At 1:47, there were eight members of Planned Parenthood that got humanist awards. They include Margaret Sanger, Albert Ellis, Mary Calderone, Betty Friedan, science fiction author Isaac Asimov, Faye Wattleton, Lyoyd Morain, and Gloria Feldt. I did some research on the late Betty Friedan. Not only she was a member of Planned Parenthood's leadership council, she was also founder of the National Organization of Women and NARAL.
@EqualAndFree The guy probably has sex once every 10 years... most people have a few children, and our life is about 90 years long. So if you have 9 children, that's sex once every 9 years. These christians are all liars, they have sex when the woman isn't capable of having babies later on when she is 50.

fascist, a nearly brain dead fetus being is innocent IS RELATIVE and to save that fetus you force a woman to stay pregnant against her will, civil and constitutional rights.
so what i wrote earlier was bullshit, a fetus is consider a human being legally.
robertmike56 said, "TYou bunch of pedophile protecting scumbags know there is no religion of humanism, but you just love to spew hatred, set up strawmen . "
Humanism is not the problem. The American Humanist Association does not represent all non-theists. In fact, by supporting abortion, they are betraying the basic, universal, secular value of doing no harm to others. Its unsavory alliance with abortionists doesn't make humanism evil, any more than the existence of Catholics for a Free Choice makes Catholicism evil.
To be honest, I'm on the fence about aborton. I would love to listen to your argument. It DOES seem an important debate: Is abortion morally correct? But if you say "Yes, fairies exist" and then in the same sentence say "Yes, abortion is wrong", how exactly am I supposed to restrain myself from laughing at you?
Just stick with the second argument...for God's sake (Pun intended) At least Planned Parenthood helps mothers who are raped and has a moral backbone compared to the Catholic Church.
I was on the fence about abortion a couple of years ago. I am a Christian but I wanted facts. If you want the facts you need to read an embrology text books that talks about the development of the unborn and watch on the internet an abortion take place. That is what made me pro-life I even talked to people in Planned Parenthood before I became pro-life.
The problem with the pro-life is that people who believe such tend to be a little violent:
January 22, 2009 Matthew L. Derosia drives his SUV into a Planned Parenthood clinic.
December 6, 2007: Chad Altman and Sergio Baca were arrested for the arson of Dr. Curtis Boyd's clinic in Albuquerque.
April 25, 2007: A package left at a women's health clinic in Austin, Texas contained an explosive device capable of inflicting serious injury or death.
September 13, 2006 David McMenemy of Rochester Hills, Michigan crashed his car into the Edgerton Women's Care Center in Davenport, Iowa. He then doused the lobby in gasoline and then started a fire.
December 12, 2005: Patricia Hughes and Jeremy Dunahoe threw a Molotov cocktail at a clinic in Shreveport, Louisiana
September 30, 2000: A Catholic priest drove his car into the Northern Illinois Health Clinic after learning that the FDA had approved the drug RU-486.
Greafgriet, give me a break. There is nothing in this video that can be interpreted as inciting violence. You want to play the "which side has more crazies in it" game? Fine, but it's a fruitless endeavor. Here are some names for you to google: Byron Looper. Lavern Ward. Alfred E. Smith. Eileen Orstein Janezic. Malachi Dehenre. John Baxter Hamilton. Milos Klvana. Bruce Steir. David Benjamin. Harlan Drake. Arnold Bickham. John Biskind.
Those people you mentioned are just as mentally ill as the pro-life ppl who trust in god.
It's just that philosophically, I can see why pro-life people do violent things. If a person truly believes in pro-life, they will be tricked into believing an abortion doctor is committing murder. This will make them angry. But what's worrysome is that people who believe they are rewarded in an afterlife for taking justice into their own hands, usually are the ones who kill people.
The Blessed Mother did have a choice and her unselfish choice gave us all hope. You sure have a sick twisted view of history and humanity Greafgriet...
@Greafgriet not in the sense "choice" is used today. Truthfully the "choice" is just placed at the wrong point. Since we all know that sex can lead to babies, if you don't want a baby, don't have sex... that is being pro-choice at the right place. As soon as an egg is fertilized and is implanting into a uterus... that child has the right to live and we as a society have the responsibility to protect the most vulnerable of our society.
I've learned alot in 3 months. The entire reason for the pro-life movement is one reason: to keep women subjugated to men. Religion cannot survive in an educated public, and the easiest way to keep a society ignorant and in poverty is to keep women subjugated to men.
The Catholic Church must deceive to survive. That's why they appeal to the supernatural to simplify the issue of Abortion: whose morality is actually very complex.
The trouble with atheists who think that they are morally superior to religious people is that quite frequently atheists are not "good for goodness sake." That is why humanists so frequently support things like abortion. One can by definition not be good and a moral relativist at the same time. To be good you need an objective conception of what "good" means.
Organized Religion tells people like Bill Oreilly, Glenn Beck, the guy who murdered Dr. George Tiller, and the bigots behind prop 8, that their bigotry, anger, and hatred is just fine, instead of telling them to get mental health care. This makes Organized Religion an evil force in the world.
First you create a straw man, and then you proceed to pummel it. If you are going to claim "rational" reasons for being an atheist, then at least use "rational" arguments.
1) Not all organized religions are equal.
2) Not all organized religions preach hatred, anger, and bigotry.
3) I came here to defend Catholicism ... not any other organized religion.
Yup, this is how one acts when a group of delusional bigoted idiots seek to remove my civil rights from me. Being an American is all about Freedom. Including freedom from the tyranny of religion.
@video010101010 You would have no human rights if it were not for the religious. This is why God is and must be included in your Constitution, and in our Canadian Charter Of Human Rights And Freedoms; to say that we are divinely made, and inherit human rights. For some reason unbeknown to me, you want to be treated like an animal. I fear that you will get your wish, and you will be forced to abort your children, like an animal.
Give me a break. Not long ago people who openly did not believe in religious fairy tales were burned alive at the stake. Then there were the Crusades, the Salem witch trials, the Spanish inquisition, Blackwater's modern day crusade in Iraq, and on and on. Religion = Evil.
