My ALL TIME FAVORITE 80s song....I love the memories this brings back to when my life was simplier and fun. I loved the 80s and the music was classic and original. This song is very hard to find on vinyl or on cd. Thanks for posting :)
The 80s were brilliant and I'm so pleased to have those music memories as a link to a very cool time in my life. Thanks for posting this song. I thought it was okay back then but its nostalgic value makes it so much more precious to me now.
Great song for a great time that will never come again. Our world isn't coming to an end anytime soon, but we are. It's true every specie must rise to their highest level of incompetence before crashing and burning. Fate is the brick wall and stupidity is the vehicle. All in all, it was a good life.
And, if the 80s were sweet, 70s music was even sweeter and such meaning and feelgood, the music of the 70s and 80s actually makes me feel euphoric. Today's music does not stand a chance, just makes me feel depressed!
@c0ncentrati0n Any higher and he would have chocked himself... perhaps he was struggling with his guitar but at least he had his hair all figured out... nice mullet.
@nikkibox 1984 was the release of their debut album. A very 'Blink and you miss them' band and they only had chart impact in europe really with this song. 'Ghost Of Love' released before charted outside the top 50 and after 'Feels Like Heaven', they released their second album which had no hit singles and they disbanded. They were essentially killed by their own hit.
@bibbster68 Well schlabresfan is totally right. It's the rap influence that's turned music into a paradise for trash-talk. I'm not a devout christian or anything but we just don't need that in music. A million songs like GaGa's and Bieber's today just talk shit like "oh yeah, i'm gonna do this to this guy or this to this girl" or whatever and any songs that actually try to talk about real compassion are just hollow and emotionless and sucky. Listen to this again... 'Feels Like Heaven' is such a
brilliant and perfectly orchestrated song. Music in general after about 1994 hit rock bottom. There have been exceptions (mainly underground ones) but with the death of MTV and the rise of rap, R& B etc..., its in bad shape. I just hope it will run its course and die so things like this can return. Music has to start having a meaning again. It has to be carefree but at the same time, meaningful and it shouldn't be about rolling joints, shooting rival gang members or "fucking" my "bitch". sad ) :
Whenmy brother rejoined the army, he given me his classic Audi Quattro UR and I popped a Fiction Factory CD along with Simple Minds and other stuff in and it ooozess the 1980's. Absolutly fantastic era for music.
hi guys thanks for mail, its not about any era, its about MUSIC, notice i say music and not artist, to me the artist is of little importance, when you listen to or dance to music, in a club or over radio, you hear MUSIC, could be any good voice doing it as long as its good or superb, after all you do not dance or listen to artist voices in a club or over radio DO YOU? i know the inflection of people;s voices can make a good record Superb, but same artist cannot make a poor record good
why is that every time i seem to go on a page you get some silly odl person saying that these years etc where better than what they turn out now, crap, im 20 well nearly 21, and its about "music" not years i listen to my dads dodgy old stuff and some of his is really ancient stuff back to the 50s & 60s and some of it is ok, there is good and bad music in every decade, i trawl through this place and it as lots to offer in evry period so its out there waiting to be rediscovered go for it
@Gail940 But friend, you cannot deny that music was indeed better in past decades (referring to mainstream music). The reason is not necessarily a lack of talent today but rather that true talent is not given the true place it deserves in today's society (world really). "Artists" today are manufactured, packaged, sold, delivered and discarded as fast as one young person can press the "send" button to their "text" message. It is reality friend, plain and simple.

