@whewmancool Macintosh computers are better for typography and graphic design due to the Quartz 2D performance as well as the integration of PDF imaging within Macosx. If you are in graphic design for advertisements or create page layouts for magazines, a Macintosh computer is essential for those professions.

As for video editing. Big budget movies are done on either Windows or Mac depends on the company. Most studios don't use FCP anyways they use Avid. FCP7 is prominent in TV broadcasting.

@galacticaphantome well i admit i like FCP7 a bit hmm... but the mac especially macbook pro just doesn't have enough processing power, i had g74sx with i7 2820qm with gtx 560m and the rendering feel mich faster than my colleague macbook pro and yes my g74sx run mac os x lion 10.7 with full 64 bit support rendering fcp is really much faster(compared to mbp 2011 that 700 dollar more, in my work speed are essence, mac is nice os, but thier product is way too overpiced for that spec

@whewmancool FCP7 doens't run off 64bit architecture, so yea the program is no doubt slower than Adobe Premiere which is 64 bit.

Also, I can claim that a lot of things "feel faster" on my Mac than Windows, but I'm not since it's a fallacy. Macbooks use the same Sandy Bridge processors as the Asus, Dells, Etc. What your "feeling" has more to do with what you want to believe than what is actually true.

@althais well, for the iSight camera, in '06, not many laptops had a webcam embedded in, and Apple was one of the first. Dual Core processors in laptops were unheard of, save for desktop replacement 2 inch thick wintel monsters and also, Steve built up the RDF and suspense by releasing the product at the end of the conference when most hopes of a product release were already dashed, save for the Core Duo iMac which was introduced at the starting of the conference.

@althais back then, dual core processors were just showing up in home computing, and in laptops they were a myth. The iSight deal was that almost no computer had a webcam built in. Today it' s a standard but before it was just purely unheard of. Back then laptop chargers would connect to the computer and kinda "lock". Now all these things are standard, but this was all new back then.
