  • you have a good voice sarah ,, nothing person that can be like u .. because you have a voice like a graet angel ..

  • @asx5252 She was famous before she met Lloyd Webber, she was in a group called "Hot Gossip." And Lloyd Webber's other two wifes aren't famous so your comment is just spiteful. Just because you don't find her voice stunning doesn't mean that other people don't. How she became famous shouldn't matter, the only thing that should matter is the music.

  • Pretty good italian for an english voice. When it comes to italian so many tend to pronunce too much letters(example : "amore" becomes "ammorre" or "luce"-" lucce") or not enought ("stelle" - "stele" and "fredda" -"freda"),but she doesn't seem to have any problems with such a thing.Great voice btw

  • I think the best female version ever who sung this aria, is Deanna Durbin's. She has the sweetest, angelic voice, no raspiness, God sent from Heaven. Even her Ave Maria is the best ever!

  • maybe if we all slept with andrew lloyd webber we would be as famous as miss sarah.

  • great song great singing but she is singing in bloody america i bought this CD and threw it out HALEY WESTERNRA is just as good but you americans bad mouthed her

  • This is AMAZING. Skip to 1:28 to hear the singing.

  • I hear very little complaint when the countertenor roles in the baroque operas are transposed down for tenors in actual productions. I didn't hear this kind of whingeing when countertenor Greg Pritchard sang the song in the same key. And yet when Sarah Brightman feels like singing one of the greatest arias ever written in one of her concerts, she's chastised?

How male is the music world? I forgot for a couple of seconds.

    <3 Brightman.

  • @Canadiandramageek You make my brain hurt.

  • asi deben cantar los angeles...

  • If she's an opera singer if she's not, who cares, she's f"%@ fantastic!

You don't like it? don't wach

  • you touch my heart my i dol mis sarah brightman .. i love you ..

  • serrateresa.Yes I have listened to all the opers tenors you have mentioned and they all have very fine tenor voices.Ben Heppner is so like Placido Domingo it's hard to distinguish between them. Russell Watson, however, does not pretend to be an opera singer but his ability to sing some of the most beautiful arias with such a quality voice is amazing. One cannot help but admire the way he can foot it with these operatic giants.

  • This Aria is not suitable for a female voice as much as I admire Sarah Brightman. Russell Watson is the only singer I've heard who really does justice to this Aria. Pavarotti's 1980 version was pretty good too.

  • @jeangm1 Pavarotti was one of the best opera tenors ever. Russel Watson is a pop singer who sings arias, they are on completely different level. But... I respect that you like Russel Watson especially if you prefer pop sound. But did you have a chance to listen to Domingo, also past greats like Corelli, Bjorling, del Monaco. Today, try Frank Porretta or Ben Heppner.

  • @jeangm1 So says you. Great thing about music is that it crosses all boundaries including chauvinism. I think it sounds great. BTW no song is specifically for any genders voice. You only say this because it was written for a male character. I

  • Eric Adams kicks her ass. His version is more powerful and seems to be sung with more passion.

  • Damn how fucking irritating is it to have people writing negative comments about this performance. This is one of the best, if not the best, female versions of this song ever. And yes, Sarah Brightman is an opera singer!!

  • @Dutchmusicfan1992 Please tell me exactly in which operas did Sarah Brightman perform? Which roles? Which opera theaters? Hint: Phantom is a musical. The name of the profession is "opera singer" not "opera aria with a microphone singer". As to "best female" - this isn't a female aria. Opera singers, real female opera singers simply don't sing it.

  • @Dutchmusicfan1992 This is not a song. This is an aria from opera Turandot. It is an aria sung by a male character Prince Calaf who is trying to win the love of princess Turandot. You clearly don't know absolutely anything about opera, have you ever listened to a single opera in its entirety? As you don't know anything about opera why do you think you are qualified to say who is or isn't an opera singer? Google "operatic pop" which is what this is.

  • @serrateresa An opera aria is not sung the same way in a concert like this as it would be sung in an opera production. If it was, no female would sing it. There are three females I know of who dared tackle this HUGE aria; Deanna Durbin(her 1943 movie performance is here), Dame Sarah, and Jackie Evancho. Of those three I prefer Ms. Evancho's version(two of which are here). As much as I love Dame Sarah, her voice is not what it once was. She scooped her notes too much here. A shame.

