If anyone could help me out with a question. I leave for basic this summer for the National Guard.. I haven't gotten a chance to see where I'm going but from what i've seen on here, Army and National Guard go to the same BCT? Also, my MOS is 31B Military Police, is that also with people who are Army? Or will I only see fellow National Guard? Thanks -Gabe
@gdude5694 hi! bct is a mix of gaurd, reserves, and active, though they may be in different platoons. in my itb company, the guard soldiers who would be graduating to the guard were all in the same platoon. as far as the 31b osut goes, im not sure which post it will be, maybe benning.

Now since I'm in marine corps, there some rumors from the privates that we are going stop using bayonets, which is stupid move because bayonets let u kill someone from a safe distance, after running out of ammunition! Maybe not! Wish me luck in afghan! In a year!

@KimCHiBaStaRd yes you lear law and order, but the MP function has changed alot..i am curently deployed and serve no law and order purpose,lol. Combat MP is the new thing...so youll see alot more of the infantry type training than anything.
@originalbeastchick I made a 35 on my ASVAB and im an MP, Once u get to MEPS to pick your job, make sure u tell them u want to be an MP. The Counselor who helped me pick my job was really pushing Chaplains assitant on me so i told him i wasnt going to swear in yet, if they did have the job that I wanted,
so i just stayed really stubborn and eventually he gave in and made a phone call and all the sudden an MP job was available for me. So just be stubborn and stick to your guns because they WILL try to sway u in a different direction
@hockeyyismylife depends how many you have.. 3 is a no-go. You can get a waiver for anything though. Just don't lie about it, or it will mess you up in the long run.
@arrowoflight360 HAHAHA Mp training is about 19-21 weeks long depending on your class size, i graduated 01 July 2010. You dont have to be the best fit person but you should be in a decent shape, trust me you will get in shape quick!!!!!!! Basic was the worst time of my life, but also the best, and most fun(wierd i know). you learn ALOT of stuff. The only thing you need to do is LISTEN TO THE DRILL SERGEANTS and youll be alright. A-795

US Military Police Vet 1967-70. 95B MOS. Fort Gordon Georgia, 18 months on Okinawa with 1st MP Group, 20th MP Co. policing jarheads on R&R from the Nam as well as providing base security and town patrol. This is some serious training and soldiering. Get yourself an education along the way, keep your nose clean, and you will have a shot a good law enforcement career. This is where it began for me.
@Luishazong i got some tips: get verrry very angry, start hating most people, if you don't already (which i bet you do) start to enjoy killing people you don't know...oh and think that you're helping your whole nation when in reality your only helping the few up top
@Flipnoy808 I have heard being an MP Officer is more administrative than going in as enlisted (being in an office as opposed to being out into the field). Check out some military sites or Yahoo Answers, you might find a better answer there.

yeah the army will never let you fail I been in for 4 years i got two years to go till im inactive reserve but i never thought i make iit but I did so far and it is well worth it tell your son everything will work and what he will experience will be time of his life it might be hard but he will look back and remember all the times and see them as good i for sure do... and armynavygirl Make sure MP is what you want Military offers all ranges of job MP is dangerous but funn!!!!!
my son is at FLW now. I told him they will tell him everything he needs to know and the Army won't let him fail. He was very nervous about failing. Too many horor stories I supposed. Still waiting for a letter
depends on the test, im red green defishant. i failed the ishihara test but past the falant test (its lights they show and ask wut color u see) like a traffic light.
you have to score at least a 91 on the (ST) or Skilled Technical part of the ASVAB... your overall score doesn't matter as long as it's above a 31, any lower than a 31, and you can't get in the Army anyway...
do you have to be selected for mp duty or do you just enlist and state that as a job you want to have? also I read you can not have any prior law violations ? is that traffic tickets or just felony and misdemenor convictions?
@dock534 in A.I.T you only get off one day out of the fuckin week man and thats on sunday. my 1stsgt was a hard ass and took away passes left and right. i didnt get a post pass until three weeks before i graduated AIT but befor that i got about 3 briade passes. MP can get aweful hours in active army i hear but in reserve it helps with becoming a police officer. dont let any one tell you the army looks good on a resume. it only looks good if you got deployed preety much lol
@dock534 You don't need to know shit! Just don't be a dumb ass listen to what your training will teach you. The Army will either be the easiest thing you will do or the hardest it all depends on you! I preach Mentally tough and physically fit above all. From there you can accomplish what ever you want. It's not always fun and if some one tells you other wise they are lying out there ass. If you want to know what it's really like to be an MP in the states, korea and Iraq PM me and I will share!

MP Training is what is called OSUT, One station Unit Training. Basic Training and MP School in the same area, same Drill Sgts, same Barracks, Just different crap to do everyday.
Ft. Gordon, 1968, get drunk and eat and sleep through classes. go to Saigon, kick ass.

yeah the army will never let you fail I been in for 4 years i got two years to go till im inactive reserve but i never thought i make iit but I did so far and it is well worth it tell your son everything will work and what he will experience will be time of his life it might be hard but he will look back and remember all the times and see them as good i for sure do... and armynavygirl Make sure MP is what you want Military offers all ranges of job MP is dangerous but funn!!!!!

my son is at FLW now. I told him they will tell him everything he needs to know and the Army won't let him fail. He was very nervous about failing. Too many horor stories I supposed. Still waiting for a letter

yes u have to read the red-green dotted cards, but only for the army. Other services don't make you read them.

can you be an mp if your color defishant?
those cards they use to test to see if your color blind,i have trouble with, but i can tell the diffrence between a red shirt or a green shirt, so...

depends on the test, im red green defishant. i failed the ishihara test but past the falant test (its lights they show and ask wut color u see) like a traffic light.

you have to score at least a 91 on the (ST) or Skilled Technical part of the ASVAB... your overall score doesn't matter as long as it's above a 31, any lower than a 31, and you can't get in the Army anyway...

do you have to be selected for mp duty or do you just enlist and state that as a job you want to have? also I read you can not have any prior law violations ? is that traffic tickets or just felony and misdemenor convictions?

@dock534 in A.I.T you only get off one day out of the fuckin week man and thats on sunday. my 1stsgt was a hard ass and took away passes left and right. i didnt get a post pass until three weeks before i graduated AIT but befor that i got about 3 briade passes. MP can get aweful hours in active army i hear but in reserve it helps with becoming a police officer. dont let any one tell you the army looks good on a resume. it only looks good if you got deployed preety much lol

@dock534 You don't need to know shit! Just don't be a dumb ass listen to what your training will teach you. The Army will either be the easiest thing you will do or the hardest it all depends on you! I preach Mentally tough and physically fit above all. From there you can accomplish what ever you want. It's not always fun and if some one tells you other wise they are lying out there ass. If you want to know what it's really like to be an MP in the states, korea and Iraq PM me and I will share!

you need to be atleast 18 years of age and score i think its a 98 or 100 on the ST portion of ur ASVAB....anyone can correct me if i'm wrong

MP Training is what is called OSUT, One station Unit Training. Basic Training and MP School in the same area, same Drill Sgts, same Barracks, Just different crap to do everyday.
