Nice video, these are retailing in the UK for a very reasonable price and your review has sold me. That's the biggest lump of pine pitch I've ever seen - did you find it like that or have you amalgamated many smaller pieces? Also - it's nice to see Bundeswehr Flecktarn has reach the US :)
I hate living in Virginia every piece the forest is either privatley owned or a National forest, and it's hard to find a quiet area in the woods because of all the rednecks mudding and shooting there guns into all directions. IT SUCKS!
@shmitas1 It has never been my intention to review all of cold steels tomahawks, I just kinda got hooked on them and bought what was available to me locally. I really dont NEED another tomahawk( I bought out all but one spike hawk from my source)
HOWEVER I think a pipehawk review has been requested more than any other model and it is the last of the smaller hawks in the lineup so, maybe I can fit it in, just wish Lynn Thompson would send me some for free LOL!!
I agree with your video. This hawk is not necessarily made for outdoorsman things. (Although it can be used for that) The norse hawk was designed for war. Killing people. The cold steel version is no exception.
Sweet video! I just got the norse hawk for Christmas and I like it a lot but the only other hawk I have used is my friend's rifleman hawk. Your handle looks wicked too man!
This is a DEAD standing tree. The only time you will see me throwing at a live tree is when I am in an area marked for timber sale, I will occasionally throw at a tree that is slated to be harvested for timber. For the most part I only throw when I am doing reviews anyway.
@ZEUKI1 Ahh ok. lol I actually comented before I watched the entire thing and you actually mentioned the dead tree part so my bad. :) I like your reviews though. They give the tomahawks from the views of a person who actually uses them and I agree, that screw they put it is really annoying.
I like to drink beer and throw axes . I have 2 nores hawks they work great .I can stick them at 5, 10, paces every time ,at about 7 paces you throw the hawk backwards and can stick it up side down. When it comes to shtf , I think it will split a wig pretty good .
If you find that the head sits too high, you can wrap the handle with one layer of thin cloth (strip of old bed sheet or pillow cover) before you slip the head on. When the head is tight and won't move further up the handle, you can trim the excess.
This will not only let the head sit lower, but it will also increase friction and make for a better fit.
Klean strip brand paint stripper works good, I lik the stuff in the spray can but you can also buy it in larger resealable cans. I have also used a brand called "Aircraft" paint stripper that also comes in a spray can either will do fine.
That is a hard question to answer. What do you want to use it for ? how often will you use it/ how often will you maintanin it. how much do you want to spend. Do you want something to customize/tailer to your own style or a custom creation handmade by a smith. What about size and weight. These are what I would consider important questions that will help decide which one to purchase, OR you can do what I did and just buy a bunch of them and then argue with yourself which is best.
which tomahawk would you prefer the cold steel norse hawk or the frontier?

Have you ever made your own targets? I'd think it'd be bad for the tree to keep throwing at it...

SHTF situation, the trail hawk for its versatility.
Everyday just plain favorite would be the frontier hawk, I just like its simple form, good chopping/cutting and it throws real nice.

Nice review, I purchased the trail hawk after watching your vid on it, you sold me!