  • @dieseldog00 Mina,a very very famous Italian singer, you probably know of her?,sings this with a more pop flavor on her cd Sulla Tua Bocca Lo Diro.

  • @Dutchmusicfan1992 Jackie Evancho performs it better. Sarah's voice was on the downhill this tour. Sarah is not an opera singer and even with SOME opera training she got in her youth, she has never billed herself as such. She is billed as "the biggest selling soprano of all time" and that may be true but it doesn't make her an opera singer.

I do love the setting she is not afraid of heights for sure!. But she flies planes too so...

  • Sarah Brightman es la mejor aria que existe :D

  • Deanna Durbin sings this song most gloriously.

  • And, for what it's worth: I've sat through dozens of operas, many with "opera singers" with all their "training and experience" who sound awful. So what's your point? Sarah Brightman happens to sing a song FROM opera now and then, but apparently she shouldn't be allowed to. The opera police are back to save us all from our ignorance. Well thank you for taking the time to edumacate the rest of us hill-billies. And stop using the word 'opera' like it's a baseball bat for bullying everyone.

  • @spydieho I didn't say what she is or isn't allowed to sing. But if you go on stage and perform a classical piano piece e.g. Moonlight Sonata in concert, I'd imagine you'd be criticized relative to the performances of classical concert pianists. If you transpose a Moonlight Sonata, you'd probably be criticized to. If your fans started calling you "classical concert pianist" but not play at their level, I'd imagine classical piano fans would not be happy. So what is different here?

  • @spydieho Also, again, if Sarah's fans stop insisting on her being "opera singer" then many of these arguments would go away. She is a classical crossover/musical theater/pop singer. She is excellent in classical crossover and gives joy to a lot of people. Why do her fans insist on calling her "opera singer"? What is the purpose?

  • @jewelmarkess Sarah is my favourite artist, but i agree with you, she is not an opera singer. And i am very glad of that. one thing i have noticed with female 'opera singers' (not all but most) is while technically correct and powerful, they do not convey emotion well. what sarah can do with her voice, is sing a song like this one, sing it good technically, but her greatest strength is she brings the emotion through! her voice just sails right through you :-)

  • @troykm Actually, one of my problems with Sarah's singing of opera aria is her lack of expression, so I don't understand why you think she has more emotion than opera singers. Now, when she sings Broadway, and when she sings songs like Con te partiro, she is very good, but not when she sings in Italian. Tell me, which emotions does she express here? Just try to follow the lyrics while she sings, and see if she expresses these words.

  • And you're surprised her fans are defensive. It's the moral superiority with which you trash her that offends. AND, you don't hesitate to trash her fans. "You stilly fools, you idiots; don't you know what an 'opera singer' is?" "Well we do, and we won't hesitate to tell you." all the while treating her fans, yet again, like they're stupid to even like her. It's mean-spirited, it's small, it's petty. If you hate her so much, why are you watching her videos?

  • Again: the opera folks insist on weighing in with their snobby condescending unsolicited critiques. For years people have reveled in trashing Sarah Brightman. So, god forbid, she sing in aria from a concert stage: "heresy!" "How dare she?" And you all feel the need to attack her on a posting which was obviously made by a fan. Who asked you?

There's huge difference between offering your snobby condescending unsolicited comments on Sarah Brightman and attacking the people who enjoy her.

  • La quiero en el Festival de Viña 2012, Chile!

  • why do you think the phantom of the opera is such a sucess and it have even gotten a movie. Is the songs the music and of course the voice of opera singers. how ever you want to call it. This is what happened to Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman. There is a lot of talent out there with beautiful voices, but getting in front of a crow and making loud noises in opera voice does not entertain. Get a song that people are familliar with and put your beautiful voice into it. You'll see responses.

  • @sisixxx Phantom is a musical. It has some lovely melodies, but even though the theme song is stolen from Puccini's La Fanciulla del West and it takes place in an opera theater, it is still a musical. Phantom doesn't use the voices of opera singers, in fact opera singers would sound wrong in it, IMHO. It's written for musical theater voices, for amplification, not for unamplified voices. Yes musical theater is fun, I like it too, it's just a different genre, and Sarah is great in it.

