I listened to this album when I went a week away to Rome on a school trip. Being there, in that beautiful town where the weather is just amazingly nice and the buildings and streets just breathtaking, added another dimension to this album. It reminds me of sitting of sitting outside of the Vatican for lunch, the green color of the park on top of the people's square and just of all the fun times. Damn, I love this album
I love the end of this song, when he gives the tiny stripped down sample of "Midnight in a Perfect World" which appears later on the CD. I don't know why, but it just gives me chills.
The first time I heard this song was on a 7 hour flight from Ireland to New York when I was 10. I was a bit worried when it came on over the headphones because it sounded like the apocalypse to me but anyway I lived to tell this stupid tale! ... Never heard anything like this, we need more shadow in our lives.
@tacosaucemafia from what shinoda was saying on his blog a while ago....he grew up listenin to dj shadow records....and in this song u cud kinda hear the influence he's had on the music making. especially hybrid theory
One day during the summer I was walking across town to get to my dentist for a check up. This song was playing in my iPod. At around the 3:00 minute mark when the beat drops the 2nd time, as I was approaching the intersection, I witnessed a police officer on a motorcycle crash into the left side of a pick up truck that was making a turn. The cop was knocked out cold. With DJ Shadow blasting in my ears it made the scene more surreal as others came out of their way to help the cop. Crazy day.
its funny how society/culture segregates us, but all of us are here to listen to the same thing. I believe we are all connected, and as I'm listening to this, and think this. i know somewhere others think the same, and that brings me happiness.
The 'DJ' part is desceptive, I think. Like he's just some terrible house music guy wit little talent, rather than a record-breaking hip-hop landmark and largely underated genious!
@SmurfAndBuffalo yeah i don't like that either, you're right. When somebody has DJ in front of their name, people tend to think of some shitty techno/dance artist. Shadow is in a league of his own.
its just an ode to those of us who decided to open our minds to good music. we are blessed to have been lucky enough to have found dj shadow. fuck yeah
So they take me in on a chain to Long Beach And now they lock me up in the cell behind the court room in Long Beach ............ Oh I assumed that maybe some day my mother would realize that I should've gotten out. whats to stop them lol :)
i still don't understand how someone can "dislike" this. even if your main genre of music is fucking country or gospel or even christian opera, this is still a heaven-sent group of soundwaves.
anyone remember this being on a guinness ad from years ago it had some lad putting up a fence then this water tower blowing to shit behind him...? anyway monster tune!
