Great trailer, although it still looks highly pixelated in my window. One small request, could you please correct the director's name from "Geoffrey Reggio" to "Godfrey Reggio" Thanks!
If meaning is the point, then propaganda and advertising is the form. So in the sense of art, the meaning of KOYAANISQATSI is whatever you wish to make of it.
Philip Glass the inventor of the Arpeggiator on Synthesizers ;-) I saw the movie as child in TV. Unforgetten special true movie with fantastic other kind of classic music. Watch it!
I agree. It's quite sad that Home required such extensive narration and facts when the images alone carried a stronger message by themselves. Koyaanisqatsi remains a silent film to me.
This video is not in HD format as your title has suggested. If you want a good example of what HD should look like just cut and paste this YouTube video ID into the Search box (it's not spam, but a music video of the Australian Billy Elliot boys at Christmas last year, just to show what "real HD" should look like): JxjcQ94IkjY
@Bratgoul "This video is not in HD format as your title has suggested"
"Yes, I know... blah blah blah"
Instead of making rather silly excuses, why not simply do the right thing & re-name it? It's quite aggravating, while spending time searching for HD entertainment, to find more of your time has been spent SEARCHING [through mistitled, LOW-QUALITY nonsense] than actually being ENTERTAINED.
sheesh. At the time, HD didn't exist on YT, and yes, my version was of higher definition than the existing ones available. And yes, I renamed it. Any other questions?
I was speechless after watching this today. But this is an extraordinary film, it is an experience. I just can`t stop thinking about it. It is beautiful, with haunting music, and is thoughtprovoking. The transition from nature to urban society is eerie. Their is just an order to nature, but with mankind everything is chaotic. ..though what they have made is fantastic, theres a wrongness to us humans, you can feel it. For a movie with no words, it says more than a 3 hour long film with them.
I saw this when it was released in cinemas in the UK in 1983. I went to the cinema on a Friday night with friends, having NO idea entirely what this film was AT ALL...never even saw the trailer or read a review or heard of it.
2 hours later. none of us were ever quite the same again...
A copy of this film should be placed on all man made satellites, I can think of no better way of letting the universe understand just how lucky we are.
Its basically a observational documentary/film portraying humans as objects. And in transition, shows how we have gone from complete isolation, to destructive industrialization.... through evolution.
Confound these ponies, they drive me to watch profound avant-garde movies.

The masterpiece. The difference with "Home" : Koyaanisqatsi have been made 27 years before. Great job. Thx Mr Reggio, thx Mr Glass

What does the Grand Theft Auto game have to do with this film?
bendutta2008 2 years ago
The first GTA IV trailer uses music from the "Pruit Igoe" segment of the movie, and heavily borrows the film's aesthetitcs.

It's a very powerful video. A college professor introduced me to this video 10 years ago....and it still stays with me.

the film shows the world from an objective perspective,
you see the world with the eyes of someone else,
with the eyes of someone who isnt from the earth,
but from somewhere where men hasnt been yet,
who came just to watch the earth and what human being created on & of it
From top to bottom, from left to right,
from far to near, from outside to inside
Under circumstances for some this film could possibly
be a transcendental experience

A visually stunning film with a great score and a great narrative (despite there not being a word of dialogue). One of my all-time favourites.

It's about looking at life and the world around you, but in a different way than you probably ever thought of to look before.