  • sarah's version is the best to date

  • @PaintbrushBristles i like jackie evanchos version. but this is great too

  • @superya91 Idky, but I don't like Jackie's singing

  • why are the opera aficionados always the experts? what they really are is snotty. I'm a season opera ticket holder and of course nessun dorma is meant for a tenor. But in art there is room for interpretation. Brightman's strength is that she brings opera to a wider audience. And, ironically, she performs with an over-the-top theatricality that is an intrinsic aspect of grand opera. Mic or not, her performance is still thrilling. so everybody calm down. Her voice is beautiful. period. be kind.

  • @spydieho So eloquently said! Thank you! That's exactly the point that I'm trying to get across...essentially, she IS an opera singer! Even though she does not fit the strictest definition of one, espoused by opera purists such as jewelmarkess and others. BTW, many other ladies have performed this aria. Fiona Marian from Australia, a lady in China's Got Talent, and even Jackie Evancho has performed it. Music is art, and art EVOLVES even though this is a tenor aria!

  • @zucchini2007 spydieho has a point in that Sarah may get some people interested in opera, if it's true, great. But why do her fans insist on calling her an opera singer? Opera requires years of training, and then fewer than 1% succeed to even make a living in opera - fewer than 1% if those with beautiful voices and training. It is difficult, it is demanding, it is unforgiving. If you call Sarah an opera singer then don't get upset when people judge her by opera standards.

  • @zucchini2007 Many talent show contestants/ classical crossover singers sing this aria, but you'd be hard-pressed to find any female opera singer (using the only existing definition as per any dictionary) who performs in opera who sings this aria. Classical music is different from pop; performing as written as composer intended is part of classical music. It's almost part of the definition of classical music. You can still enjoy it, it's just a different genre. "operatic pop" but not opera.

  • @spydieho I think the main issue is that a lot of her fans insist on calling her an opera singer. It's not something Sarah does - she laughs when people call her an opera singer, but her fans do it. They insist on her being an opera singer yet when someone judges her by opera standards, they get upset. I think many of the arguments would go away if there were more knowledge of opera, of what it takes to be an opera singer and of the wealth of talent in opera.

  • A girl sang this at my school 2 days ago, it souded just like this. Beautiful song <3

  • I definitely agree dieseldog00,....Jackie Evancho has to be on top of ND..of all those who sing it, (not knocking anyone, there is one more person even tho it is a try out, on Australia's got talent,....Her ....Name Is: Fiona Mariah Like Jackie! she, too brought Tears to my eyes. She is 50 yo I was't an Opera fan. Little Jackie converted me ,as she has with millions, anyone who sings this kind of music thanks, If you love opera Try "operi famili"holland's got talent WOW"

    is

  • No she isn't an opera singer and this is a tenor aria, but Sarah brought the operatic sound and style to people who would not otherwise listen to opera. Sarah was the first of a new genre of singing; Classical Crossover which is a blend of opera and popular music.

But if you want to hear the best ND sung by a female today, watch the video of 10 year old Jackie Evancho on Britain's Got Talent.

  • She is gorgeous and has a beautiful voice, not my favorite interpretation of Nessun Dorma, though....

  • Does Sarah sing any other male opera areas? I love them so much, but I am a female too, I did not know that anyone still sing them, which is great.

  • Comment removed

  • All Haters: If you don't like this, why are you listening to it?!! Personally, I love it - we're all entitled to our own opinions, & the audience obviously enjoyed it too!

  • Estee Videoo Demuestraa Por Que Es La Soprano Con Mayores Ventaa En Todaa La Historiaa.. Ella Es Simplementee Perfectaa y Estaa Muy Dificiil Que Nasca Alguien Con Un Talento, Versatilidad y Presencia Como La Que Tiene Y Demuestra Sarah... I Really Love You Saraah ♥♥♥♥

  • I also like opera but I think different people have different preferences. We should respect the other's choice.Sarah, as her great success in musical industry has shown us, is a singer loved by many people. Some people may be jeolous of her great success, saying she doesn't deserve it;however, she just does what other singers do. She does make her successful story in a rightful way.A majority of people love her and buy her CDs.Those minorities attacking her are just mean and jeolous people

  • This song is so beautifully sung!

