It is great and that Error is so hard to notice. He finds it difficult to play standing up. He normally has to hold it like a Flying V with a high strap at the solo. There is a much better version though. The Hyde street version. Look for the 8 minute one.

Maybe when Joe wrote this song he was faster and more focused on speed (it were the 80's, everyone -like Yngwie, Vai, etc - wanted to play as fast as they could). Today he's almost 52, for me it's normal he has lost some of his speed at his fingers with the age, and somehow, in this video he plays this song great. No matter if he can't play as fast as 21 years ago when he recorded this song, nobody can play it as him. It's just my poor opinion anyway. Hail Satch!!!!!!!!

i see what you're saying, the last two songs in the album have some classic satch riffs and jammin. Engines of Creation was very experimental also and it doesn't feel anything like Satch. It's almost like he has two styles. He has...dare i say, a tom morrello flare in his creative style. Not that he sounds like Morrello, but becuase he does stuff never done before.

They are so hard, even Joe himself has to put his foot on the speakers while playing it, so he can get leverage to play the extremely difficult passages (info for the non-guitarists) I dont think i have EVER seen Jos put his foot on the speaker except for this song. Ive seen him a million times live, Incredible! Ive also never seem him mess up much except for the solos on this specific song, hes virtually flawless in his performances.

It's because Satch is nearly perfect all the time, so when he makes a mistake people pounce on him and rape him about it.
I've always loved this song, and I've never been able to nail down the solo properly... sure, if you study hard enough you can play it (as I've seen a fellow guitarist do), but he was standing still and over-concentrated on his finger positions... and that's not about REAL playing and showmanship as SATCH DOES...
Im just sick of people who is saying that Joe messed up during the sweeping. He says himself that it is cursed and lot of people who plays the song agrees with him about that. So shut up and give him credit for making a awesome solo. And you should know that every legendary musicians makes mistakes.
When he was sweeping right around 2:45 he actually went out of key - I don't believe it. Not just modal or spicy in harmony, but just flat ugly and wrong. This song must be cursed, because I have never heard Joe mess up like that before, ever.

Petrucci and Becker are both great guitar players, but Joe Stariani is something else. His solo's are always the perfect mix of technicality, musicality, and feeling. More shredders like Joe would make the whole genre much more enjoyable.

I've always loved this song, and I've never been able to nail down the solo properly... sure, if you study hard enough you can play it (as I've seen a fellow guitarist do), but he was standing still and over-concentrated on his finger positions... and that's not about REAL playing and showmanship as SATCH DOES...

Im just sick of people who is saying that Joe messed up during the sweeping. He says himself that it is cursed and lot of people who plays the song agrees with him about that. So shut up and give him credit for making a awesome solo. And you should know that every legendary musicians makes mistakes.

When he was sweeping right around 2:45 he actually went out of key - I don't believe it. Not just modal or spicy in harmony, but just flat ugly and wrong. This song must be cursed, because I have never heard Joe mess up like that before, ever.

I agree..lol, I have a version that I recorded last night in my videos and I have no problem playing that song by myself but as soon as I hit the camera button something happens..and it's only with THIS SONG! AAAHH!

Petrucci and Becker are both great guitar players, but Joe Stariani is something else. His solo's are always the perfect mix of technicality, musicality, and feeling. More shredders like Joe would make the whole genre much more enjoyable.

nothing against satch, but he has horrible right hand technique.. (puts up flame sheild..xp)...
That being said, its probably just his style of playing, obviously hes no shredder.
