fresh 14, the tunnel , the limelight, the paradise garage, zanzibar, the loft, the funhouse, roxys they will all be missed those were the days of dance not this lets see how drunk we can get by 2 am bs
Palladium was the first big dance club I ever went to . I was so sad when they tore it down. It should have been saved as a Historic site(originally the Fox Academy of Music). The mystery of the rest of the building that was closed off and too large to operate will forever remain a mystery. I, too, wish I could go back to the early to mid 90s in NYC when nightlife was alive, eclectic, and vibrant. We will always have our memories and thank you everyone for continuing to share yours.
Those days are long gone .. and jrsny76 im with you all the way on your thoughts. I grew up with these nightclubs from the 90s and NOW .. there is NO MORE NYC NIGHTLIFE ... and its very very sad since it was NY was known for its night life, all these trendy crap fucking lounges make me sick, you could not pay me to step foot in them. To top it all they make the LImelight into a FUCKING sample SALE. We need atleast 1 place like the old days, but I dont see that happening. What a shame
Palladium was beautiful inside. The lighted stairs, the dance floor, the movie theater seats, Aphrodita at the door, MC Romeo on saturday nights. I used to go every weekend in 94 and 95.
Lets hope Roxy reopens, Webster Hall is the only real club that remains open in 2009 from back in the day but its so fucking commerical and boring. WHAT THE FUCK HAPPEN TO THE DAYS OF WHEN YOU HAD A NASTY QUEEN INFRONT OF THE DOOR THAT PICKED YOU TO GET IN, INSTEAD OF THE SHIT CLUB/LOUNGES THAT WE HAVE TODAY. IS IT JUST ME OR HAS ANYONE ELSE NOTICED HOW BORING NYC HAS BECOME? MANSION SUCKS, CROBAR WAS AWSOME BUT SMALL, PACHA IS COOL - THE SPACE IS SO TIGHT. CAFE CON LECHE WHERE DID THAT GO?
It's amazing to see so many people feel as I do about this club. If you never been to the Palladium you missed out on vibe and scene that will never be duplicated. I lived to go to the Palladium on Saturdays nights 92 thru 95. I just wish someway I could be granted one more night at the Palladium. The best music, light show, sound system and space ever anywhere.....
You're not the only one that feels like that. New York is now lost to the world of real estate and yuppies and the scene of "the real NYC night life" is forever gone. We will never have Palladium back thanks to the NYU dorms that the space now is. Even more sad 3 weeks ago I walked by LimeLight (for the newbies thats "Avalon") which still stands. This is now a fucking flea market type place that they turned it into - how fucking sad. Roxy is closed but the space is still there.
I dont know but i remember Aphrodita at the door 94 and 95. . He/she used to pick me and my friend out from the street where we were standing and motion for us to come in!
MAN!!!! best club in nyc history!!! was going from 1992 till i beleive 1996 ever saturday nite house dancing in the circle with TRAVIS, LOS, JER, DLOW, MAGIC, ELI.....and so much more!!!! peace ROB G....boogie down bronx!!!!
Does anyone remember Otis. He used to dance on the podium, second from the right looking towards the stage, drinks bar on your back, remember? This guy was amazing as a club dancer and a regular. He was bald shaven too (just to clear it up).
I used to work there as a busboy and then a bathroom attendant (the one outside the Michael Todd room), and then I got fired by Dave Miscet. I hated that guy!
