get to know what your gf or bf wants in life. their interests, religion, family, date for a year or 2 and make sure you have a stable job. communication and economy are the main things u want to worry about. just my opinion...
I think 6 months... at the least... to ask someone to marry you, and it doesnt matter how long ur engaged, whenever you guys want to have the day. IMO