@video010101010 Religion is not evil. People are evil. The Crusades? That was 1000 years ago. What were the Indians in America doing at that time? Skinning and eating each other alive that's what. What does Blackwater have to do with it? What, you think Blackwater soldiers are religious fanatics? LOL! That's funny. I can't even imagine a Blackwater guy going to church ever in his entire life. On the contrary, Blackwater is endorsed by the secular government.
Do your homework, Blackwater (now Xe) is was run by a Christian Fundamentalist Religious nut named Eric Prince, who personally endorsed the companies crusade like behavior.
Want another modern day example, how about Dr. George Tiller, who was gunned down in a church of all places.
Religious people tend to be bloodthirsty and evil. Still don't believe me, look at the middle east, present day.
@video010101010 I know who Xe is run by. That is exactly how I would describe that idiot. So you got one lunatic at the top, and thousands of irreligious bandits with guns underneath him, and you blame it on religion. Makes no sense to me. Again, with Tiller, you got one lunatic with a gun out of millions of good prolife people, and you brand all religious people bloodthirsty. Come on, man. Just forget it. God loves you.
I have not laughed that hard all day, thank you for that.
As for the Catholic religion, Google "Catholic Child Abuse" I just did and got over a half a million hits. Or do you support Catholic Priests sexually and physically abusing young children?
What a stupid comment. You want to blame an entire theological and philosophical structure for the actions of those professing to be its members, even though their actions are completely antithetical to the religion they claim as their own!?!?!
Shall we condemn all atheists because of the murderous rampages of Marxist Communists, who killed untold millions of people in the last 100 years?
With respect to the Catholic Church, there is a clear pattern of acceptance of this behavior by the Catholic church, especially in Ireland. You "just a few bad apples" denial does not fly.
But hey, I am sure you will be rewarded for defending the faith by the magical invisible man that lives in the sky. If he exists.
Again ... you are equating a religion (which is a theological and philosophical construct intended to deepen ones faith and relationship with God) with the acts of its members. All people have a fallen nature, and are prone to sin. This is inevitable ... and Catholic teaching has never professed to be made up of sinless people. Bishops are sinners, too. But their sins do not impact the faith one bit, and it is intellectually dishonest to suggest it.
The religious are constantly telling us Atheists that they are better than us, more moral and ethical, because they worship some magical invisible man that lives in the sky. Yet, their behavior suggests otherwise. You can make the "a few bad apples" argument as many times as you want, but the data suggests religious people are not especially ethical or moral.
Now you've gone from mere deflection to full-blown retreat. My comments here have had nothing to do with claims that "the religious" are better than Atheists, I commented to point out your false accusations of the Catholic Faith as based on the acts of some claiming to be practitioners of it. Neither have I made the claim that religious people are more ethical and moral. In fact, I believe I said the opposite when I pointed out that the Catholic Church is made up of sinners.
@video010101010 I'm religious, and I'm against these wars for oil. I have been from the start. So how do you explain that? I guess you'll just ignore it.
The pro-life atheists and agnostics state that life is all there is and all that matters, and abortion destorys the life of an innocent human being. So really, if this is it, if this is the only life we have, why aren't the human secularists protecting every human life, inc. the unborn.
As it stands I try to avoid bringing God into the abortion debate as we have enough science to support the pro-life cause. When people claim abortion as God's work, and sacred, its makes me sick to my stomach.
So Greafgriet... you think it is right to murder an innocent child just because it is a product of rape? To be violated in that way is a very grievous crime to be sure, but it is not the fault of the child.
We need to advocate for the real innocent victim here... the child.
Studies show that a woman who is impregnated during a rape, heals much faster and better if she chooses to keep her baby. Did you ever consider that a child gives a woman a reason to live when she feels so violated?
Ignorance? You mean the ignorance of the Renaissance? Perhaps you mean the ignorance preserved by all the monasteries when the barbarian hordes were burning books and scrols all across Europe after Rome fell? Or perhaps you mean the ignorant medical discoveries made by Catholic clergy?
Look, if you'd like to go back and live in your pagan Utopia filled with superstition, go ahead ... but to accuse the Church of being unscientific and illogical? PLEASE!!!
I'm grieved by your words! Mary, Jesus' mother, did have a choice. She accepted His will. She was not raped by Him. To even read that grieves my spirit. Please, whether you believe the Bible or not, read the story before you accuse God of doing something that is incorrect. Also, it's only because of Jesus' sacrifice on the Cross are we spared of Hell. Yes, I do believe these things to be true. I agree, the "church' has done a HORRIBLE job of representing Christ & His true character!
You know ... I seem to remember a group of people (intimately linked with Planned Parenthood, BTW) who thought it should be legal to kill an entire class (race) of people, too!
Interesting facts -
Sanger and Hitler had a mutual admiration.
IG Farben manufactured the holocaust gas Zyklon B. Today, the same company, existing as Hoechst AG, is the developer and main producer of RU 486.
@Shenanirats if you do research a house fly has more nerves in it than an embryo at a certain stage, so every time a christian kills a house fly it is murder.... Also killing flies, who says this is part of god's plan and not Satan's plan? how will the naive christians ever know? with stem cell research, every skin cell you scratch off your nose is a potential baby. Sam Harris - please look him up - he has the info on this.
If life is a miracle and a perfect creation from your god, why are so many babies born without heads, appendixes, hearts, eyes, eyelids, bones, faces, kidneys, brains, and even with two sexual organs sometimes?
There is no definition for good without God. There is no definition for evil without the devil. Good and evil become whatever you want them to be. At 2:00 this good man explains my point very well. So, we who follow Christ have principles that do not change. Principles that are independent of space and time, which we need for the survival of our species.
@video010101010 If God is real, then the course of action to take is self-evident. If God is not real, then we are only stupid apes, and we should pretend there is a God so we can survive as a species. Either way, there is God.

