There is no difference, the PS3 version is just a port available to download from the PlayStation Network. I downloaded it for my PSP.

And this guy's characters are low levels here, I get Cloud and Barret to level 11 before this boss.

You need to create a virtual memory card by going to Game, Memory Card Utility, Create New Internal Memory Card. Pick PS1, name it. Then select it, hit triangle, assign it to slot 1 or slot 2. You'll be good to go after that.

@xXAshe9949Xx Ok then what about the Ps1 saves I copied from my actual PS1 memory card using the Sony Memory Card Adaptor to make a virtual memory card on the PS3? I also found MemcardRex a program that allows Dexdrive and Ps1 emulater saves to be converted to PS3's PS1 PSV saves and vise versa but I haven't played with it much. I'm selling my copy of FF7 but before I download this off PSN I want my saves to work.

Can you run? The original is sucky because you can't run unless you press circle!

Can you run without circle, and just using the analog stick?

not on PS3 but if you play it on PSP yes you do. all you have to do is go to custom setting and change the controls. just set the analog stick to the same settings as the arrow button but don't change the arrow button settings. the analog control is great for moving your character around but you still need the arrow button for moving your arrow around the screen. works great!
