Also, finding a tech who does soak off gel is a good solution too. Soak off gel is cured with a UV light and soaks off very easily, but is a nice protective covering. It's much more thinner and flexible for natural nails than acrylic.
Safe removal of acrylic would be filing the acrylic as low as possible, and then soaking off the rest. Acrylic is tough stuff. That's why you def. don't want to rip it off the nails. Lightly buffing the nails with a yellow buffer and sleeping with cuticle oil overnight will help. The next morning you can wash off the oil and finish up with Zoya polish. Or, even better, Qtica Nail growth Stimulator. It has garlic extract and promotes quick and healthy growth.

That's why it's good not to go to a discount salon. They usually use MMA. Also, don't pick or rip the acrylic off the nail.
