i don't feel that there is a contradiction between my national identity and sexual identity. it has taken me a while to stop repressing my armenian side with my queer side because i always thought that if i was queer then for some reason i wasn't armenian. i think there is a lot of power and strength in being able to say, i am armenian and i am queer.

i was born in armenia and immigrated to the united states. it always felt normal to me that my sexuality was fluid. obviously, my sexuality as an armenian woman has been silenced due to cultural influence and even if i didn't identify as queer, my sexuality would still be oppressed.