She is one of my favourite singers.

I admit that her voice is not so loud and strong as those prominent opera singers, but her voice is very beautiful and pleasant to hear.

Well, some people may say that she is not an opera singer as she uses a microphone. Haha~ but to me, even she is not a opear singer, then so what? Her voice is sweeter than many opera singers. I do not care if sche uses a microphone or not. What I appreciate is her pleasant voice.

  • i LOVE sarah brightman. I HATE this version of Nessun Dorma. Ouch. It's brutal..

  • SAUDADES DE DEANNA DURBIN, ELA SIM SABIA INTERPRETAR E POSSUIA LINDA VOZ E BELEZA

  • WORLD CUP 1990 ITALIA

  • i actually like this song in soprano.... good job sarah brightman...i have to perform this someday

  • bad pronunciation

  • wow! so many haters. im sure they are all smarter than the rest of us. sorry I love her voice, and she treats nornal people like gold. God Bless Sarah Brightman

  • @mocharockstar1 Not liking a performance doesn't make one "hater". I like Sarah Brightman when she sings music written specifically for "crossover" style like Con te partiro, or when she sings Andrew Lloyd Webber. If she performs on Broadway, I'd buy tickets in a flash. I also heard she is a good person. But this is an opera aria, so when one sings it, it's natural that those who know opera judge it by opera standards. It's not the matter of being smarter but different base for comparison.

  • @jewelmarkess nice, i do understand where you are at. I just never looked at it from that viewpoint. :)

  • Sarah Brightman doesn't (perhaps can't?) sing live anymore. These are all lip-synched. If you have a smart phone, download the program Shazam and run it during any of her live performances, it will recognize the song as the studio version every time. It's quite sad, actually.

  • Bravissima!!!

  • Eu falo que ela é uma cantora de música lírica.

  • SB has never claimed to be an opera singer, but I agree with vidsee that she has probably introduced more people to classical music than all the "opera" singers in the world combined. I have never felt inclined to go see Turandot or Madame Butterfly, but I love Nessun Dorma and It's a Beautiful Day, and others that SB has introduced me to. Just let her fans enjoy her, please.

  • Dreck. What was she thinking? This is so out of kilter, and off the mark. So sad. She needs to apologize to Puccini, who is augering out of his grave, and ready to seek retribution. Shrieking Divas please go home.

  • @birdybill I'm sorry, but you're either completely deaf or just plain stupid! She is a SOPRANO not a tenor. Singing this in a much-higher register than what Giacomo Puccini originally wrote it does NOT mean she is shrieking! She got a standing ovation from all those people!!

  • Liking or disliking her voice and style is a personal preference, but insults are pathetic and churlish, and, frankly, smack of jealousy.

  • I read a stupid comment (now removed perhaps) that professional singers regard Sarah as a joke. Presumably, singers like Andrea Bocelli and Alessandro Safina want to sully their own reputations by singing with a joke?! Sarah fills auditoriums and provides musicians with work. She has probably turned more people on to classical music, who otherwise might not have bothered, than any other singer.

  • @vidsee She also performed with the legendary Placido Domingo in 1994. They performed 3 different arias together that year in Japan--Time To Say Goodbye, La Traviata, and Brindisi. He is one of the greatest tenors of all time, so he certainly did NOT taint his own reputation by performing with SB!

  • @zucchini2007 Exactly, so it is stupid for people to say professional singers regard her as a joke. How many female singers have even attempted to sing this piece? The thing about being a professional singer is trying things. Sometimes it comes off sometimes it doesn't, some people like it and some don't, but to sling insults around is cheap. Sadly, the world has become cheap.

  • She is a musical theater singer.

Excellent technique and superb high notes.

Her high notes are powerful but middle range nice but weak

She uses all the tricks..every thing sound like an o or a u. to sound pretty

so she is not an opera singer but still a wonderful musician.

she also sounds like angels give her credit.Nesum Dorma has been popularized by many pop singers

  • Even if you're not a fan of opera, Phantom or even Sarah herself, you have to admit she's got balls to even try this with it's massive reputation. Credit to her.

  • Anyone who can successfully bring classical music to a general audience is fine with me.

As for Sarah Brightman's singing, she is a Broadway performer. So, if I judge her by that standard, she does a beautiful job here.

