  • WOW >! my friend was Captleutenant on Akula class submarien like this on hes russian but not crazy and primitive like most russuans are !

  • As interesting as this video is, I can't imagine how monotonous it must be when you're trapped in a metal tube for months at a time. I would have cabin fever like Jack Nicholson in the shining before too long. Not to mention there's no women around. Which can be nice for a few hours at a time, or maybe even a couple of days once in a while, but after a while I would need some pussy.

  • My GOD the cold war gave us some wicked toys!!

  • Everyone who thinks one is stronger then the other is an idiot, if we ever did go to war with Russia the whole dam world would have been destroyed. We both had and have enough nukes on just one side to do it a few times over.

  • In this case bigger is not better. All Typhoons are retired.

  • @skyvilla not all 6 are still in service

  • @skyvilla except 1

  • @skyvilla What? The Russians still operate Akulas. In fact the Indians leased one from them as well.

  • @88Dinger You are confusing the attack sub Akula class with the Typhoon class ballistic missile sub which is called the Akula by the Russians.

  • so who the fk wanna leave in that world, dying of inoperable disease in snow and hungry, and people who r manning these subs understand it better then most of us , so stopcomparing which nation is better , just get along and enjoy the world

  • stop panicing, just relax and enjoy the world, your friends and relatives. if there's nuclear war ,we r all gonna die, some of us later but wi will be inoperapeble like aids and cancer 2gether but on a much faste scale, then temperature changes "nuclear winter " it's like ice age (no crops = no food) , and no electricity cuz electromagnetic pulses will knock out all electro stations ( goodbye internet, gps, mobile phones, computers, infra vision will be just guns and scarce food)

  • One SuperSub that can destroy the world with the new misiles, tested and loaded 2 months ago

  • sorry but if you see the facts : us army would smash russian arm without any problems!

  • @UniteFightBack No one cares about your bullshit.

  • It's got a damn swimming pool! Lucky for those sailors who want to be Olympic champions.

  • It's got a damn swimming pool!

  • this thing is the end of the world

  • now that wot the fuck im talking about! POWER!

  • gotta love the russians

  • 1) Typhoon Class

    2) Ohio Class

    3) Oscar II Class

  • Greetings from Sweden!

  • another ruski rusti nuclear crapsub exploded some day ago ruining the North Sea from russian nuclear waste

Get your crap out of the waters, and give the nuclear cores to germany. atl east they can transform that into electric energy

  • savage grin of of socialism

  • Tu polacy przejmujemy ten filmik panowie....

  • ohio class is better than typhoon

  • There is only 'unconstitutional' and 'not free speech media' when its convenient to USA government. I hope your government is going to burn in hell for all the killings it have done in the name of 'democracy'.

  • and yet, american's still have a TSA that strip-searches everyone at the airport, because government tries to keep you safe :)) bunch of jokers! One of these subs carries enough of Bulava missiles that can wipe 1/4th your country... yet you cannot attack Russia, even though your stupid propaganda/mainstream media says that there is violation of human rights in russia :)))

  • The missile fired at the end of video is American Cruise Missile, not Russian Ballistic Missile.

  • wicked sinister vid, awesome!!!

  • reminds me of the one in MW3

  • what is this, is it when the tursk sunk?

  • It goes down REALLY slow, a ohio could sink it and its a missle sub too

  • Maybe this was the iceberg the Titanic hit, LOL. When it comes to submmarines, if it aint Russian or German U boat it aint a submarine XD

  • @scoped98k The Americans make very good submarines. Probably because they cost hundreds of millions of dollars each.

  • @Whatheonearth Try billions.

  • Typhoon is a BEAST.

I wish China build some thing in its class in the future.

    Respect from a Chinese.

  • It's all fun and games untill the reactor melts down. Happened many times with Ruskie subs.

  • @ImFaceman Never has there ever been a nuclear meltdown in a Russian, OR an American submarine. Get your facts straight.

  • it's a fucking monster!!!! :O

  • Kocham ten okret normalnie ;P..........mistrzostwo swiata a nie jakies gowniane, amerykanskie padaki jebane.ktore w kupie trzymaja jesynie ptasie odchody!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The best Submarine in the WORLD!!!!!!

