I think this loot system sucks tbh - some of my toons I've levelled & got X amount into the endgame content as DPS, but my guild have recently turned round & expressed a need for me to spec them out as tanks or healers, so I'm re-equipping my druid for tree & tanking from being pretty decent as a kitty feral, my frostie DK is going all blood & my paladin is currently bigging up the tank gear. None are yet at the point where they can tank or heal endgame heroics.

Honestly I don't see this working all to well if you pug something cause I can see alot of people that are in the same guild as someone else rolling for their guild members off spec instead of letting that other person who needs it for main spec in guild runs it really wouldn't matter cause well its their own guild

as for putting into the dungeon i see the same problem happening people from the same guild are gonna run something together just to get something for an off spec.

I think it's a great loot system mainly because I have all detailed loot info turned off, so whenever I see a DPS item Im like "Should I need? But what if a DPS needs it?". With the new system I can pretty much spam need need need without worrying about ninja'ing which is pretty cool.

yeah, the issue will be on these hybrid pieces. Spirit cloth/leather/mail will be sought after by spriests/boomkins/ele shamans, and if they're at a roll disadvantage to the healers, that'll suck. Same thing with the sometimes weirdly itemized strength items, like mastery/expertise, which could be tank or DPS.

@WowIrraviaBlunders well if none of the tanks need the item, then it'll go down to dps/healer offspec rolls just like it normally does, except it's not a raidlead going "ms rolls go".......... "os rolls go", just everyone rolls at the same time, except tanks get +100 so they'll get it.

The only issue I have with it, like @ramaer82 is the spirit for hybrid casters. For boomkins/ele shams, spi brings hit rating so how can dps caster hybrids roll on "healer" items now since they're both really...

The looting system is going to make pugging a lot better. It should be pushed to the rest of the instances. It still needs a few little iLvl/dupe check tweaks here and there to keep overgeared DPS/healers from being little ninjas in the 'raid finder' raids but it's a good start.

It's pretty much word for word (well probably less..without the rambling) my long ass suggestion I posted up on the forums for them a while back. It made me happy to see another familiar idea see the light of day.

A shadow priest should should have a better chance then a mage for a +sprt item but not better then the holy priest if they still need it. If they don't need it then they ninija-ing and look shouldn't want them around anyway

If you are not tanking why would you want to roll on tank gear, other than to be a complete schmuck and ninja tank gear from a legitimate tank. As a tank I can atest to the high level of annoyance when a plate dps rolls need on a tanking upgrade for me. I say if you want tank gear then man up and que a tank. If you are dps wanting to start tanking thats what the AH is for.

AH and heroics, yeah, i agree. I've been slowly working on grabbing good tank gear so i can do well, and i've been practicing the pulls on normals. Also helps to get me Justice Points, which i can use for gear or save for the patch, when the T12 shit gets downgraded. I think it works pretty well, just takes patience.
