@magnus56j The Agia Sophia was so impressive that an attempt was made to match it but they couldnt make it as big as the Agia Sophia, The Blue Mosque. The prostrations are similure although we (we being Orthodox) pray facing East while the muslims pray facing Mecca.

There's a mosque in Holland here a mile from my home and they do the same thing ones or twice a day. I'm original Dutch and there's alot of propaganda against this but i get this spiritual feeling when i hear this and i wish it would go on forever. It has a peacefull charm in it witch says: why bother? Now if they would never had screw around in the middle east and stealing there recourses we could live in harmony together. In Bangladesh, the capital city Dhaka is known by city of million mosques. You can travel the whole world but nothing you can compare to Dhaka regarding Azan sounds. It ends up after a long time as we have lot of mosques.It seems like the beautiful sound never ends.

@RainstRom1 Man, you are really ignorant! Read some history. It was build by Christians. This was the biggest Christian Orthodox temple for centuries until the construction of Seville's Cathedral. The city was conquered by the Turkish and they modified the temple, it was transformed into a mosque. The art inside of the temple and the architecture is al Byzantine, all Christian. Good thing it was not totally destroyed. The Muslims were impressed with Christian art and left things untouched.

@RainstRom1 Man, you are really ignorant! Read some history. It was build by Christians. This was the biggest Christian Orthodox temple for centuries until the construction of Seville's Cathedral. The city was conquered by the Turkish and they modified the temple, it was transformed into a mosque. The art inside of the temple and the architecture is al Byzantine, all Christian. Good thing it was not totally destroyed. The Muslims were impressed with Christian art and left things untouched.

I just hope that people realize that ALL our faith's teach us to take the same path but in slightly different ways. I guess my point was i dont like it when I see people say "or faith is better than yours", or "our faith says God says we have to kill" etc etc because no one knows God (although many faiths claim they do) better than God himself. I respect everyone's religion as they all offer something unique :)

This sound assures a person that GOD 'ALLAH" is the same and he's alive and well looking down on us. Some mosques In London say the call to prayer out loud bust it's mostly in muslim communities. in non-islamic areas where there are mosques the call to prayer isnt said out loud into the streets(most). And even if they do they wouldnt be quining peace and tranquility anyway it's very noisy anyway in London - it's not exactly a peacefull countryside. and islamic call to prayers never really offend anyone anyway.