You got that right, what use was having so much fun then if you don't have the scares to enjoy now. But you didn't end up with the same skirt did you? That would be a fail...as the kids say today!
Amazing to see and hear this litle known record after all this time.........me other half teaches in a Grammar sch in Boston where the lads seem to be discovering the eighties music...
Maybe it's a trait of our age group but we always link memories to music, I was in my teens when this was out and no matter what anyone ever tells you that;s the best time of your life.
I didn't think 25 years ago that I'd be here listening to great songs like this over and over....
you know what ... even though I'm 16 years old ... i still love this 80's song. I love the rhythm, the lyrics (FEELS LIKE HEAVEN.!!) and the sound of the piano.!! :D
keyboard player now works for Edirol Music. I used to work for Roland Synthesizers and worked with him on some projetcs, nice guy and had some interesting stories about these times. Cool track!
Honestly now, singers COULD SING back in the 80's. Bands COULD PLAY back in the 80's. The music (tune), actually had rhythm and had melody; and the lyrics MADE SENSE. The musicians had showmanship aside from having true talent. Thus, wonderful songs were written and performed in those days which is the reason why they remain current to this day.
@gal80s Brilliant analysis-all I'd add aswell is that you could tell every sound cos synths are so creative and genius for new sounds and everyone had distinction-AND every possible subject for a song was dealt with-now it's just sleazy, pappy, crappy lovesong bollocks that's all been done befoe and much better anyway. Listeners, today's 'artists' and all the critics that dig it all instead of burying it all after setting fire to it should all be shot or drowned in a cage.
@TheMjblades You are so right! The synth sound was so distinctive and the level of creativity (in my opinion), was at its all-time high in those days. I loved what you said at the end of your comment, and I am in total agreement with you !
@gal80s yep thats totally true, I've been saying it for years now and I was born in 86! thats why so called artists today are covering ever 80's song under the sun, they cant make music now, nothing comes close, music died in the early 90's
@biglongrob Thank you! I am glad to know that there are some younger people out there like yourself who can actually discern between what constitutes GOOD MUSIC from what is just mere SOUNDS. I realize that to assume the reality that the music in the 80s was so great, arises some negative feelings on the part of some youngsters who refuse to see that the mainstream music of their own generation is awful. But the 80s were a different time and the music reflects that (continued)
@biglongrob (continued from previous), I just wanted to say that the music of each generation reflects the overall feeling and vibe of that particular society within its place and time. The 80s was a decade of great creativity so the originality of music reflected that. Today's music is in sync with today's values and vibe: manufacture, package, sell, deliver, discard. Everything nowadays is too fast paced and done in a mediocre manner. That is why the music and vibe of the 80s rule.
they have baby faces coz we are 20 odd years older lol, check out dave gaham from depeche mode, the babiest of faces, the good old days, i so want to be 17 again
When I first heard this song, I thought it was a love song, but upon reading the words, quickly realized that this song was about a guy that was so excited to be getting out of one. Definitely a great break up song...
An wonderful era of music. Unfortunately it was replaced with a sort of visual and verbal toxic sludge. Now you must to wade through all the arrogant, violent, and overboard explicit nonsense. Then if you add the openly sadistic and satanic malignance... you got some pretty disappointing stuff these days. There are some bright spots though... not all is dung.
@RamsesReturns Yes, it was-it had all the best people. Don't forget to add today's stupid, pathetic wannabee slut-trash pop courtesy of all the talentless bimbos aswell as all the braindead guitar twats and Boyzone-lite bollocks. You are being too kind-you get almost everything disappointing nowadays. Pure trash is being kind! The few bright spots are barely enough to light a matchbox-and even then they risk being turned into something truly terrbile by clueless record execs. It's hell now...
Hmmm... I am just very disappointed, you seem very angry. But it reads like you were closer to the industry than I. PS: Those bright spots are hard to find as an era of evil appears to have ascended over the industry. In the 50's the devil was playing back-up in some basement venue. In the 60's he got his foot in the door. Today he is center stage, lead singing, writing, marketing, and producing. Evil unchecked and unopposed has always been mans default.
@RamsesReturns I'm afraid I am and you would be too if you were faced with talentless losers sucking your mind dry every time you open your eyes and ears. I love my music but now we have nothing-and this will go on forever-ALL the best stuff is behind us. Says it all when the Queen of Music Kim Wilde comes back again and her naff label won't even release her VERY brilliant stuff in the sodding UK or US! Cos it's all about Cowell and today's trash and sexual inequality always stalks the best!
@RamsesReturns I didn't get the chance to add what you said about the devil was really good. In fact the Antichrist appeared in the 1980s-Madonna!-along with Pete Waterman and they started its descent into hell. She had no right scumming up the 80s like she did-the 90s, noughties and now is her complete disgusting and ill-formed environment. Anger, hate, blind hate, deathly disappointment, indifference, plain boredom, I feel the lot, but if I didn't I wouldn't be happy, just dead-what's happy?
Probably one of the very best 80's songs, and barely anyone has heard it! What a shame!
Vacuumscam 6 days ago
Only ADELE can come close to this song. But JUST CLOSE!!
It is true, that today's music can't compare with music from the 80's.
Put this track on a strong hi-fi device and press play. If you dont feel the cold on your back, then your hearth is dead.
DEAD.
You will remember Lady GaGa by her look, but this sound is remembered by the MELODY.
And I love it.