  • Captain uses chalk to write 'Fly in peace" at 1:20 :)

There was no deterrent to this weapon. Raegans SDI initially monitored the Arctic looking for launch signatures as well as the West setting up and manning observation posts in the area. From time of launch, Boston, NY, Philly, DC, Chicago would have been charred ruins within 3 mins; however Colorado would have been the prime target with at least 5 mt's raining down.

Serious shit from a serious weapon. MAD if it ever launched in anger.

  • @dandysquirrel

Oh there was a deterrent, just another ballistic submarine. Ohio class subs were half the weight of a Typhoon but carried more missiles with more then double the firepower and greater range. Most important, there were 3 Ohios for each Typhoon. I don't think bombing Chicago or Colorado ever crossed the minds of Soviet strategists.

  • It is Alliens battleship

  • @skatesfp Yes!

  • What's the point of a huge sub? Isn't the idea to NOT be detected? How can Sonar miss this???

  • @kingbobnjoe **sigh** Try to do some reading on the subject...

  • @kingbobnjoe

after some research i have found out why.

the typhoon might of been huge but it was the one of the quitest subs ever made. it would stay submerged for MONTHS at a time rather then a few hours like most subs. they werent built to be in enemy teritory or even their own for that matter - they were designed to be in the arctic under the ice where they were safe. their firepower was enough to penetrate the ice for an attack.

  • @frobinhood

That's really interesting! Thanks for taking the time to share your research with me, I appreciate it. Have a good one!

  • @frobinhood

Absolutely correct. It was never intended as a stealth weapon and was easilly detectable up until the early 1980's. However, it was heavilly protected by a number of destroyers, frigates and Akula's as it made its way to the Arctic ice pack where upon the background noise from the ice packs made it impossible to detect. The Russians weren't too sophisticated at using Titanium metallurgy until the mid 80's when the sub became even more deadly. The West WAS terrified of this weapon

  • @kingbobnjoe There are a number of factors involved in finding a sub, but the most important is active detection vs passive detection. If a ship transmits actively (ie using active sonar) they will be detected at at least twice the distance that they detect anything. This is called counter-detection. As well when you look at the water profile there are "layers". If they are below or above these layers and your sensors are on the other side they can be very hard to detect. That is the Coles Notes

  • All who the sword has cam - will perish by the sword ! ! !

  • Russia need one good small car

  • He has written "fly with peace"

  • Im scared.

  • Now THAT'S a machine! :)

  • @61papazson61 gde info?

  • wow niiiiicccceeee

  • This behemoth has 3 pressure hulls. Absolutely rediculous in size and power

  • Biggest sub I have ever seen, as big as a heavy cruiser

  • Straight from Hell :)

  • This thing its a Monster.. Im not russian.. but.. one thing its certain.. Nobody ever fuck with the russian.. Nobody in History defied or beat them.. and Russia its reorganizing itself now.. I wouldnt subestimate them.. never ever.. my respect

  • @lucca101able

Never ever? Hello, World War One Germany ring a bell?

  • @kingbobnjoe still didn't beat

  • 20 submarine launched ballistic missile (SLBM) - SS-N-20 Sturgeon,(Russ The R-39 Rif).

    Warhead 10 x 200 Kt each. In total - 200 Warhead

  • That swimming pool inside looked like they all piss and shit in it, yet they swim in it. The rest of the sub didn't look all that sanitary either. Im not Russian but still made me go "hmmm"

  • RUSSIA-SUPER!

  • Yes, we have many things much vore advanced! ))) This sub can kill a cuple sities, just staying in it's port... It has 12 rokcets RS -22 (Black satan) on board

    Sorry for my english...

  • Yes, we have many things much vore advanced! )))

  • That thing is a fuckin' monster

  • @mirrorny nothing worth buying,that's for sure.

  • the widomaker

  • Is the Akula (Typhoon class) The "Top of the line" sub in the Russian navy? Or is there another yet more advanced?

  • A beautiful piece of military hardware. Thing is freakin HUGE.

  • it's RUSSIANNNNNNNNN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @trek8900zk no.., its RRRRRRRUSSIAN

  • Bigger just means easier to spot and blow up

  • @hunkgod No, it means it can stray hidden much longer, by the way, this sub can stay completely undetected under the ice, but can still launch a 90 tone nuke intercontinental missile from under the ice capable of wiping out a big city.

