  • uh-oh I see inbreds..

  • The narrator is like Christopher Walken.

  • doesn't the narrator sound a lot like Fritz the cat?

  • @moealharbi The narrator is doing an impression of Frank Morgan (The WIZARD) from The Wizard of OZ. He stammers, interrupts himself and laughs nervously during awkward moments---all Morgan's vocal stylings.

  • so like this

  • 4:07 It would be funnier if the narrator said "Long poem, isn't it?" and the rat, the cat, the dog, the cow and the maid said afterwards, "You're tellin' us!".

  • @Mk97709 Tex Avery would approve of your re-write. :)

  • @GoblinXXX Yeah, too bad he's dead.

  • @Mk97709 Nobody's perfect.

  • a lot of hot cartoons back then

  • A couple of funny jabs at Disney--the two fellows in the "Pease Porridge" sketch look suspiciously like two of Snow White's dwarves, and that's the Big Bad Wolf of Three Lil' Pigs fame shooting craps! Great old 'toon--very similar to the shortsTex Avery did at Warners and later MGM, though I don't think he worked on this one.

  • @HaggisMcCrablice Definitely not. This is Walter Lantz, most famous for Woody Woodpecker, at Universal.

  • boe peep was nippin. lol

  • @godough It was cold that day.

  • This is somewhat like th then current novelty band Kay Kyser also SPike Jokes, both of whom were at their PEAK the time this cartoon were released..Darrell Calker [the real name is the music director!] had a lot of music that wound up on Huckleberry Hound and Beany and Cecil!

  • Lol at 2:07

  • Yeah, Silly ain't he?

  • that was a great !! never seeen this..The sound is great!

  • Funny! Thanks for posting this gem.

  • The little lamb sounds female but is following a girl! LOL

  • nice

  • *sigh they don't make em like this no more :( I rmember running around in my PJ's on a saturday morning with a milk mustache watching these toons. Tex Avery...Joe Barbera...good times...good times.

  • Sadly. They're all dead all :/

They left a legacy that almost zero "animators" today will fill.

  • I agree, these are timeless and perfect.

  • Ditto, gobearsfl rocks! This is a forgotten classic, man! Thank you!