You got that right, what use was having so much fun then if you don't have the scares to enjoy now. But you didn't end up with the same skirt did you? That would be a fail...as the kids say today!

@slamlocker
Maybe it's a trait of our age group but we always link memories to music, I was in my teens when this was out and no matter what anyone ever tells you that;s the best time of your life.
I didn't think 25 years ago that I'd be here listening to great songs like this over and over....

Brilliant song! -
the 80s was all about being unique with a great sound - now music sounds all so similar and is washed and rinsed version from songs from the past.
Also is it just me or does music now sound so aggressive compared to the 80s
PanamaSupra 1 year ago 6
@PanamaSupra
agreed. nothing like that these days! Id just moved up from London to County Durham when this came out- very evocative ...

Total 80's the decade of the best music every
jimpyno1 1 year ago
Honestly now, singers COULD SING back in the 80's. Bands COULD PLAY back in the 80's. The music (tune), actually had rhythm and had melody; and the lyrics MADE SENSE. The musicians had showmanship aside from having true talent. Thus, wonderful songs were written and performed in those days which is the reason why they remain current to this day.

@thesplatmaster Thank you my friend ! Cheers to you!
gal80s 1 year ago
@gal80s Brilliant analysis-all I'd add aswell is that you could tell every sound cos synths are so creative and genius for new sounds and everyone had distinction-AND every possible subject for a song was dealt with-now it's just sleazy, pappy, crappy lovesong bollocks that's all been done befoe and much better anyway. Listeners, today's 'artists' and all the critics that dig it all instead of burying it all after setting fire to it should all be shot or drowned in a cage.
TheMjblades 1 year ago
@TheMjblades You are so right! The synth sound was so distinctive and the level of creativity (in my opinion), was at its all-time high in those days. I loved what you said at the end of your comment, and I am in total agreement with you !
gal80s 1 year ago 2
@gal80s yep thats totally true, I've been saying it for years now and I was born in 86! thats why so called artists today are covering ever 80's song under the sun, they cant make music now, nothing comes close, music died in the early 90's
biglongrob 1 year ago
@biglongrob Thank you! I am glad to know that there are some younger people out there like yourself who can actually discern between what constitutes GOOD MUSIC from what is just mere SOUNDS. I realize that to assume the reality that the music in the 80s was so great, arises some negative feelings on the part of some youngsters who refuse to see that the mainstream music of their own generation is awful. But the 80s were a different time and the music reflects that (continued)
gal80s 1 year ago
@biglongrob (continued from previous), I just wanted to say that the music of each generation reflects the overall feeling and vibe of that particular society within its place and time. The 80s was a decade of great creativity so the originality of music reflected that. Today's music is in sync with today's values and vibe: manufacture, package, sell, deliver, discard. Everything nowadays is too fast paced and done in a mediocre manner. That is why the music and vibe of the 80s rule.

RamsesReturns 1 year ago 34
@RamsesReturns Yes, it was-it had all the best people. Don't forget to add today's stupid, pathetic wannabee slut-trash pop courtesy of all the talentless bimbos aswell as all the braindead guitar twats and Boyzone-lite bollocks. You are being too kind-you get almost everything disappointing nowadays. Pure trash is being kind! The few bright spots are barely enough to light a matchbox-and even then they risk being turned into something truly terrbile by clueless record execs. It's hell now...
TheMjblades 1 year ago
@TheMjblades
RamsesReturns 1 year ago
@RamsesReturns I'm afraid I am and you would be too if you were faced with talentless losers sucking your mind dry every time you open your eyes and ears. I love my music but now we have nothing-and this will go on forever-ALL the best stuff is behind us. Says it all when the Queen of Music Kim Wilde comes back again and her naff label won't even release her VERY brilliant stuff in the sodding UK or US! Cos it's all about Cowell and today's trash and sexual inequality always stalks the best!
TheMjblades 1 year ago
@RamsesReturns I didn't get the chance to add what you said about the devil was really good. In fact the Antichrist appeared in the 1980s-Madonna!-along with Pete Waterman and they started its descent into hell. She had no right scumming up the 80s like she did-the 90s, noughties and now is her complete disgusting and ill-formed environment. Anger, hate, blind hate, deathly disappointment, indifference, plain boredom, I feel the lot, but if I didn't I wouldn't be happy, just dead-what's happy?
TheMjblades 1 year ago
@RamsesReturns I could not of said it any better myself. Art has really been hijacked by the fringe wako's (aka Gaga). Disgusting.
