this truck has a swedish number although I speak for Germany:

a) we have a weight limit at only 44 tons, sweden and denmark has a 60 ton limit.

b) one drive is a little cheaper

c) the wheel load is very high - that does a massive damage to the road - and the roadmaking mafia want to re-build every kilometer every next year!

This is sad but far away from a fucking joke - its a question of billions.

does it matter on how you load a truck in relationship to fuel economy. i mean it better to load heavy to the center of the trailer and keep truck lighter or load more on the truck side to keep trailer side lighter. any thoughts?

It is best to load the truck so the load is balanced between all the wheels, that way you reduce the rolling resistance slightly. Also, getting it low in the trailer is good too, gives better balance in corners, such as on and off ramps from highways.

Mind you, if it's snowy, getting a bit of extra weight up towards the pulling wheels can be an advantage for traction.

Most forklift drivers usually know about this when they load trucks.

No, putting all the weight on just the trucks wheels, or the trailers wheels, is not as efficient as distributing the load over both sets of wheels.

The less you compress the tire, the smalle the contact patch will be, and thus the less the rolling resistance as well. You also heat the wheels up a bit less, and wear them more evenly. There is a small fuel saving too, but it's not big.

The biggest advantage, is stability.

Particularly onbendy roads.