  • Their purpose is to maintain diplomatic power, so that even the last submarine standing can still threaten the entire USA, since it can still deploy several 90 tone missiles, for that to happen you need BIG submarines.

  • @hunkgod this is a typhoon class Russ sub. and anti radar.. not easy to detect. under the water is invisible...

  • @hunkgod No it doesn't.

  • @rogovalll

  • this music 6:28 , how is it called???

  • I fucking love submarine movies. Wach 'Das Boot' if you've never seen it. Great drama based around a U-boat crew.

  • this was a manly submarine

  • each buluva missile this thing holds carries seven 100 kiloton warheads. it carries 20 of these missiles. hiroshima was 18 kilotons...

  • sound is awesome. what is that? reminds me aliens 2

  • @AllofStewie

    it's from alliens

  • it is the biggest by displasement at least

  • the Russian typhoon is almost the biggest submarine in the world

  • @RandyV8MW2

Eh????? and what are you thinking is bigger? Its about 20 ft longer and nearly double the width, and double the displacment of the Ohio class. 4 of the boat I was on would fit in it (sturgeon stretch hull SSN686).

  • Yes wire guided Torpedoes are slow. The the Russian "Shkval" is the exception. More an underwater rocket - 400km per hour.

US citizen - Edmond Pope (Captain, USN, retired)was convicted for trying to steal the secrets of this Torpedo/Rocket in 2000.

  • This warmachine can wipe out an entire country with it's warheads or maybe even more....

  • They should code name the Sub "Sitting Duck".

  • @pondmaker Actually, acoustics is what determines how vulnerable a submarine is. It doesn't matter how big you are, as long as you remain silent in the water. The Seawolf class hunter-killer is vastly largely, yet also considerably more quiet, than the smaller Los Angeles. Additionally, the majority of torpedoes are only marginally faster then the submarines which launch them; giving submarines plenty of opportunity to evade, deploy decoys, launch counter-torpedoes, etc..

  • holy cow that thing is huge

  • thats acula.24 nuclear rockets 8 heads each. that means 24*8 hirosimas

  • @ruulis ok?

The Ohio Class SSBNs can hold 24 Trident II D5 SLBMs, each with 12 W76 or W88 warheads

  • thats acula.24 nuclear rockets 8 heads each

  • thats acula

  • 2:42, his job must be very important.

  • its probably been said before but a Typhoon is NOT an Akula, Typhoon SSBN Bomber, Akula SSN Attack Submarine i believe

  • @discomjim

Project Akula was the official Russian name for this submarine. Typhoon is the NATO reporting name of this SSBN and Akula, meaning shark is the NATO reporting name of the attack sub.

  • @thinkforthefuture yeah i stand corrected, didnt know they used akula name as well as NATO :)

  • its Russia

    not u.s media shit

  • Impressive. But, then, size is not really an advantage for a sub, stealth, sensors and fire power are important, in that order!

  • @bhigr

and what makes you think it didn't have all that?....Hollywood?

  • @Husar101 Small objects are usually easier to hide than large objects. This sub is huge and needs huge and powerfull engines in order to move. That should result in considerable noise. Fire power is probably going to be stellar, but all you need is a torpedo in order to destroy a different vessel. I don't know about the sensors, but I trust that American electronics are superior to Russian.

  • @bhigr

In it's heyday (1980-1995) it was one of the quietest subs. It has a double hull with advanced noise reduction materials. It was designed to take position under the north pole where it cannot be tracked and can break through up to 4m (12 feet) of ice. It's firepower goes without saying if you know anything about it....which judging by your posts you don't

  • @Husar101 I doubt it is one of the quietest subs around. All modern subs have double hulls and noise reduction materials. That's a standard. But most are a lot smaller and lighter. Any modern diesel electric sub (also Russian) is stealthier than this big chunk. An uncovered sub is a sitting duck, an easy target. If you hide this sub under the arctic ice without moving around too fast then it has it's use as missile platform. Otherwise it's a grave, IMHO.

  • @bhigr

we're talking about the 1980's and 90's. It was one of the quietest at the time. And off course it's a missile carrier...what did you think it was? a coastal patrol sub? It's role was to deliver the knockout punch from under the ice after the initial nuclear exchange at the start of WW-3. It carries 20 missiles each with 10 nuclear warheads. That's 200 nuclear bombs per sub.

