Rover's sort of cute because he's round, bouncy, and soft. Awww. And I'm sorry but at 0:32, Rover sounds like he's singing some rather muffled old Gregorian chant songs, you know like that band Enigma used to use in their songs back in the 90s.
That guy obviously deserved to die! My gawd he was a fashion pas faux in that tacky outfit! The giant mencing balloon or bubble was pretty campy on its own. Wonder why no one carried a giant hat pin to deal with it??!!

Thats what my exercise ball does, now I know why.....thanks for posing, for the longest time I asked people about his show and they didnt know what I was talking about
@gyrotuffjonykirby The 2009 remake had a weak storyline and had none of the edge of the original Patrick McGoohan series, special effects and Ian McKellen alone will only carry you so far.
just water !! could be mixed in with helium gas ?? sometimes it appears to me as it's going flat. . then like a flexable plastic bubble that sucks you in to it .good cheap special FX. !!
i've remembered the white ball chasing a man since i was very little......i just now figured out which show i was watching....my family was stationed in germany and this was one of the few shows broadcasted on the base. wow
I was 9 years old when The Prisoner aired in 1968. To a 9 year old, the show made no sense at all. But that damned ballon kept me watching. Special effects on TV were not much back then, all we had was Star Trek,...and Rover. Everything else sucked as far as special effects.

society is actually getting this bad because in some countries they holler at you from loudspeakers under the cameras everywhere if you so much as drop a piece of paper on the street!
If you freeze it at .24 you'll see some cars and trucks in the background. A minor gaffe but Rover is terrifying to a small child. When I was a very very young, I wondered why my father was watching this show with the roaring ball.
There is a broad consensus that Rover, the id monster of Forbidden Planet and Caliban from Shakespeare´s "The tempest" belong to the same tradition of "irrational monsters" and are references for Smokey.
I always wondered just what the hell Rover was supposed to be (aside from a big balloon). Was it a mechanical device or a genetically engineered creature. Be interesting to see what Rover would look like if made with modern FX, maybe something like an Amoeba.
circles are like vortexes and black holes, always plotting to suck you into their mystical mathematic centre, triangles are attractive, alluring, and dynamic, imho. That is a very complicated question. The common interpretation is that it is allegorical and I think that is the best way to see it. But there are lots of website out there that will provide you with interesting insights.
was not so much the Rover that got you scared, but the sound, and the faces through its "skin" had nightmares about it!!! Not highly rated, but was shown for a long time at night on PBS!!!
I was about 5 when the series ran on TV, and one of my earliest childhood memories is of the Rover sucking people in, with their faces pushed against the membrane, trying to get out.
Gave me such nightmares!
Years later, in my twenties, I was working at a store in the Westside Pavilion and Patrick McGoohan came in!
I told him about the impact the Rover had on me as a child, and he shrugged and said, "Yeah, well, they're still out there."
I was just a kid when this was on and I found rover to be pretty scary, but seeing as how it was obviously composed of a a thin membrane, I always wondered why Number 6 was too stupid to try using a sharp object against it.
Sorry, sometimes I forget that not everyone has unlimited internet. With Comcast you don't have to worry about bandwidth. It's still a good site though.
If it does, and if it applies to streaming video, it must be a pretty big cap. I've been watching about 10 movies a month and lots of old TV shows.. FYI-"Watchmen" and "Coraline" just became available on watch-movies-links(.)net.
on the wrapping of the 'inflatable rover', it says 'helium sold separately'.'

Every "idea" in Lost is taken from another show.
The Lost Islands, The Prisoner, The New People etc etc
The dude is great at recycling ideas from shows that he thinks people won't remember.
