The woman who played Mara was the second wife of Tyrone Power. They had 2 daughters Taryn & Romina Power

Brenda Joyce looks delightfully leggy as Jane in this film, though Weissmuller is badly out of shape in his last Tarzan film.

The octopus battle was a good idea but it should have been employed in an earlier film when Weissmuller was in better shape. Had the underwater battle been lengthened, it could have rivaled the epic crocodile battle in Tarzan and His Mate.

This person is informing us that they have just learned that Brenda Joyce, who played Jane in this film, died on 23 July 2009. She had appeared in three other Tarzan films before this one - "Tarzan and the Amazons", "Tarzan and the Leopard Woman", and "Tarzan and the Huntress". She was retained by RKO when Johnny Weissmuller quite the series and appeared in their next film, "Tarzan's Magic Fountain", with Lex Barker. This made her the only actress to work with two Tarzan's as Jane.

"Tarzan and the Mermaids" was Johnny Weissmuller's 12th and final film as Tarzan. The film was released in 1948.

Weissmuller made 6 Tarzan films for RKO Pictures from 1943 until 1948. After his success from the Tarzan movies, Weissmuller went on the play Jungle Jim for Columbia Pictures.
