@MrStihlms260 I made the handle bars. How slow do you want it to cut... 28" small mount is the longest I am aware of that is available at the dealer. If a longer bar is needed then I would suggest a bigger power head.
I have never cut an ash tree so it is questionable. This saw does pretty good in our Live Oak trees though. They are very dense, like cutting in a rock pile because of all the silica that gets pulled up.
I have a 066 and my buddy i fall with has a 395 xp thats newer than my saw. His saw will out- cut mine , but I need some tuning right now. He also triple ported his muffler the other day which helped a little. He runs a 36inch bar and i run a 32 inch. Were in wyoming.
Hello. Maybe you could post a video of it cutting? You are working in pretty high elevations so send it to me for modifcations . A nice torque tune zip job would suit it well. You will be much happier with it.
I like your videos. They show something important... I thought stihl 660 is better in hardwood with longer bar like husky. Stihl has 2 rings on the piston so the comression should be better as well as tourqe. I never had any husky I run only on stihl, but I am not disapointed with it :-). Today I rebuild my older 064 ( new rings on the piston and litle bit cleaning..) and it runs like new one. I only use bar up to 63 cm / 25 inch.
Hello Rudoatlas, the 660 is in higher state of tune stock. When the 395 and 660 are modified, they are pretty equal with a 36"bar. The 395 is a better choice for a longer bar, especially in harder wood. My 395 pulls a 54" bar very well in old growth fir. I ran a 41" Cannon on an 066 in some old growth Redwood(cuts like Cedar) and it pulled it pretty good. I am a power freak though and probably not run anything longer than a 50" on the Stihl. Hey, thanks for looking and your comments!!!

How would this do with that 28" bar buried in ash?

I think there is no difference, or are they?
thanks for reply.
