat from the amp look at my set up i have fans under the wood in front of the amps but u cant see them
@haterproof1on1 yea i found that out after i went to ii for all this shit... this is all my old stuff old news.. but im def gonna be rocking like 4 or 5 fans b.c i have 3 amps going to my shit and it will get hot. also my two sub amps are lifted off the ground to so that air will flow better.
Nice. Try getting thicker gauge speaker wire. Duh. All those nice thick wires and your speakers are hungry for power. I have rockford fosgate 2000 watts subs and the terminals take 4 gauge speaker wire sonn yeahhhh!

itmight help in the future if you use an appropriate sized capacitor if you don't want a high output alternater. that amp is a beast and needs all the juice it can get. the gain control is to match the signal from the cd player to that of the amp. if the manual with the amp doesn't offer help, i would take it to a shop and let them adjust it. and always make sure there is 2 inches minimum clearance at the top of the amp.
@rsmelto Dont use a capacitor or anything. Those things will do more harm than good if you have a stock electrical system. People that use caps in their stock electrical systems are noobs who dont know what a capacitor really does and how it effects your system. In a stock electrical system, all a capacitor will do is put MORE strain on your electrical system to try and keep itself charged, and not much of that goes to the amplifier in fact it gives the amp less power.
i know what a capacitor does. really, the most imporatant thing you can do is to replace the big 3 in the factory wiring. if i'm doing a high output system, i relace the alternator with a high output one and upgrade the battery as well.
@rsmelto Then why did you suggest getting a capacitor? A capacitor will ONLY help if you have a battery and alternator setup capable of keeping it charged while not draining all the power.
a capacitor is benefical IF you know how to use it. basically, it stores up power for big bass notes and relieves some of the strain with the car fighting for power, ie headlights going dim. it works well in MODERATE power systems with everything else being factory. by moderate, i mean a 400-500 watt amp.
it is not intended for a band-aid for when someone is powering a 2000 watt amp and too cheap to make appropriate electrical upgrades.
@rsmelto Wrong. Even with only a 500wrms system the cap will still drain the electrical system to try and keep itself charged while taking power AWAY from the amplifier rather than giving the amp more power. It might give the amp a short burst of power once, but thats it. Most stock electrical system cant even handle a 500wrms system.
@ntclongboarder Thats probably what caused it. Not having your gain set properly will cause clipping and kill the amplifier, as for the fire I dont know enough of how everything was set up but I dont think clipping will cause a fire....but it will def fry the amp. I had a BXi 1206D that got clipped to death, and the inside still smelled like new and looked like new. It pretty much couldnt handle running 11v for a year.
ya those are not channels the amp is like that to make wireing 2 dual voice copils easy. the amp is a 1 channel...... there is no way to wire dual 4 ohm subs and get a 2 ohm load on that amp...read the manual to the amp. im a car audio installer i know what im talking about right now ur geting a 1 ohm load or a 8 ohm load depending on how the subs are wired not .....
ur right never got a manual with it and its wired in parrelle getting 1 ohm and me to i just got done installer institute just wait in a few months ull see some bombass videos of wat im doing... in the end tho ima have my whole system ran off my ipod touch no headunit
Doesnt mean somebody go's to some school. I got basic and advanced MECP before I even knew how to put in a remote start! I realized it was a fuckin waste of money when I went to dynamics. All you need to become a good installer is a job where you do it, and a veteran that knows all to show you how its done. Takes years not semesters
you did a great job on making that realy sad but i did notice one thing on your pics what size wire were you useing if that is 4 gage that is the reason why it cought fire it drew to mutch curent and got to hot and i bet you that you used the ground from the kit you got witch is also 4 gage and all that curent had no where to go but up in smoke but you said you had a battery in the back to where is the battery isolator to isolate the two batterys. learn by your mistakes! try againBUILD IT BIGER
yes it was a 4 gage but that wasnt it and u can do 4 gague to an amp that size just cant have it at 1 ohm b.c the amp wount blow the wire will just melt. wat i did was turn bass up and gain and bottomed out my speakers so much the voice coils got fucked and fried the amp.... isolators are good and all but all it is is just dioides on a relay which one diode has a .7v drop not really fun just two fuses batween each battery.......
@baconbrandin 4 gauge will handle 1kwrms fine. It will pry get warm with that but will be fine. As for over 2kwrms, that may have been a bit much for that size wire but i doubt it was the cause of the fire. Especially if he used the correct fuse (100A). But if he was using a 100A fuse then he wasnt getting more than 1.5kwrms. Either way, 4 gauge probably wasnt the best idea for an amp that size.
the amp is a mono 1 chanel wit - - + + so its easy to hook up dual voice coils subs.. if you have 2 dual 4 ohm subs you can ony wire both of them to a 1 ohm load .. if you wire them both parrel the amp will see a 1 om load ... right now u have it at 1 ohm .... if u wire them series ten u have the amps seeing an 8 ohm load ...there is o wa in hell u have a 2 oh load with dual 4 ohm subs
yea those two channels are seeing 2 ohms each u parrel each speaker seperate that will give them a 2 ohm load with those two speakers i can get a 1,2,4,8 ohm load its not that hard and the --++ are litterly like 2 channels not like they make up one
what...i dont know how you can fry a 2600 watt amp. i got the same subs but the hifonics 2000 watt and i make them bitches slam. ive had that amp for a while now probly 2years and its a champ. subs too, first kicker subs and they didnt dissapoint me at all.
and i feel you on the nieghbor shit.i usually dont try to jam my system too loud around the crib but most of the time when i do this white foo like 7houses down comes out stands on his porch and jus stares my way.luckly he dont call the law
wen i did it all i didnt kno how to tune my amp and headunit and all that shit so i went wat gave me the loudest bass but didnt kno about distortion and my sups bottoming out and i let them do it so long that the coil got all fucked up and shorted the whole amp. ur right hifonics is the shit no doubt on that one its always human error if u fuck something up.... yea i got a neighboor that comes out and yells but the cops cant do shit unless they here it
i cant even if i tryed i hooked one up at 1700 and played it for like that at a car club fucking destroyed and still wouldnt blow like best speaker ever i cant kill them if i wanted to
There not expensive, compare to kicker or rf...They cheaper and produce more power for the price...Look on ebay...You want cheaper buy autotek direct from maxxsonics, they got amps that do 1700 rms at 1 ohm refurb for 135 each, they the mm1400.1 model
autotek is good and all but the only good amp they put out is the 5000 watt one which i dont think they make anymore but i kno a few ppl that have them and run like a champ
the best amp i ever had i just was demanding way to much power from it and wasnt giving it enough. i have a small car with a small alt so not enough volts in the end and thats y it did that
you'll never see 2600rms with that amp, sorry
