if you did have intake and such i bet the flowmasters took whatever hp you got out of your aftermarket bolt ons...flowmasters are horrible sounding and horrible performance...dyno tested and fact approved flowmasters kill hp...
also picked up 2006 GT myself...added the Flowmaster 40 series SS embossed 4" tips(American Thunder--aggressive sounding..and added a Volant cold air intake. It improved response and sounds great...yhe mufflers were about $400 on JEGS.com and the Volant around $300
@JULESRULES9969 Google: american muscle, stangmods, and mrbodykit. You can start anywhere but personally i'd start with a tuner, cold air intake, and exhaust in any order. Then you'll get the idea and you can go from there.
@moshman412 LOL. that was funny. I'm not a beaner and flowmaster is like the most popular american exhaust company. They are the best sound for your buck. Of course you can blow $300+ on something more upscale that sounds slightly different. I wanted louder, so I just deleted my mufflers. I don't street race.
Depends on if you want speed, looks, etc. The fastest v6 will never be as fast as the fastest v8. GTs are also more unique. for every 3 GTs Ford sells 7 V6s. the only nice thing about a sixer is that from really far away it looks like a fast car. oh, and you get a couple extra mpg.
gt is not that much faster than a six but once u start to modd a v8 its gona rape the 6 it weights less but if u want to go fast witout modding just go wit the v8
The New 2011 V6 model has 305HP. That's great performance for the price. Though, the GT now has 412hp. Ford finally did EVERYTHING right. Can't go wrong with either anymore.
@maxpower978 its an extra 7-8k for a v8. u can buy a v6 at 20k spend 6k on a supercharger and bolt ons, have better HP than a GT and still be cheaper than a stock 27k GT.
@maxpower978 Mustang = Muscle Car... V6 is not a muscle car. :] Stick with the V8s, more power, better sound. I feel like the idea of a gas saving muscle car is just a bad idea.. as far as V6 goes, I'd rather get a 370Z, 332HP.. or a E46 M3 333HP.
4.0L V6 Mustang gets 210HP, with the same gas mileage as the 370Z. While the 370Z is .3L smaller, same gas mileage, and has 122HP more.
well, GTOFLA, i need to keep my cats because: 1. It's illegal to not have them in florida and 2. I have a ford warranty and ford will not touch my car without cats and if something goes wrong with it like it just recently did, i would be screwed and i would have wasted $2,000 on a warranty i would never be able to use.
yeah, California has issues with not having cats in most counties. You can get a stiff fine. my car would be way too loud without them tho. i'd get pulled over for sure. If i was going to take the cats off I would keep the single chambers just to deepen the tone and make it less obvious and obnoxious.
What Kind of Mid-Pipe is that?? I have the flowmaster American thunder mufflers and that is pretty much exactly how I want my car to sound, I would like to keep Cats on My car also.
it's a x-pipe that a local muffler shop fabbed. I paid $50 for it and the performance increase was immediately noticeable. I have stock cats and manifold. So all you need basically is a standard x-pipe. nothing too fancy is necessary to get it to sound like that :-)
sounds sweet man... you have the catted x pipe... my brother has a 06 gt.. his sounds louder and all he has is the mufflers... does ur sound louder than the video portrayes it?
i don't have this set up anymore but i remember it well. It is much louder than in the video and the flowmasters make it sound really deep so it vibrates shit. But if you have just mufflers and no cats its gonna be way louder. Cats are like having 2 extra mufflers thats how restrictive they are. Right now I have mufflers deleted. Can hear that on my other video. I kinda stopped upgrading this car because I have a 1968 mustang V8 Im investing all my time and money into now. its all ready faster.
real muscle car lovers won't change them for japanese cars in a million years!! we're more than happy with the american muscle car! they're better than any japanese small engine car ha ha ha ha!
well German cars are still awesome! Japanese are just awfull, they just remind me of my little toy cars i used to have when i was 3 yrs old. They are plastic shit with cheap engines and gay noise.
lol, yeah.. I see Porsche, BMW, Audi and Mercedes as the best German cars. Opel and VW are just the cheap ass cars u drive if u dont care about what car ur seen driving in!
@AudiROCKS What is rally trippy is when you hear a gs400 v8 lexus and it has flowmasters, you start to look around and say "where the F did that muscle car sound come from" and its from the Japanese v8. What pisses me off are the people who think their honda is the shit. I drive a honda and I know it sucks for power, but serves its purpose right now.
Depends on what kind of sound you are looking for. Both Borla and Flowmaster have a deep tone to them. The difference is Borlas sounds smoother and Flowmasters have a throaty more "oldschool" sound to them. The 04 4.6L 2V sounds different than my car but I've heard these same flowmaster single chambers on them and they sound incredible. I think dollar for dollar the flowmasters are a better value.
Nice to see a Mustang enthusiast AND exhaust enthusiast too! Check out my Wastin Gss, 72 Mustang and see what yu think about that setup for the 351 Cleveland, if you like! :) Jack
thanks. flowmasters always have a nice deep throaty tone to them. more bang for your buck than most of those more expensive brands like slp if you ask me.
I got some flowmasters i think there the same as yours, i want to go up to a bigger pipe size, what size do you think i should go to...and do you think i should cut the cat's off...
if you are going to cut the cats off then leave the stock piping on so you retain back pressure. I live in california and the emission laws are too much of a pain to do that so i recently deleted my mufflers and got new tips that are 12"long x 4"wide. Looks and sounds perfect to me. it has more of a growl and is good deal louder. will make a video of that soon. if you want bigger pipe get 3" and that would make it sound deeper/louder but you may lose performance if you also remove the cats
i like how it sounds i just want it to be a little bit louder. definitely going to keep the flowmasters on there because they keep the tone deep rather than raspy. Just looking to change the midpipe. [watch?v=382gxliqDSw] thats what i'm kinda going for.. nice background on your channel btw =)
That's the best sounding exhaust I've heard on the the S-197 Mustangs. Most of the people in my car club with the S-197 mustangs run magnaflows, I don't care for the sound of them. Nice car.
if you did have intake and such i bet the flowmasters took whatever hp you got out of your aftermarket bolt ons...flowmasters are horrible sounding and horrible performance...dyno tested and fact approved flowmasters kill hp...
