  • Baer had a great right hand punch. Its too bad he didnt train more seriously. He may have been able to do a lot better in his career. His brother Buddy was talented too!

  • Hit 2 then 6 to get smelly butt!!!!

  • I liked the movie "Cinderella Man", but contrary to their script, Max Baer was NOT the jerk they made him to be.

  • have you seen the baer v galento fight....what a farce that was...max was no bum, but they fought like two bums in that fight.

  • i saw cinderella man 2day it was soo good

  • I am the daughter of Pat Comiskey, from Paterson NJ. My dad fought Max Baer in a pretty major bout many years ago. I met Max Baer, Jr. in 1977 at an opthamologist's office in Sacramento, CA

when I worked. My father also fought Joe Louis in an exhibition fight and Joe and my dad remained very good friends way past retirement. My parents used to get together with Joe and his wife in Las Vegas occasionally in the 60's. My father passed away in 1989... he was a very classy man, and I miss him

  • Thanks for the comment. I saw the 3 minute video clip on YouTube of your 20 year old dad boxing Baer. He was indeed a handsome young man and very classy.

  • @octogenerian whts the title?

  • Bugaleena: Did research on your father. Wow, he was very very underated. He was a very good boxer. I liked him in that movie THE HARDER THEY FALL. Im surprised he never made more movies, as he was quite good in the film.

  • @Bugaleena4 Awesome! You are very fortunate to meet such a distinguished individual - and to have a distinguished father as well!

  • @Bugaleena4 Your father was a legend of this period of boxing. Bless you and your family...

  • @Bugaleena4 you single?

  • you're obviously a Max Baer fan sir, as i am. love to watch old footage of his fights. equally impressed with his style outside the ring and his fun loving nature. unreal that he passed away so young. and by the way, next time you post, wear your Red Sox cap. lol

  • tks for the kind and true words about Baer.

Max Baer was my idol, as I grew up hearing about him from my dad. My dad saw many of his fights in N.Y. Also, i have some of his fights on 16mm film.

  • Its great to hear the perspective of a wise man like yourself on a great boxer Max Baer.

    1) Baer/Schmelling was a great fight and in my view Max's best fight of his career. He was well-conditioned and in an even fight he out-powered Schmelling with his right hand. 2) Baer/Carnera was an exciting fight even though Baer dominated with knock downs. Credit to Carnera who obviously had a damaged ankle got up all 11 times.

    3) Baer/Braddock was boring because Max didn't train for this one?

  • Thanks for the kind words. The movie is on NetFlix and there is a DVD. Also see comment from "ssaltspring" above (or below).

  • did max baer really go to galt high in galt california

  • awsome information about Max Baer i was looking for it as it will help me for the movie questionsbased on "CINDERELLA MAN" We still have to watch the final battles b/w max and James ;) I saw the end of real fight b/w them but cant wait to see movie one. Once again thank you.

  • Hi..I just thought you might to look at Cinderella man..Not just a story about boxing but of poverty and overcoming. A feel good movie with excellent actors. I can't remember if it won any awards but well worth the watch..Copy and paste the characters below into the search here on u tube. A lot of people complained that Maxxie was made out to be more of a bad guy than he really was..That's Hollywood. Thanks again.

  • Thanks for the info. NetFlix has the movie (and two others) based on Braddocks life. I put it on my list of movies.

  • Nothing like hearing it from someone who speaks from the voice of actually living it. Great new post. I heard Maxxie did many "good works" outside of the ring as well. Thank u very much for the insight. Keep 'em coming.

  • I recall reading that his son, Max Baer Jr., said Max never got over killing that guy in the ring.

  • I remember reading about Max Baer. What do you think of todays fighters? Do you ever watch any of the mixed martial arts fights that are popular today? Take care and I find your You Tube channel very interesting.

    Take care.

  • Thanks for the kind comments. With Pay per View and multiple boxing associations it is hard to keep up with boxing these days. Mixed martial arts may be the answer.

  • @octogenerian

if you can follow it, boxing is still my preferred choice. I watch a bit of MMA but boxers like Pacquiao and Mayweather are supremely skilled.

  • Great video octogenerian. Max baer was a great fighter, if you have seen the cinderellaman film you will see baer being portrayed as this horrible man, a killer but im sure he was really far from that. Thanks

  • Thanks for the kind comment. I have read a lot about the film you mention. I look forward to seeing it.
