On Propylene Glycol, I got mine to 3.7GHZ. On air, I'd follow his instructions to about 3.5GHz. Keep checking its stability as you go.

@deathcoptras 1156 is a separate socket from 1155. There is 755, 1366, 1155, 1156, 2011, etc. etc.. There are tons of sockets out there, but only a few are mainstream. 1155 is the most popular right now, and makes the most sense currently.

you would need to find out who makes the motherboard and go to the web site to download the newest bios and flash the current one but its very risky and should be researched before you try,cause if something messes up you'll need a new bios chip.

@kriwient It depends on your temperatures, and you motherboard/ CPU. Most laptops do not have the ability to overclock though. If you temps are fine and you can overclock, a slight overclock shouldn't hurt. Be sure to test the stability though.

Overclocking just raises the amount of Ghz, or Mhz, of the Cores in youre CPU, but for that it needs more electricity, as far is a understood overclocking, its done by raising the voltage of the CPU

Is my CPU fucked?? all of a sudden my PC started acting really slow, so I reinstalled Windows 7, same shit, formatted HD, same shit, tried another HD, same shit, swapped out video card, memory, power supply, motherboard, and the only thing left is the CPU.... lol

in Real Temp, it's saying my cpu speed is 1.1 Ghz, but that is BS, it's a Core i5 750, so it should read 2.66.

is my CPU fucked, or do I just need to change a setting in BIOS or something?

Got a question, I have this board with an i7 2.8ghz, after using oc genie cpu went to 3.8ghz but while running cinebench at 100% load... blue screens... I am using corsair hx650w for power and corsair h50 for cooling. any help?