Perfectibilisti 2 years ago
Do your homework, Blackwater (now Xe) is was run by a Christian Fundamentalist Religious nut named Eric Prince, who personally endorsed the companies crusade like behavior.
Want another modern day example, how about Dr. George Tiller, who was gunned down in a church of all places.
Religious people tend to be bloodthirsty and evil. Still don't believe me, look at the middle east, present day.
video010101010 2 years ago
@video010101010 I know who Xe is run by. That is exactly how I would describe that idiot. So you got one lunatic at the top, and thousands of irreligious bandits with guns underneath him, and you blame it on religion. Makes no sense to me. Again, with Tiller, you got one lunatic with a gun out of millions of good prolife people, and you brand all religious people bloodthirsty. Come on, man. Just forget it. God loves you.
Perfectibilisti 2 years ago
@video010101010 As far as the middle east is concerned, they're in the wrong religion. The whole world should be Catholic, including you.
Perfectibilisti 2 years ago
I have not laughed that hard all day, thank you for that.
As for the Catholic religion, Google "Catholic Child Abuse" I just did and got over a half a million hits. Or do you support Catholic Priests sexually and physically abusing young children?
video010101010 2 years ago
What a stupid comment. You want to blame an entire theological and philosophical structure for the actions of those professing to be its members, even though their actions are completely antithetical to the religion they claim as their own!?!?!
Shall we condemn all atheists because of the murderous rampages of Marxist Communists, who killed untold millions of people in the last 100 years?
discomike1000 2 years ago
With respect to the Catholic Church, there is a clear pattern of acceptance of this behavior by the Catholic church, especially in Ireland. You "just a few bad apples" denial does not fly.
But hey, I am sure you will be rewarded for defending the faith by the magical invisible man that lives in the sky. If he exists.
video010101010 2 years ago
Again ... you are equating a religion (which is a theological and philosophical construct intended to deepen ones faith and relationship with God) with the acts of its members. All people have a fallen nature, and are prone to sin. This is inevitable ... and Catholic teaching has never professed to be made up of sinless people. Bishops are sinners, too. But their sins do not impact the faith one bit, and it is intellectually dishonest to suggest it.
discomike1000 2 years ago
The religious are constantly telling us Atheists that they are better than us, more moral and ethical, because they worship some magical invisible man that lives in the sky. Yet, their behavior suggests otherwise. You can make the "a few bad apples" argument as many times as you want, but the data suggests religious people are not especially ethical or moral.
video010101010 2 years ago
Now you've gone from mere deflection to full-blown retreat. My comments here have had nothing to do with claims that "the religious" are better than Atheists, I commented to point out your false accusations of the Catholic Faith as based on the acts of some claiming to be practitioners of it. Neither have I made the claim that religious people are more ethical and moral. In fact, I believe I said the opposite when I pointed out that the Catholic Church is made up of sinners.

