There is one more possibility, you left out. The words translated to 'god' do not translate well. Many folks in the Holy Scriptures are called elohim or theos. Jehovah, Jesus, angels, kings, prophets, military heroes, magistrates, the religious hierarchy of Israel and even the devil are called gods. That doesn't make them all Jehovah. That makes them powerful people, which is really the Bible definition of a god, a person of great strength, power or authority.
I agree with what you are saying but do you have to wear that shirt while you are saying it? It looks like my grandma's couch. And nobody believes you are outside, just because you have a green screen doesn't mean you should use it. :)
It is amazing what reactions the name of Jesus Christ invokes. Usually it is only used as a curse word, which is also interesting, as you don't hear people using Buddha's, Muhammad's, or Shiva's names in such way.
Nowadays it is hard to come across a Hollywood movie that doesn't use God's name in vain.
As if defacing His name made Him be less real, or less God. People hate Him and they don't even know why.
This video is a little silly. It depends what part of the world you are in. You mention any "god" in whatever part of the world happens to believe in whatever god has evolved in their own culture and you will hit people 'right to the soul' as you say lol. There is probally no god anyway
Exactly. Niles is only giving voice to the importance of Jesus in his microcosm of experience and then turning it around as if it implied some significance in and of itself. Its navel-gazing in essence.
@Phage0070 Agree. When did someone's own personal feelings about something become grounds for factual proof. You can tell a kid Santa is always watching you and it could shake them to the bone. Does not prove their is a Santa. Only prooves this argument is ilogical
@bytor356 -No Christ convicts the sinner! Those who love sin HATE Jesus Christ because they are forced to judge themselves! Jesus Christ brings light to the darkness!
The term 'Messiah', translated as 'Christ', is not a name but a title. Is there a single prophecy where it says that the name of the Messiah will be JESUS, and that his mother's name will be MARY, that his supposed father will be JOSEPH THE CARPENTER that he will be born in the reign of HEROD THE KING, etc. etc.? No! There are no such details! Then how can you conclude that those 'thousand' prophecies refer to Jesus?"
We Muslims have accepted the de facto Jesus on the authority of Muhammad alone, and there are in the world today no less than 900,000,000* followers of Muhammad who love, respect and revere this great Messenger of God— JESUS CHRIST— without having the Christians to convince them by means of their Biblical dialectics. Out of the 'thousands' of prophecies referred to, can you please give me just ONE single prophecy where Jesus is mentioned by name?
I enquired: "According to you, are there not hundreds of prophecies regarding the coming of Jesus in the Old Testament.” The dominee interjected: "Not hundreds, but thousands!" I said, "I am not going to dispute the 'thousand and one' prophecies in the Old Testament regarding the coming of Jesus Christ, because the whole Muslim-world has already accepted him without the testimony of any Biblical prophecy.
@HumanitysAdvocate Actually, it's quite the contrary. I'm only an atheist, because I've considered the evidence. I know what it's like to be religious - I used to consider myself a believer in God, but that was before I started questioning my beliefs. When I was a Christian, I would fervently defend my faith, without really knowing what was being said on the other side.
Once you educate yourself, put aside your fears and prejudices and look at the matter objectively, ur worldview will change.
@HumanitysAdvocate I mean, I know what you're going through. The only reason you have come on here in an attempt to defend your faith is because you are starting to question it yourself; and you're probably doing this subconsciously. You are longing for affirmation that your beliefs are true, and you are hoping to strengthen your beliefs by arguing successfully; however, this is only the tip of the iceberg and hopefully you'll come to see the light one day.
There are dozens of books out there for you to read on the subject, which both prove that Jesus could not have been the son of God due to lineage, and that all his "miracles" are explicable by natural means i.e. they weren't miracles at all.
Moreover, if you consider the fact that we now know how the universe came exist (through the big bang, from a singularity which came from 'nothing' - quantum theory allows for this), then God didn't create the universe either.
@RationalTheism "through the big bang, from a singularity which came from 'nothing' - quantum theory allows for this"
quantum theory allows no such thing... if you claim such a thing then recreate it.. Isn't science supposed to prove something by an experiment.. PROVE IT...
Make an experiment on INTERNATIONAL TV... Until you make it, don't say you are 99% sure... You only believe some scientist guy whom other guys say is important... That is all
@wyk84 Try and read 'The grand design' by Stephen Hawking - it was just released a couple of months ago.
The first page, he states that we now know enough about the universe to conclude that it came to exist through natural means. He spends the rest of the book explaining how.
If only religious people read this book, they would understand that the Christian God is a fairy tale.
@RationalTheism friend... i have put my christian faith on the line before, i've read extensively on comparative religion especially on Islam and atheism. i have had many doubts before as well. i dont have to debate with u anymore, because i know the bible is 100% truth. the bible speaks for itself, i guess u haven't read the bible-perhaps just cherry-picking verses that suits ur judgement.
then again, i dont care about evolution at all, i know that i have a God who loves me uncondtitionally.
It was, in fact, my reading of the bible which led me away from believing it.
To take an example - you will find throughout Luke's gospel quotes that diseases are caused by 'Demons'. Clearly, as we know now, diseases are caused by bacteria/viruses.
I've read the bible. It's contradicting to say the least (turn the other cheek... and yet eye for an eye) and the lineage disallows for evolution (which is absoutely a fact).
so who created the viruses? when man sinned at the garden of eden, death came upon us all. sickness, pain and death was a curse because of our disobedience.
as for "turn the other cheek etc..." why dont u go search for what this exactly means? instead of relying on ur own understanding?
and well... if one is being rational, he wouldn't even think whatever is in the world happens by chance. the human body alone can't happen by chance.
the bible gives 100% account, backed by historical relics, manuscripts and archeology. u have to fight against these evidences 1st.
whatever atheist gives, are only theories, which like u claim is 99%. you are not even sure for the remaining 1%. these theories changes overtime new ones replacing old ones.
@RationalTheism Stephen Hawking is just a man... He supposes it came to exist through natural means.. He knows nothing of the origin, neither can he.. He is just a human..
Wake up my friend... The big agenda is the ones that let someone like Stephen Hawking dictate what is right and wrong... And the fact that he is crippled makes him something like more of a scientific or something..
@fatfist really? Muslims believe in Jesus Christ but not in his crucifixion...and oh yea...Muhammad was a child molestor that married a 6 year old and had sex with her when she was 9.

@RationalTheism - if it has been thoroughly dis-proven then there would be no controversy.
People do not insist Jesus was God, the Christ, they have faith He was and is the Son of God our savior.
Funny how the mentioning of Jesus Christ brought you out to insist you know what you're talking about.
The difference between an atheist and an agnostic is that the atheist denies the evidence; The agnostic is to stupid to understand it.
