  • anyone have the sheet music for Captain Campbell

  • I enjoy the way you strike in :P

  • Everyone is entitled to their opinion, in my opinion you could be best on mars...

  • Arthur Bignose is a great tune but it is really hard to phrase correctly.I loved it but you speeded up slightly as you yourself noticed.I am at present fighting with the Conundrum I overphrase that aswell and it loses it's Bounce if you know what I mean.Great playing though.

  • Every time I see this video I can almost imagine myself being right there with the almost stormy clouds in the background, likely the smell of rain accompanying the inconsistent moist breeze. I'm going to spend most of this upcoming summer outside. =]

  • Hey Ian...should a first time grade 4 competitive piper go out with Arthur Bignold?

  • I'm grade 4 and think I might have made a mistake selecting this tune. The notes aren't too difficult to get down, but the expression is pretty difficult. I can play the notes just fine, but to have it sounding like this video will take months.

  • like your style on the second march man, I love the first one you played, that happens to be a favorite of mine!

  • im pretty sure it started speeding up in the second part. that. or you started out uncomfortablly slow. i feel the smae way though. i would never play a 2/4 that is expressed every note on left foot that much.

  • hehe. I learned both these for competition this year. Sounds good. Arthur seemed a little round though. Just hold the notes on the downbeat some more. I agree with what you said about fluidity, especially in Capt. C. Try not to be so jumpy from the dotted notes. Sounds kind of strathspeyish. Other than that I thought it was really good. nice work.

  • Interesting comments "unbelievablyamazing"; very interesting indeed. And the videos of your playing are...where?

    Truly...ah...unbelievable?

  • Well then just disregard everything I said then. Forget I commented. I thought it sounded good. But if you post videos, be prepared for comments. I thought most pipers strived for perfect. If you think you're perfect then don't even consider my advice and mock me for trying. If you feel there's room for improvement, think about what I said and decide if it applies or not. I didn't mean to be insulting at all. It sounds great and there were no bad doublings or grips. Expression was overshadowed.

  • HEY HEY! Whoa there unbelievavlyamazing... if you will notice, it was not I, svenskpiper who replied to your last comment, but, rather, this mysterious sunwolfe. Please, I appreciated your comments and thought that they were all in good taste and took what you said to heart... i don't know what sunwolfe's beef with you is but frankly he maybe jumped the gun there. don't ever hesitate to comment and reply and give pointers... cheers. Ian

  • Lmao!! I'm sorry - I didn't realize. Excuse me if my 'self defence' seems a little snarky. I'd been in a HUGE battle of wits (argument :P) last night on a forum, and sunwolfe's comment did nothing to appease my mood.

lol. Next time I'll check to see who the poster actually is. Lol.

The execution of embellishments was absolutely perfect in the vid but just make sure expression isn't sacrificed (like what someone said before). Other than that though, keep up the good work & sorry about all this

  • Unbelievablyamazing:

Sorry for being an ass and making stupid remarks...my bad. I was tired and feeling catty. That's not an excuse...just a lame explanation. Regardless, my comment was rude and borrish and I sincerely apologize. I don't mean to bring bad Karma to SvenskPiper's cool vids. Hope you both can disregard my foolishness.

    Regards,

    Sunwolfe

  • i have so much to learn...

    :o/

  • I loved it!! very well played.A little more pointing and it will be even better keep it up excellent!!!

  • I think you're playing them "heavy style" .

    I like it!

    Cheers.

  • Very well played Laddie!!!!!

    Your Pipe sounds very good!!!!!

Kindest regards and allways good reeds!!!!

Greetings from an german bagpipe beginner!

    Andreas

  • I disagree regarding the expression. I think that execution of embellishments is an obvious strength of yours but in this case, it was the execution that outshined the expression. I hear what you're saying about fluidity; I just think it was the embellishments that were stilting it. I'm trying to explain it hehe. I guess the execution, while clean, crisp, and precise, seemed a bit mechanical and didn't lend to the expression you're aiming for.

  • hmmm, food for thought, i appreciate the input