@video010101010 I'm religious, and I'm against these wars for oil. I have been from the start. So how do you explain that? I guess you'll just ignore it.
Perfectibilisti 2 years ago
Yep, as you are ignoring the execution of Dr. George Tiller by Pro-Life Christians.
video010101010 2 years ago
The pro-life atheists and agnostics state that life is all there is and all that matters, and abortion destorys the life of an innocent human being. So really, if this is it, if this is the only life we have, why aren't the human secularists protecting every human life, inc. the unborn.
As it stands I try to avoid bringing God into the abortion debate as we have enough science to support the pro-life cause. When people claim abortion as God's work, and sacred, its makes me sick to my stomach.

Most people think the AmericanLifeLeague is a bunch of religious crazies because they want a complete ban on abortions. It will never happen.
Women always "say" they want pro-life, but what the AmericanLifeLeague wants is a ban on abortions EVEN if a woman is raped.
If that were to be passed, every woman affected would feel that they have no outlet to turn to if they were violated in such a manner.
god doesn't exist (even on Christmas) so it's a good idea to leave that out obviously.
Greafgriet 2 years ago
So Greafgriet... you think it is right to murder an innocent child just because it is a product of rape? To be violated in that way is a very grievous crime to be sure, but it is not the fault of the child.
We need to advocate for the real innocent victim here... the child.
Studies show that a woman who is impregnated during a rape, heals much faster and better if she chooses to keep her baby. Did you ever consider that a child gives a woman a reason to live when she feels so violated?
BlestOne05 2 years ago
Well if the Virgin Mary had been given a choice, we could have been spared the ignorance and bloodshed of the past 2000 years.
Think how the Mother feels about getting raped by the Father and humanity still has yet to fully recover in the areas of science, reason, and logic.

PLEASE!!!
discomike1000 2 years ago

PP follows in the Godless footsteps of its founder...Life is a miracle & a gift from God....Save the babies

@theprolifeguy

Perfectibilisti 2 years ago
"Principles that are independent of space and time"
Your Principles are also independent of reason, logic and science. But hey, don't let that stop you from crawling into your little delusion.
video010101010 2 years ago
@video010101010 If God is real, then the course of action to take is self-evident. If God is not real, then we are only stupid apes, and we should pretend there is a God so we can survive as a species. Either way, there is God.
