IMHO cfl lights are decent at vegging and a little under the ok side for flowering. they simply do not produe enough lumens to get a really good quality harvest. most videos of cfl grows especially the videos that have the house hold cfls look good from a distance but at close inspection have almost zero chrystals. but they do make some pretty good high output cfl systems for growing that can get you some dank ass bud if you do it right.

I clearly said from the start that it was only my opinion. and you would be a complete dumbass to say that regular cfls are great for growing dense sticky crystalized nugs because the fact is that they are not capable of doing that at all. you can grow bud under average cfls but it will not be nearly as good in quality compared to a hid light.

Ok everyone that has commented about cfl lighting OBVIOUSLY knows nothing about lighting at all..lighting doesnt compound just by adding an extra cfl here or there....if a cfl puts off 4000 lumens you dont get 40,000 lumens just by using 10 of them...u get 4000 lumens over a wider area...all you are doing is getting rid of the shadows...not increasing light...be smart go on craigslist and look up warehouse lighting you can make a nice MH outta those...u want penetrating light..not ambient light

hey anyone, do you think CFL's or tube fluorescents work better for flowering,? ive got one plant, with 4 tubes, 2 daylight, and 2 wide spectrum eco grow lights. it works amazing for veg growth, at 2 mnths, 1 and a half ft tall,i switchd the light to 12 hours, yes its a girl and it it has a few signs of pre- flowering. or'' lil white pistols''im a frst timer indoor and i just wanna here some input, btw yes im sticking with fluoro's cuz i cant afford more. so, the Q is, tubes or cfls? wrk better?

You should have kept the CFLs closer man. Seriously like 1-2 inches away. Those things aren't that warm. You can get them pretty close without burning the leaves. Good grow though.

your plants look stressed and streched too man..move that light closer to those babys..next time LST them to get a better yield..cfls dont have alot of reach so your inducing more streching with the lights so high..and also had some more perlite to that soil mix..

funny watching all the new growers arguing over who has best ,, or who is smartest .. most of these miniscule "stealth" grows n shit would never be enough weed to satisfy normal smokers .. the cfls are good for vegetative growth but I find the buds to be tiny and airy .. waste of time unless you are just doing it as a hobby and dont care how much good smoke you get.. If you want good amount of smoke ,, stick to a metal halide light .. no problems ,, no need for hps lights in combination either .

look up how many lumens direct sunlight emits. It's 32,000130,000. So tell me, wouldn't it make sense to have this many on your plants? Or at least more than 3,000? I used 10 68 watter bulbs which put off 4500 lumens each in addtion to at least 10-15 lesser 26-42 watt bulbs in my grow. Just the 68 watters alone were 45000 lumens. I prolly had close to 80,000 total.

@rockondon i run my lights at night already and it still requires a lot of air conditioning to keep it at a proper temp using CFLS.... with an HPS it would be difficult to maintain temperature and I know it would be more expensive.

heya live4daherb i will explain, basiically say u know wht output u want eg 115 watts thats5 23 watt cfls in the floering stage put an extra 5 inso thats 230 watts but if ure doing 12/12 the price of ure elcetric wont chan ge as 115x24hour  is 3.6kwh and 230 wats for 12 hours is 2.76kwh so in effet u can add even more than 5 and get the same bill hope that helped u out

hey there. so you're thinking about a box grow eh? Well as for your question about ventilation... I run central air 24x7 with carbon filter on the main air intake in my living room. In the grow room, I have the window open and carbon filter sewed into the screen. The central air keeps the room pressured and the air pushes out the window. That is my vent system. You should use two computer fans with carbon filter on the one for outgoing air. Intake should be low and out should be higher up...

Realy good grow :D, I always see people say that CFLs are no good and shit, but I never realy believed...I'm growing with CFLs too, but i think that for 2 or 3 plants CFL is enough...for more i think it would be cheaper to use HPS...not sure, but keep it up! I hope it works for me too xD

looks like you have around 2 dozen lights? so if your using 27 watt light you have like 500 watts? looks fucking awsome i use 6 27 watt lights for veg and 8 27 watters for flower for 4 plants.150 -200 watts does me great so your fucking set

28 lights in flower chamber. i have 9 68 watters, and 6 42 watters and 16 26 watters. 1250 watts total. its a 12 square foot space you lumen wise it's roughly 55-60000 per square foot..