  • What a bunch of persnickety snobs. Sounds like jealousy to me.

  • ...instead of ONLY care for the singing tecnics and this stuff...

  • The people who keep saying this version isn't good because you "know music" and are professionals, and are trained and have already listen tenors singing and etc... If one of you realy know the meaning of music you would pay more attention in the wonderful and touching lyrics of this beautiful song and be grateful just for listen it even if it was speaked. Sometimes non singer people can sing better than you.. because they're more concerned with putting their soul in what their performing...

  • Asvollmer- I agree with you. A little harsh though. Not an Aria singer. I would still pay top dollar for a ticket (if I could).

  • Exquisite!

  • precioso final..!! :D toda una princesa sarah brightman ..!!

  • I just don't know how you can listen to this and don't like it..I mean..not many people can do this..if maybe only miss Brightman. And live it would only sound better than here on youtube and did you hear the people???

  • @DutchHPfan1992 1. This is a tenor aria not a soprano aria. To people who are very familiar with this aria and this opera a woman's singing it sounds a bit like a 50-year old man singing "I feel pretty" from the West-side story. Read the synopsis of Turandot and lyrics to this aria. 2. Everything is relative. If you've not hear much opera before and compare to pop, you may love it. But if you've heard it sung many times by best tenors, it'd be different. Do try to listen to opera.

  • @jewelmarkess INDEEEED!!! I know most people favor Pavarotti and he's incredible no doubt, but I also like Corelli for his presence and Bocelli for his great smile. He's a delight to watch. Of course I love Placido too for the incredible emotion and life he brings to the role. My goodness, if I had but one wish it would be to see Turandot just once... I would give anything. The sublime power and enrapturing story of this opera is second to none in my opinion.

  • @graceoverall There are quite a few full operas here. Some are in multiple sections and some are as one or two long videos. For example this is Turandot: /watch?v=pkDxD1dUMRA You could probably find others too, but this one looks good. Turandot isn't my favorite opera - I like only some arias from it, but it's the matter of taste. I doubt there are titles in this particular one, but you probably know the plot, if not you can google for it as well as libretto.

  • @jewelmarkess BUT many other women are singing Nessun Dorma now---Fiona Mariah from Australia, Jackie Evancho, and Luciano Pavarotti asked Aretha Franklin to sing it for him when his doctors advised him not to sing during an awards ceremony. Now that I think about it, it IS quite odd to see a female singing this! It's like me singing O Mio Babbino Caro, LOL!

  • @jewelmarkess Especially when you heard Pavarotti singing this. As well as Andrea Bocelli, even though he doesn't only sing opera

  • @MaGicTriXz Very true, or Domingo, Corelli, Bjorling, del Monaco. Also for today - check out Frank Porretta, very good. Teodor Illincai - very interesting too.

  • @jewelmarkess Yea For me the best interpretations are Pavarotti, Del Monaco and Corelli

  • @MaGicTriXz Great choices, I agree.

  • @jewelmarkess Many people have been turned on to opera by Sarah who might otherwise not have been. This is one reason why many singers performed with her because she widened the audience for them. However, they would not have sung with her if they considered her to be unworthy.

  • @jewelmarkess To your trained ear, did she miss a note?

  • @vidsee Not that I noticed, but hitting notes while producing lovely sounds isn't enough. Even with instrumental music, a performer needs to not only hit note, but also do it effortlessly without pauses in the middle of musical phrases and most importantly - interpret the music. With songs there are lyrics that have to be interpreted, communicated. With opera arias - especially as they are part of a story. The singer needs to communicate. Diction, phrasing, expressiveness are very important.

  • listen to this song with fredrik kempe from sweden (vincero)

  • Sarah Brightman is my most favorite Opera singer, and I have to say, it was very impressive to hear Nessum Dorma from her. I believe it was very wonderful to hear. :)

  • @TheNachocolate Sarah Brightman may well be your favorite singer, but she isn't an opera singer. An opera singer is someone who sings roles in live operas, without microphones, acts. It's a profession. Singing an aria from an opera in concert, especially with a microphone but even without it doesn't make one an opera singer.

  • @jewelmarkess True and I'm a fan. Sarah has never stated she was/is an opera singer. She is a classically trained soprano.

