As someone who's been listening to electronic dance music since 1993, I can assure you this is more dubstep than it is trance (snare placement, bassline, and drum timbres). It's also more electro than it is either. But really its not any of those the old genres. It's a Gareth Emery track combining his signature sound with influences he found energizing and put them together for a track that feels both very at home while being outside any current genres.
