There's a line in the game that's deleted but still in the sound file. If you turn down his offer, G-Man says:

"Well, I guess we won't be working together. So, the Vorts might think he's a messiah, but that place he hit in Interloper was the factory where the alien grunts were made. That's why they were in barrels.