  • @amusedbygod You are right. Sarah specifically said she was not. It's some of her fans (not you) who claim it. I actually do like Sarah's singing of many Broadway melodies and songs. It's the opera arias I have problem with, but of course, I realize that many people like it. I don't know actually if Sarah had much of classical training or if her teachers were good - her voice is actually very nice and was much better when she was young, but she lacks technique to sing opera arias.

  • @jewelmarkess You shouldn't feel so compelled 2 correct them, though I understand your need 2. U obviously feel strong about the technique trained opera singers painstakingly acquired. I understand that, but why can't U and the purists allow her 2 reinterpret the music. Whitney Houston reinterpreted Dolly Parton's 'I Will Always Love You' and was awarded several times over. Why can't the same hold true 4 Sarah & Puccini? After all, it's due 2 Sarah that I bothered 2 listen 2 Puccini.

  • @amusedbygod We don't have to like her interpretation which is why we comment on it. Incidentally, if you ever read any of the criticism of opera singers here, you'd notice that they are criticized by far smaller flaws and just as harshly (if not harsher). Opera fans don't single out Sarah, they apply to her the same standards as they would apply to anybody singing the same music. Opera (and classical music) is exceptionally demanding and unforgiving.

  • @jewelmarkess well she has a beautiful voice regardless what defines an opera singer.

  • @teasingyou4me True, and if she had had training, she might have become an opera singer. As is, she is very fine in musical theater or light popular songs. Think of a voice as an instrument. Having a good violin and natural talent isn't enough to be a concert violinist, you need to be able to play it very well, to have perfect technique and to express what the music is about. It's also a tenor aria, and listening to a woman sing it is like listening to a 50-year old man singing "I feel pretty".

  • @jewelmarkess What about Phantom of the Opera? She also performed several arias with Placido Domingo in 1994, such as La Traviata and Brindisi. Regardless of whether or not she's an opera singer, I still enjoy all of her performances! And she is still an outstanding singer and performer!

  • @zucchini2007 Phantom of the Opera is a musical about opera house, not an opera (even though the main theme is stolen from Puccini's La Fanciulla del West). Phantom is performed in musical theater by musical theater singers and with heavy amplification. Opera singers like Domingo often perform in crossover concerts sometimes with crossover singers such as Brightman or Jenkins. Sarah Brightman is outstanding in musicals/light music and has a lovely voice but lacks technique to sing opera.

  • @zucchini2007 Imagine standing on stage of an opera theater, 2000-4000 seats. There are no microphones. There is a full orchestra between the stage and the audience. The singers not only need to be heard even when singing softly, they need to be near perfect musically and vocally in 2-5 hour performance, with excellent diction, interpreting music and words with artistry (!). E.g. - this singer has already sung in 2 acts, this is the start of last act of a 3rd hour: /watch?v=Q3kzqzXHp2A

  • @jewelmarkess That would be very intimidating! Singing with NO mikes!! In front of thousands of people, as you said! I want to learn how to sing with artistry, like Placido Domingo. And with NO mikes, so that you opera purists won't complain and belly ache about it all day long.

  • @zucchini2007 Right - and for the whole performance, while acting, with perfect tone throughout, excellent diction, quiet breathing, and near perfection. Notice how in the link in my comment above the singer (who's already been on stage for most of 2 hours - albeit with one intermission) is singing almost non-stop in a 20 minutes difficult scene,at one time while lying down, then ends with a perfect Eb6. As to "purists" - if you hear unamplified voices at least once, you'll understand.

  • @jewelmarkess and @DutcHPfan1992 Sarah Brightman fans are really tired of comments from you so-called stuffy opera experts. If you can do better, get out there and do it. Otherwise, drop it. Did you notice that Sarah Brightman got a standing ovation at this concert for her version of Nessun Dorma. I don't care if this piece is for a male tenor. She broke new ground. I would give anything to hear her sing this in concert. It would be a privilege to be in the audience of such talent.

  • @fairchasehunter Are you saying that one should proclaim every movie Oscar-worthy because we cannot make movies ourselves? I am a software engineer not a singer, and I bet if you don't like the software I write you'll criticize me even if you can't do my job. I did say I like Sarah's voice especially when she sings Broadway or crossover music, just not opera. You like her - fine. And popularity isn't the same as greatness. Bizet's Carmen was booed the first night, it's still a masterpiece.

