  • Should it be kind of like a sigh? I tried it and it almost felt like I had to cough (if that makes sense)

I don't see too many girls "screaming" so idk if i'm doing it right or not

  • nice shirt

  • damn dude awesome! thats what i call a scream! 3:18 - 3:36 i was like wtf!?, WOW! epic, i gotta learn how to do that now :D

  • thumbs up if a black guy sent you here. this vid actually gave me further insight. totally rad!

  • He looks very stuck up and like hes concentrating on his normal talking voice to make it sound deeper lol but on a good note verry very good at what he does i must say good job :)

  • Love your voice man, great explanation on it too. Definitely subbed. I checked out your band recordings and they are really good, great sound! Hope to hear more soon!!

  • His screams sound like Randy Blythe's of Lamb of God, in my opinion. :)

  • i've been getting pain in my lower left back from screams, feels like the muscle. is that from too much emphasis on diaphragm or something else i'm probably doing wrong?

  • I'm curious as well; where does your range top off at? I'm a deep voiced dude as well and I really dig your tone.

  • @Jamespm666 Chest voice, about a G on a good day. Counting mix/head, I have about a 4.5 octave usable range.

  • @InvictaMusic Well crap what the hell is wrong with my voice aha; if anything your speaking voice sounds deeper than mine. Kudos though, that's freaking awesome. If you don't mind me asking how long did you work for that range?

  • WHATT!! man chino should spit on this dude

  • i get it man u can sing.....

  • What's the name of the song he sings at 3:15 ???

    What's his name ?

  • Cans someone help me please!

    What does Trivium use?

    What does killswitchengage use?

And what does All that remains use in the song 'this calling'?

  • @SCMusic15 killswitch engage (with howard) and this calling both use exhale, more specifically false chord. trivium uses fry or power fry depending on what people call it

  • he wasn't even trying

  • does he do fry or false??

  • @SCMusic15

false, obviously since he was talking about using his false chords the whole time.

  • @TheOreoDisaster Look at Killswitch Engage.

  • What's that dudes bands name and what's the songs name that was amazing

  • That guy looks like simon if u cover his hair. A thinner version of simon c

  • 0:59 great part..

  • METALLL. lolsorry.

  • Is that inhale? iv been screaming for a wile. iv been watching the high singing vids because i want to get the high clean vox.

  • I honestly don't like your singing voice, however I find your technique outstanding and very impressive.

Just my tastes, good none the less.

  • @TheOreoDisaster then go listen to your fucking rap! -_- metal for life \m/

  • 2:34 wow!

Sounded so much like Freddie Mercury to me.

  • lmao @ the batman part XD

  • @TheOreoDisaster ahh nothing better than racism :)

  • Amazing job, and woah you've got webbed hands; that's awesome

  • @TheOreoDisaster I think Ray Charles stated that he saved his voice over the years by using his falls vocal chords a lot

  • Fucking awesome!!!!

  • @TheOreoDisaster Here you go champ

  • Dude like at first i didnt quite get what you were saying about how you do the distortion about how theres still singing underneath or whatever. Well i started messing around and dude! oh my josh i totaly get it know, yeah it did tickle but its been about a week sinse ive been practicing and it is starting do sound real good and im not having any problems with my throat like i used to when i tried to teach myself how to " scream " . Just wanted to say THANK YOU! :) <3

  • Men great singing !

Did you had to practice a lot so that the listener could understand what you are singing when you scream?

  • 2:36 wow :))))

  • he scared,,,,me fucking shit.. he's too cool. :p

  • hes taking a giant sanpaper covered dump at 0:41

  • @TheOreoDisaster I'll make sure I reference 40s, weed, and cop killing in my next song so you feel more at home.

  • @InvictaMusic I have worked with a big time vocal coach for the last ten years and one thing i've learned is that what ur doing takes a lot of hard work and focus to get it down as good as you have for that style of singing.I love it and really like the song at the end. As for the negative white boy comment, I've found that most people that talk down about your singing are just people that wish they could do what your doing but cant....Keep up the great work, All the best...J

  • @InvictaMusic Lmao

  • Awesome! Where can I find to listen full version of your song at the end?

