I don't understand how this documentary was made because when I was in the highest level of the NICU my parents weren't even allowed to have a watch with an alarm because of the over stimulation risk

Whenever working in an environment where there are patients we're in constant communication with medical personel and family, making sure that what we're doing and filming is OK. The safety of the patient is always a priority. We also do our best to be unobtrusive. For instance, in this documentary there was only one person, one camera, and one tripod in the room. No extra lights, no sound person, no producer, etc.