  • @Husar101 Well, then it really is of very limited use. Sorry, I don't like it. I would prefer to have 2-3 smaller and stealthier subs. Nevertheless, it is an impressive technical object

  • @bhigr

good luck with your own private navy

  • @Husar101 Every single nation except for the Russians has opted for plural smaller and stealthier subs. There seems to be broad agreement on this;-) So I don't have to wait for my private navy. This sub is just no good!

  • @bhigr

it's difficult to have a discussion with someone who has difficulty grasping the concept of different classes of subs. Every major navy has large, medium, small and mini subs. The Typhoon was built for the cold war with specific requirements for the time (fighting a nuclear war). It was the carrier for the RSM-52 (SS-N-20) SLBM. You can't fit ICBMs into a mini-sub...even today

  • @Husar101 Well, but having two to three smaller subs would have been the better decision. That's my opinion and that was also the opinion of the US navy.

  • @bhigr

like Husar said you're confusing strategic missile subs with the smaller attack subs. The US Navy actually has a large number of Ohio class boomers equipped with Trident missiles. They are also quite large in size. Essentially the missile boats are floating ICBM silos.

  • @Husar101 Glavnoe shto est' sauna, parilochka, i bar.

  • @FelixRohatyn

    Good one lol.

I didn't get around to mentioning those features

  • I want one for Christmas. :3

  • Just want to know, the range of this submarine is only limited by its food supply right?

  • @mchief190

in theory yes. That and the crew going crazy

  • Fucken Beast !!!!!!

  • where can i buy one? lol

  • this thing is an amazing piece of engineering, love it, will be sad the see the back of these huge war machines.

    Keep them coming Russia

  • Guy at 1:20 wrote "Fly with Peace" watch full German doc

  • thanks God ,now we got plenty inexpensiv titanium frame hand guns, thanks titanium builded submarines solded to america.;)

  • Nice vid, thanks

  • but will it blend?

  • Imagine this thing popping up like right off say ---FT. Walton Beach or even better yet right in the mouth of Chesapeake Bay better yet the two remaining ones flying an IRANIAN FLAG ahhhhh!

  • @HeildemKrieg

    Spot on.

  • @HeildemKrieg You are correct, since NATO did not have a designation for the Typhoon, they treated it as a variant of the Akula class. The Typhoon was a missle boat, the Akula was a fast attack sub. The three remaining Typhoons are set to be retired. I believe that there is only one in active service at this time. Four of t hem are in various stages of being scrapped whereas the U.S. still have 14 on active duty with 3 in for refueling and one set to be retired. Might be a little off.

  • @Matthewthematador

1 is being used as a test bed for the Bulava SLBM while the other 2 are in storage. A plan to convert them into Naval commando platforms and cruise missile carriers is being considered depending on the financial feasibility. Otherwise they will probably be scrapped. The new Borei class will be the main Russian missile boats in the future

  • @HeildemKrieg

only one is enough, when we are talking about this one.

  • That's the reason why Russia will never be in war with anybody.

Because strong nation doesn't need to prove anything to anybody.

  • Russian never gang !!! USA = ;(( !!

  • Can submerge up to 6 months

  • Is this bigger then Los Angelas Class?

  • @LiebeFurVolk About twice the size....

  • @halo07guy2 and also BIGGER than Invincible Class Light Carrier, Royal Navy!

  • @LiebeFurVolk It is way ahead LA in firepower. This sub, as a combat unit, I think the most powerful weapon system mankind ever fielded. 24 MIRVed missiles each with 10 separate warheads, each equal to 50 Hiroshimas in power are an overkill in any war. Not even a United States as a nation amy survive just a couple salvos.

  • Great scenes from back when THE HISTORY CHANNEL actually showed Historical programming.... Not like THE "REALITY SHOW" Programming they have now.. TOP SHOT, ICE ROAD TRUCKERS, << WOWWWWWWWWWWWWW this is NOTTTTTTTTTTTT HISTORICAL IN ANYWAY,,,

  • You know the Akula is a different sub. XD

  • @HajtomY

    No it's not!

We've been over this a million times already.

  • actually it is different, what we in the west know as "akula" is actually a russian "alpha"

  • @HajtomY not really, they're just NATO designations for a few classes