  • When you first started, i'm assuming your voice would be raspy afterwards, or perhaps a bit sore. However, at the end of your video, your ability to easily transit from singing to screaming is no less than astounding, you are a great vocalist. My question is, when you first started did you have to get your vocal cords used to screaming before you could sing clearly at the same time? Or was it natural for you to switch back and forth with no problem singing after your first attempts at screaming?

  • @Slim2J @Slim2J It's not difficult to switch from distortion and back because the distortion isn't produced in the same location in the throat as your singing pitch. Check out the other tutorial videos for a more in-depth explanation, and thanks for the kind words.

  • @Slim2J Yeah when you "scream" your true vocal chords shouldn't ever engage bro. I Scream Growl and sing all day and the only time my voice ever feels sore is when I get sick and cant stop coughing. A lot of people refer to them as "false chords". The same chords you engage when whispering.

  • Who's the ride playing the guitar at the end?

  • @xXOrla95Xx D-J, the lead guitarist/primary songwriter for Invicta.

  • @InvictaMusic Good to know ;D

  • it hurts..

  • "there's no snot involved. " lmfaoo !

  • I have woundered about a one thing a long time and I'll be happy if you can respond. how do skillet's ( john cooper ) sing. what part's du he use. what technique

  • You've got a great voice man, always sort of wished I was a tenor, but you give hope to us deep voiced fellas haha.

  • yeah chino doesnt sound like hes killing himself at all....he switches from clean vocals to dirty like its nothing....he plays from his fucking heart and it doesnt seem to hurt him

  • but I love Deftones..

  • Meshuggah .....BITCHES

  • @InvictalMusic oh i see thank you : ) and by red what do you mean by that ??

  • He should have went one more stop and said they should stop altogether and not do it any more becasue there voice is not ment of that type of vocals style.

  • I KNOOOOOW! YOU'RE RIIIIIIIIGHT!

  • How do you practise using your bottom vocal chords? I NEED to learn to do this!

  • EWWWW

  • Thumbs up for the Alice In Chains tee shirt he's got on<3

  • 3:12 to 3:48 might be the worst thing i have ever heard

  • I want to talk like Christian Bale too!

  • eww he can not sing at all

  • @InvictaMusic Are you going to make lessons with them??...i don't think the screaming tutorials they currently have are as legit as yours

  • my screams are so much different lol. question: what if when i screamo scream, i'm actually like yelling but its still raspy enough, am i doing it correctly? like i went for volume cuz i wanted to be able to scream over my radio when me and a friend sing BFMV and i got a lot louder but its still like screaming cuz i know alot of people do almost whispering screams into a microphone

  • Does the Cd inthe singingsucccess do they have screaming lesson to :) ?

  • @rais3tong Yeah, they recently put up some screaming lessons with Michael Barnes from RED. They're not bad, if you can stomach being sold music products for 75% of it.

  • hey does singing success screaming teaching ?

  • it seems like this is hard for girls. i have trained to go way down low for like metal grumbles from way down in the stomach, i hear that a lot in girl fronted bands like otep etc..but this noise from the second chords has been so hard. i am wondering if it just comes down to the adams apple. it has been really hard to get the gruff.

  • That's fucking AWESOME!!!!

  • 3:08 - Isn`t that inhale scream?

  • @fongusman I believe he just didn't push out as much air, since he was just using the scream in an example.

  • what a loser

  • you got to do covers

  • Nice voice, really love it

  • hahh he got an alice in chains t-shirt :D

  • "and I still maintain chord closure UGGHHOOOOO" Made me laugh ;)

  • I personally prefer the kind of distortion used by Phil Anselmo, but you definitely have a great technique.

  • lol so true on the deftones comment, his voice is totally fucked now.

  • How did you find your false chords? i can scream but not really sure how to incorporate that edge into my regular singing voice.

