The Romans, during their various conquests, had the largest armies, and brought undeterred culture and advancement to the Mediterranean region, resorting to the ancient equivelant of brutality only when it was necessary.
The fact is, the bigger armies are often times the more civilized, because of the fact that they don't have to resort to brutality.

I stated that Carter decreased the national debt by borrowing from European powers. This is true. I'm sorry, I was reading from a bad source. He reduced the national debt by selling large portions of the gold reserves, causing mass inflation, the collapse of multiple banks, and millions of lost jobs. Reagan reduced that inflation by buying the gold back, causing the increase in the national debt, but simultaneously increasing the national debt.

No, FDR's strong leadership wasn't very strong. The only thing he did right was the easiest thing he could have done: initiate the American War machine, which literally dragged the American economy out of the Depression. His regulatory acts would later make it difficult for his successor, Harry S. Truman, to use American businesses as a weapon to prevent Soviet incursion in Eastern Europe.

I'm not a Republican. I'm American, and Bush has done nowhere near as bad as the world seems to think. Bush's only crime is stupidity, where as Obamma has stated that the things he will do will lead his 'Presidency' - not regime, we're a broken Republic, not a dictatorship - to be one of knowing damnation and causing those warning signs. True, but I'm not a big fan of the Republican Party. Haven't been since Taft. Franklin Roosevelt didn't have strong leadership. The only thing he did right was constantly nag congress to get us into World War II, and he didn't even do that right. Roosevelt didn't get us out of the Depression, the Great American War Machine did. The New Deal ended up costing the government 5.5 million dollars (not counting for inflation) and added 3% to unemployment. I'd elaborate more, but I'm out of characters.

The republicans didn't do that, that would be the FBI. And Clinton had four separate chances to assassinate Bin Laden, and chickened out of every one because he didn't want to anger the UN. Bush has one, and he called it off because of a Saudi prince's presence. Carter increased unemployment from .8% to 8.9% and dismantled our coastal defenses, and removed the Draft. FDR shattered our Republic by convincing America that we are a democracy, and putting us at the whim of international pressure.