  • @jewelmarkess please, sarah brightman have one of the most beautiful voices int he world.

  • @sisixxx How many opera singers have you listened to? Diana Damrau? Ana Maria Martinez? Singers who perform in top opera theaters? How about less known singers like Malena Ernman (I'd not heard of her until someone sent me the link) Young unknown singers who are still struggling like here: /watch?v=RWmxggZ82Hk? I don' t even know the full name of this young lady... Sarah has a beautiful tone to her voice, true, but you don't know how many beautiful voices there are out there.

  • @jewelmarkess I have listen to lots of opera singer. I have a very good friend of my Rafael Cavero opera singer. There are lots of talent out there I know that needs to be discover is a hard career and very competitive. But what I notice is that for example Andrea Bocelli, Sarah they get criticized for their singing. Is not traditional opera but is so beautiful and they made lovelly melody. I wish all opera singer find a way to make it as entertaining as they do. That what makes them special.

  • @sisixxx Yes, it is a lovely melody because Puccini wrote great music, and I don't deny that Sarah has a lovely voice. I enjoy her singing of "crossover" songs like Con te partiro or musicals. I don't enjoy her singing arias because of how she breathes, of her lack of phrasing, bad diction (I speak Italian), bad phrasing, lack of expression, of nuances. Sure, she makes lovely sounds, but music is more to me than beautiful noise. But it's me, I respect that you like her.

  • the bitch can't fucking sing opera. give it up girl, opera is not for you.

  • @hommie4112 haha, that's true:)

  • @hommie4112 Keep those comment to yourself thanks . If u ain't gonna appreciate , u should jolly well F off ? :)

  • absolut traumhaft !!!

  • 4:10 giacomo puccini si sta rivoltando nella tomba...

  • No, wrong. This is just a matured voice; beautifully done. Sarah has started and come to be moreso with Andrea Bocelli with 'time to say goodbye'. I disagree with these comments of negativity. The voice is strong and comes deep.

  • I agree Sarah seems to strain a bit at those high notes. A beautiful rendition of Nessun Dorma by a female can be heard done by the legendary Deanna Durbin.

  • Very good voice but Turandot is for tenors, the same way as The Queen of the Night (Mozart) is for sopranos. If you change, the quality decreases!!

  • @Zhersh1 On behalf of my fellow coloratura sopranos, I second, third, and FOURTH that.

  • This is from Turandot and is for a tenor, so a soprano seems a little out of place. That said. i do like her rendition.

  • both of you are retards

  • traumhaft !!!!

  • She is amazing. Of course one would expect Americans to put her down in favor of one of their own... so lets ignore their egos and their negative comments the rest of us and celebrate all that is wonderful about Sarah Brightman!

  • Did not like her in this song. Paul Potts is much better!!

  • @scrubs808 You cannot compare Sarah with paul

  • круто))

  • She looks like an angel..................

  • Overproduced. The voice is the star of this piece not the stage techs.

  • WOW. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE. i AM BLOWN AWAY.

  • Esta mujer es de otro planeta, esto es simplemente unico.

  • I think Pavorotti and Jackie Evancho blow her version out of the water. To me, it sounded like she was just screaming.I did not like it.

  • i don't know how to say this but, i really preffer the pavarotti version and the Potts version, is that normal???

  • @antraxxx89 Absolutely. This is a tenor aria and sounds better when sung by a tenor (aside from problems with Sarah's breathing and technique). I do recommend that you also listen to interpretations by Corelli, Bjorling, del Monaco. Also more recently, Domingo. Today - Ben Kaufmann or Marcello Giordano. I think you'll like them. Also, young tenors - Michael Fabiano, David Lomeli. I think you'll enjoy them.

  • PAVAROTTI I LIKE IT!!!

  • I do not know what some of you are talking about, her performance is flawless and mesmerizing and she looks and sings beautiful!

  • This performance hit me like a rock-hard fist in the gut. Amazing Sarah! Da Capo!!!

  • She should not be singing opera. Least of all anything that requires technique. Like opera. Garsh.