  • Comment removed

  • dude...this is GENIUS!!

  • the one dislike is a dousher

  • What is the name of the song they play @ the end?

  • i have no idea what hes talking about... but that was really awsome

  • You need Christian Bale in your studio.

  • That's awesome, talking about his bottom cords, I didn't even realize.. I've been walking around using them when i was bored just making random noises, that's awesome :D

Also, this guy is fucking awesome

  • thanks cause I got what I don't wanna do while singing! I mean stylistically..don't get me wrong..:-)

  • Sounds good, one problem... can't really figure out what the bottom voice is... I know how to get a raspy voice that hurts to do after a few seconds, but that is obviously wrong I suppose...

  • Wow I didn't know metal had this much technique and was this... intellectual. I always thought it was just angry kids making random animal noises.

  • @Will403536 glad to know you´re a little less ignorant

  • @Will403536 HAHAHAH I second that.

  • @Will403536 some metal bands have the best singers/ instrumentists you will ever find, look for progressive metal, Dream Theater, Helloween, Stratovarius, Allen & Lande, inteligent music with intelligent lyrics...

  • good vid.

  • This is exactly what i need! at first,i couldn't sing metal at all, then i could sing something, but I always couldn't speak afterwords ... Then i figured out a way to save some of my voice, but it was not good enough . I started with a band, and to them i sound good, but i know it's not. and then i remembered that there's youtube to save my ass again! thanks!!!

  • is it realy true that if you dont know how to use music equipment then you cant sing?

  • @princejhey17 lol haha best comment ever

  • Will this kind of screaming hurt the voice?

  • @gogocad

Pretty sure he just explained that it won't..

  • who is this guy and what band is he from hes awesome!

  • Wow! Unbelievable! How does he do that O_O!

  • This guy is awesome, great learning.

  • amazing, there so much more to it than many people expect but then again who wouldn't know that if your getting into the whole screaming. but i think its the pure fact when you actually start you start to realize that everything youve heard was a little messed up. so if anyone should get into screaming they should listen to this first so they know that they wont be coming out with the same results they thought they heard or they expected from themselves.

  • very good..

  • this is insane... cos 99% of vocal trainers say any form of screaming is wrong

  • fucking shit, i want to learn that!

  • This guy is really good! I'm doing growl/scream vocals for couple of years now and i must admitt that his explanation is spot on.

  • Well Melissa Cross(queen of scream) suggests that using both sets of cords at the same time is far worse on the voice than a properly done fry scream.....though once you start singing after learning to fry and you work on these brett manning techniques your fry will shoot straight up and be way too high and strained so be careful with the vocal fry this I have no clue because I can barely do it.......but in trying to do this it is much less comfortable for me....

  • amazing.

exactly like that dude from disturbed: switching from clean to distortion and back.

    very impressive

  • @megafishfart Disturbed was what got me into metal, so that's a huge compliment. Thank you so much.

  • @InvictaMusic

    lihhkkkKe bAhhHHt mAAAn! awesome!

  • @InvictaMusic

lihhkkkKe bAhhHHt mAAAn! awesome! fuck amazing

  • poor guys

  • The screaming does not fit the style of music in this vid, it sounds like if an Incubus song had random screaming.

  • @ElegyForTheMasses That would be because usually our progressive metal isn't played on an acoustic guitar which was necessary for the video, haha. Check our MySpace for some less-random non-acoustic stuff.

  • This is cool :) LIke the explanation

  • yea dude, cause your far cooler than the deftones.

  • Bro when I do it it comes out kinda like a whease with a tad bit trebble. I have practiced all types of screaming and I find growling to be the best. But I can't hit highs like u man. Is it like the fry scream?

  • i really tickles when you pair it up with normal voice

  • this is exactly what I needed.

was able to scream before but often it sounded a beat odd and after a few minutes my voice for guttural or "normal" singing was gone.

just starting with this "speaking" with your lower chords makes it so much easier for me.

    thanks mate!
