I LOVE this recipe and have used it several times to impress my Argentine relatives!! Question...can I prepare dough, put in the filling, keep the empandas in the fridge over night then fry the next day? OR do I need to fill right before frying?
@cindiemormon I'm glad you loved this recipe!!! As for your question, I have made the empanadas and put them in the fridge the day before and up to 24 hours before I fry them up. Feel free to prepare the empanadas ahead of time.
@katdua77 I don't usually keep the dough in the freezer long. I leave it for 30 minutes to an hour. When it becomes firm then you take it out. If you store it in the freezer, I would suggest you thaw it in the fridge and then work with it once it becomed soft enough to work with. Best of luck!!
The vinegar is to make the dough softer. I have tried it without the vinegar and it really does come out a bit tougher. As for flavor, I don't think it makes a big difference without the vinegar. I hope you try this recipe and enjoy it!!! All my best--
some uses hot water in making Dough without the egg mixture.. just wondering why used COLD WATER instead.. i wanna also know the idea why you included Vinegar in the dough ingredient ..thanks :)
I used this recipe to make empanadas this weekend. It was pretty good even though I fried them. I think they would have came out better if I had baked them but it is way too hot to turn my oven on. Thanks a lot!
@SuperJojo918 I've never left the dough in the fridge for more than 3 days. I can't say how much longer it will keep, but after three days it should still be fresh. All my best -- Vicky O.
@gabby69rammstein Empanadas is a street/finger food. This is usually not garnished. It can be eaten with anything from rice to pernil. This particular dish is a great appetizer. Have a happy New Year... All my best... Vicky O.
Hello! Thank you for the helpul video. I'm going to surprise my family with these. If I prepare them today (with filling), can I store them in the refrigerator and bake them tomorrow?
@teachingfreak You can easily prepare them and place them in the fridge. I usually make a large batch and put them in the fridge-- I use them up before 5 days. Just a note: Don't leave them in the fridge more than 5 days.
@annaleizlcgo2 --I'm glad you find it interesting-- I hope you try it soon!!! By the way-thanks for the comment. I'm not an authority on this subject, but I think you use vinegar in the empanada dough to tenderize the dough and make it a little easier to work with. Please let me know if you try it!!! All my best....
Loved this recipe I have watched a few other videos that use shortening...I don't want to so I am glad you had a recipe with just the butter! Great. You made it look simple and easy and I think I am going to try it today :-)
@wisdommusic.....I think you are referring to Viva Daisy lol she does sound just like her, I love Daisy too :-)
I absolutely hate vinegar :( Can I simply cut out the vinegar and substitute something else instead??? Please, help...