  • I guess I'm in the minority here and actually love this rendition. Granted, I was never a fan of her to begin with and her other renditions of "Nessun Dorma" bored me to death. With this one, I feel the message. I don't know, rather hard to explain but this one moves me.

...also to the posters below, seriously. Fucking relax it's not a big deal

  • Whaooow....Trully mesmerizing.....Happy Birthday Ms Sarah!!! FARRRRRRRR OUTTTTTTTT!!!!

  • FUCK U TO ALL THE HATERS AND WELCOME TO ALL THE LOVE, THIS WOMAN DONATED 70% OF HER MONEY TO ALL THE PEPLE THAT WERE SICK AND ORPHANS WITHOUT A MOM OR DAD AND EVEN LOTS OF ANIMALS AND WHALES AND GOD, SHE HAS A HUGE HUGE AMOUNT OF LOVE FOR PEOPLE, WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU HEARD THAT ANYONE GAVE AT THE OFFICE, BET IT WASNT YOU, PUNK ASS BEEE-A-CH ! HA. LATE.

  • SOME OF YOU ARE WAY TOO HARSH AND JUDGMENTAL. NONE OF YOU KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS AMAZING SINGER. EVERY BODY ON THIS EARTH HAS THEIR OWN STORY! DETAILS YOU ALL KNOW NOTHING ABOUT. WHAT DOES HER PERSONAL LIFE HAVE TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT SHE CAN AND HAS THIS INCREDIBLE VOICE AND YOU DO NOT!!! WHO KNOWS WHAT SHE HAS DEALT WITH ALL OF HER LIFE WITH SOMEONE SHE COULD NOT "SAVE". DON'T LISTEN IF YOU DO NOT ENJOY OR APPRECIATE!!

  • just realized that the best part of this is the kickass orchestra-not the screechy soprano (not that brightman isnt good-this just isnt her song)

  • Comment removed

  • amazing

  • It's unfortunate that this tour was lip-synched... I used to be a big fan of Sarah's, because she introduced me to classically-minded music without having to deal with intense arias. This song is meant to be sung by a man, though. It's written to fit the male vocal profile, which is why it comes off a tad "screechy." Thank God she's ditched that horrible "O" shape (what she calls "bel canto") - she no longer distorts every single vowel beyond comprehension.

  • @NickGodzakSinger Well, she 'ditched' the 'O' shape because she has been lip syncing. You can still hear in her pre-recordings that she managed to make each vowel sound like an 'o.' Just watch Wishing You Were Somehow Here again from this tour...her pre-recording sounds like "Why can't the paooooost just doooooooooooooooooie." It's ridiculous. She hasn't really sung much of anything live in pretty much a decade now.

  • THIS IS A MAN SONG WTFFF ???

  • She Looks Beatituful, Thas How Angels Looks and sing In Heaven

  • Durma com um barulho desse...

  • Sarah Brightman is a Great singer, one of the greatest voices ever, but Nessun Dorma is a song made for a man's voice

  • Nessum Dorma....

  • Happy Birthday, Sarah! Thanks for giving all of us the gift!

  • What a wonderful performance and what a wonderful woman!! One of the best world's singers. Congratulations, Sarah. Have an happy birthday. Love you.

  • Happy Birthday (:

  • the true sound of an angel!!!!!!

  • @holywells You are so right. Based on your text here I looked her up and saw the fragment. Unbelievable!

  • @holywells then go and watch Miss evanchos videos !. and leave Sarah alone ....

  • @amoom0

    You're right =\

This aria's totally wrong for a Soprano anyway, and Brightman focuses more on hitting the notes than feeling the piece.

She should stick to Pie Jesu, haha

  • @yuptydoo

I agree, some people just shouldn't sing certain songs, I don't care how good of a singer you are.

  • @amoom0 At first when I read your comment I went, "what?" But, after listening to Pavarotti, and even little Jackie Evancho sing this, I have to agree. I love Sarah, but what you're saying makes sense. It's not her best moment, for sure. I prefer Jackie's version. That kid is destined for greatness, assuming she keeps practicing, and her voice isn't ruined.

  • @amoom0 you're full of it.

  • @amoom0 I agree too. She needs to stop singing a song designed for a male tenor. Aretha did it well for a pop show--trying to do it as a true opera song DOES NOT WORK for a female voice.
